If you want to get your son a dog, sis. you might want to get him a golden retriever. they make excellent family pets.

omg. golden retrievers are big (or i mean bigger than chihuahua, that is -- hehe), right? actually, it's my son lang naman ang talagang gusto ng pet, not me. my concept of pets are either a goldfish or a turtle. hehe. my last pet dog that was a german spitz but that was 18 years ago. i got somehow traumatized when it got lost and i was not able to get it back. i was thinking of buying my son a pug but nag-i-isnort kasi sha. wala lang, parang gross lang. hehe.

but thanks, for the suggestion, sis! i'll definitely consider golden retrievers. cute naman din sila pag puppy pa eh. hehe. may gamot ba para hindi na sila lumaki? hehe. kiddin.

It's not in the size naman, sis. I think it's in the temperament of the dog. In fact, chihuahuas are probably more likely to hurt your kid than a golden retriever. Because they're so small, everything bigger than them is a threat.and if they're threatened they will automatically act in self-defense i.e. bite. They are probably more aggressive than golden retrievers in that sense. that is why I suggested a golden retriever as your son's first pet. And since kids are very active, they can play rough with a golden retriever and the dog wouldn't mind it. since they're intelligent dogs, they know (if they are properly socialized) how to behave even if they get hurt unintentionally from rough playing. And since they are medium sized, their body can take it.

Ang alam ko nga, dito sa US #1 ang golden retriever na family pet. And also, unlike Golden Retrievers, chihuahuas (like other toy dogs) rank below #20 in terms of Dog Intelligence. Mas mahirap i-train ang chihuahua. The charm of chihuahuas comes from their ability to be attached to only one or two persons at a time. That's why they're not really recommended as a "family" pet. They're really more like "toys" and "lapdogs". A Pug is also a toy breed.

Some breeds were originally bred to be aggressive (ex: doberman pinscher, pitbull, etc. => they were made for fighting or to be guard dogs) while other breeds were created to become companions (ex: chihuahua, pug, etc. => because of their small size they can be with their owners everywhere, their size makes is convenient for traveling). This is why I love pure breed dogs, because they are made for a specific purpose and when you get one from a reputable breeder, then you will get exactly what you're looking for.

May prob ako sa chi ko, everytime na kumukulog esp ngayong rainy days nanginginig siya sa takot? I  try to cuddle him wala din effect ?How can he overcome kaya his fear? Nakakatakot din kasi sobrang nanginginig siya, parang feelingko ma-hheart attck siya sa takot.

sis, carla27. meron din yatang post dito about sa fear ng mga aso sa mga kulog or any other loud noise like fireworks. ang gawin mo sanayin mo siya sa sound. i-record mo sa CD then play it often until ndi na siya natatakot sa sound. while you play it make sure na nasa tabi ka niya to let your dog know that there is nothing dangerous about the sound. try to comfort your dog often. medyo matagal bago mawala 'yung phobia niya, you just have to be consistent and supportive.

question po about 1st time na manganak ng mga chi, nakakaya rin ba nila ng normal delivery or madalas kailangan talaga i-CS? sayang yung sa pinsan ko 3 pa naman sana yung pups, nadistress daw kasi during labor.

I love my chihuahuas, I have 2 but they are very different when it comes to their attitude. One is very aggressive and barks at anyone but my other chihuahua is very malambing to everyone.

I love dressing them up also but my other chihuahua is very small so I can't find clothes that fit him.

Chihuahuas are great pets!!!

My chi is very aggressive, though he can also be malambing at times kaya nga i'm more scared of him than my other dogs (big ones). Luisacart is so right when she said that because chi is a very small dog everything bigger than them is a threat kaya they can be very defensive.

thanks sis ayun sinanay ko siya sa sound ,ngayon medyo sanay siya, sunod2 kasi bagyo lately hehe di na siya nanginginig, lately napansin ko pag kumukulog ikot lang siya ng ikot then pupunta sa comfort zone niya which is under my bed, dun lang siya tago, then pag wala na kulog lalabas na siya =p

we have 9 chihuahuas. haha. ang adik lang. super likot nila. but they really love interaction. =) tapos magkakaiba rin ng ugali, nkakatuwa.

mga sis help!!! we bought a 5year old chihuahua 2 days na sya dito but i noticed kamot sya ng kamot and parang na aaliz mga balahibo nya. ...galing kami sa vet kanina nag pa skin scrape ako and negative naman daw sa mites but she insisted na paliguan ko parin ng amitraz shampoo yung chi ask ko lang kung sino na nakapag try ng amitraz sa chihuahua and kung may iba pa kau alam na remedy sa mange thanks

Sis, try mo yung Advocate na spot on treatment, its all around na, for mange, for ticks and fleas and for other parasites.I saw it in Cartimar kanina when I bought Frontline for my poor chi (who is flea infested). I'm coming back next time to buy Advocate.

sis hapi.bebe-pwede naman magplay yung preggy chi mo.we breed chihuahuas and same lang din sila when preggy,they play too.pero hindi super likot kasi nahihirapan din sila kasi mabigat tummy nila.
