@silverlilac: did your sister enroll your dad at 75years old? Or earlier? ano tawag sa plan and how much yung rate?

@MorenaBeauty: did you enroll your parents at 60years old? Nakita ko kasi sa site nila, yung 60-65 years old pang renewing members lang. So kung currently 60 na yung father-in-law ko and we want to enroll him, hindi na sya pwede?

Thanks for your feedback!

for those na may Maxicare under their employers, check nyo how their coverage work for pre existing conditions. normally kasi after a year pa ma "activate"

^it's not feasible to pool freelancers into one account and give a group discount because your group cannot be considered as a legal entity, so they cannot enter into a contract with a "group of freelancers", whereas a corporation is a separate legal entity that the HMO can enter into a contract with. so yes, for freelancers, there is no other way but to get an HMO as a principal member.

besides, kaya naman kayang magbigay ng discount ng HMO sa corporation kasi may minimum number of employees na requirement sila, which is impossible sa freelancers kasi by the very definition of freelancers, hindi sila naka-tali to one company. pero ang pinaka-basic answer is, a corporation is a separate legal entity that they can hold accountable. so kung freelancer ka, it's you as a legal entity na ka-kontrata nila.

^^Thanks for the explanation meimei. Since legalities lang pala ang pinagkaiba ng employees and freelancers, maybe there's some tweak or loophole in the law that'll allow freelancers or contract workers to classify themselves as a "legal entity". Kung meron, eh di an HMO can pool freelancers itself, offer a big discount, and voila, both parties happy. Parang groupon ang dating, where people can create a big group themselves so they can get the wholesale price or group discount. Just thinking out of the box here. We don't always have to stick to strict definitions of everything. Syempre ang habol ko lang naman dito is to get health insurance at a cheaper price. Mahal kasi kapag individual. The premiums I will pay as an individual will only buy me such a small coverage.

^Sis check mo sa medicard kung pano. Medicard din yung sa amin ni hubby, dependent nya ko. Sa amin naman, private open (kahit magkano room basta private). Nagkataon when i was admitted, suite lang available so dun ako napunta. And since mas mahal ang suite, pati PF ng doctor mas mahal kahit same doctor pa yun.

After weeks of research, I'm looking at availing an individual plan at Medicard for my HMO coverage. Meron ba kayong kilalang agent na okay?

Thanks! :)

i just received a quotation from Maxicare. we're self-employed and with Philhealth. i was wondering if worth it pa ba kumuha nito considering may deduction naman kapag may Philhealth sa hospital expenses. we got 2 kids so if ever, 4 kaming kukuhaan ng ganito. more or less 40k (1 adult + 1 child) a year so 80k na kaming 4.

^Like what a sis recommended to me as a self-employed person myself, sulit ang HMO if meron sa inyo sakitin, or you think pwede maging sakitin (because of poor eating habits, unhealthy lifestyle, bad habits, and etc.). But if not, you can get a cheaper, in-patient type of health insurance na lang, yung nag-co-cover lang just in case may ma-confine sa hospital. Tutal, yun naman talaga yung mamahalin na medical expense. Save the premiums, spend it on nutritious food, gym, or healthy activities na lang. Kayo na lang din gumastos for the annual checkup, tutal less than P1000 lang naman yun. Assess your needs, see what's a good match for your family and your budget.

Hi mga sis, when presenting your HMO card and ID, strict ba sila sa pagvalidate? Name in my HMO card, mali ang spelling, isa vowel lang naman. In their database, napaayos ko na spelling ng pangalan ko pero kailangan ko ba kumuha ng new card. Pero since hindi ko naman pagkakamali, I thought na papadalhan na lang ako ng new card, nung nagfile ako ng complaint. till now walang dumadating. May fee kasi for new card - case is if stolen. TIA

@sis ikaela. thanks sis. do you know any companies that offer yung in-patient health insurance? we were trying to consider Caritas kasi sana kaso ang daming bad feedback at talagang pahirapan naman daw sa pagkuha ng benefits.

@sis thansher01 - sis ilang taon na si mother nya para i can look at the amount kung magkano para sa individual. =)
