TICKS! Please Help

we also use frontline (pipette) for each dog. effective naman kaso kelangan sundin yung 1 pipette each month hanggang maka doses so 3 months yun para mamatay pati egg cycle nung ticks.

pero pag mahina budget we use ivomec injection once every 15 days for 3 sessions din. effective din kaso pag slim ang dog frontline ginagamit ko, hirap turukan pag payatin ang dog.

^ ive heard and known some friends who uses ivomec. seen ticks being dehydrated and literally came off falling. never tried this for my pets though..

Pag ginamit yung Frontline spray, di po ba dangerous pag lick ng dog yung fur nya?

^hi, sis yan din inaalala ko before i use frontline kasi ang una naming ni-try eh yung frontline spray pero now yung pipette na ginagamit namin. meron kasi akong asong mahilig mag-lick ng balahibo nya, pero nung nilagyan namin ng frontline spray di naman nya ni-lick kasi siguro masyadong matapang ang amoy ng front line (amoy alcohol sya). siguro masama itong ma-lick ng pet kasi may instructions sa pag dispose nito di pwedeng i-dispose ng basta.

Sis, i bought yung pipette instead of the spray...di ba nila nililick yung body nila once nilagay yung pipette contents?
True ba na bawal maligo 3 days before and 3 days after application?

^sa batok lang naman sis ni-aaply yun para di nila ma-lick. 

ako din diko muna nililiguan para mas effective. hehe

i have the same problem..yung chow ko ginamitan ko ng frontline and yes effrctive nga sya and asuntol too for sraying kaso lang after a month nagbalikan sila ...hays masyado kasi furry ang chow so bili nanaman ng frontline i think i have to maintain it na kasi pabalik balik ang salot na kuto...

make sure na yun area where the pet goes also gets cleaned/rid of ticks. otherwise, babalik at babalik lang din talaga. some use asuntol, pwede rin room fogger to kill the ticks in the area.

we had this problem with our dogs and isa isa silang namatay coz we didn't get to control the spread of ticks. i think what ticks does pag sumobra na, is they really feed on the doggies blood til maubos, then mamamatay yung dog. sad but true. we used frontline and even yung shampoo na pang-manok (chickens daw have ticks too), but still no good. it spread sa house namin, sa clothes, everything! nakakaloka! as in nakakaloka talaga!

nung namatay na yung huling dog namin (we gave my dog away na lang, the last living one, kasi hindi na namin kaya mag-maintain), we worked on our house na, how to eliminate all the ticks na naiwan. we used sevin sprayed on our carpets, and garden.

fyi: kung may garden kayo, make sure na hindi nagpupunta ang doggies nyo dun esp if they have ticks kasi ticks live on land and sa 'lupa' ng garden.

i think even bleach can help eliminate ticks. thats what we use to clean the areas where our dogs sleep and play. dapat lang rinse well para di ma irritate yung mga paw pads nila.

kakatakot naman sis yung naging experience mo. dati kasi sobrang daming ticks din ng mga dogs ko nagkahawa-hawa din sila, dati kasi wala naman silang ticks, siguro kasi minsan sinasama ko sila sa pasyal at nadikitan sila ng ticks ng ibang dogs then pag uwi ko sa bahay namasyal ang ticks sa katawan ng mga iba ko pang dogs. before kasi diko pa alam yung frontline at ivomec kaya hinahatinggabi ako sa pagkukuto sa kanila. di talaga nauubos kasi nangingitlog ng nangingitlog. parang paminta na binudbod sa katawan yung mga itlog ng ticks ata yun. buti na lang tumalab yung frontline, pero after 1 month nagkakaron ulit ng ticks. since lima yung aso namin, yung mga sensitive at bata pa eh front line ginamit namin, then dun sa malalakas na dog eh ivomec ginamit namin for 3 sssion para pati itlog patay. kahit kumagat ulit sa kanila ang kato eh mamatay, natutuyo yung ticks.

sumakit ang ulo ko talaga sa ticks na yan buti ngayon naubos na. magastos nga lang pero okay na yon kasi baka maging anemic sila pag ilang taon pa di naalis ticks sa katawan nila.

i found ONE tick sa fur ni Winter. Pwede na ba sya mag-frontline? mag-2months pa lang sya sa april 6 takot ako baka dumami eh

last night we bought our 9 month old yorkie a flea tick collar bansect ang brand,and we brought him to vets in practice immediately after he choked and lick a small part of it, he was confined for 24 hours,we will get him later at 10pm, we never thought that a tick collar could be that harmful to pets,there were 6 pups in the hospital because of that one pup died…he choked coz he was trying to bite the collar and got stuck sa mouth niya,hayyy so depressing,i would never ever use anything nalang and just go with the tick shot next month,i hope vets in practice offer that.he has medicines to take para ma wash out ang toxins and we should monitor him for any unusual behavior coz nakaka sira ren to ng nervous system nila,i just hope walang magbago sa kaniya.

hi! my lab just gave birth and shes still nursing her puppies. im starting to see ticks on her and im afraid baka mahawa yun pups. what is an alternative solution to ticks and fleas problem sine i think i cannot use frontline or asuntol on them at the moment. thanks!

hmm... i cant recall how old my pups were when i saw a tick... maybe 3 months??... i told my vet about it and she recommended frontline spray... safe daw yun for young pups and nursing bitches... so ginamit ko sa kanila (pups and b****)  and they were ok naman.  i didnt see any adverse reactions.

anyway, its best to ask your vets before using it on your pups.

nagbili ako kanina ng frontline spray kasi yung apat kong shih tzu na puppies (6 weeks) eh ang daming kato. hayyys. kaya namutla bigla gums nila dahil sa mga kato.
dati kasi ang ginagamit ko eh frontline na spot on (yung yellow-pang puppy) effective din talaga, kaso yung spray kasi mas madami para ma-sprayan ko yung ibang pang adult na shih tzu, pag summer nalabas talaga mga kato.
ang ginawa ko sa frontline spray eh binuksan ko sya para ma-aspirate ko yung contents sa syringe tapos inispread ko sa batok nila para di nila madilaan. at hiniwalay hiwalay ko muna kasi pag puppy nagkakagatan ng tenga baka malason.
nakasulat sa label: 3-6 ml per kilogram body weight. tinimbang ko muna sila lahat, between 1-1.5 kg sila so dapat 3-6 ml, kaso ang dami baka kumayat na sa katawan nila kaya tig 1ml na lang sila. observe ko kung mawawala mga ticks within 1 week.

ako i used doggies' choice tick&flea shampoo, powder and yung house cleanser nila.

i used the the blue shampoo thrice a week, and in between days na hindi ko pinapaliguan yung shih tzu ko, i use powder. at the same time, i clean my barbie's house with the doggies choice pet house cleaner. recommended ito sa akin ng vet ko para inside-out daw mamatay ang garapata ni barbie ko.

in 2 weeks lang treated na yung tick & flea problem ko. now i am using doggies choice herbal na shampoo, magandang maganda bounce ng buhok ng barbie ko, pwede nang isama sa mga dog shows!
