As sis miming suggested, try straightening your back, or improving your posture...not just while jumping, but all your waking hours.

:) You can slowly increase your sets as you get better. If you want, after each set of 30, you can try these back exercises while you catch your breath: http://www.belletoday.com/exercise/back-exercises.asp

I used to do some strength training and stretching in between sets as well, but if kapos ako sa oras, hindi na. :P

well... tip for the newbies sa jumping rope.

I tried using the P100 light ropes pero it just frustrated me.

Here is a quote from page 1

Quote
For me (akthung), the best jump rope would be leather rope attached to bearings, with wooden handles. Tobys used to sell these. The next would be that dense plastic rope, similar to the texture of rubber coating of electrical wires, also attached to bearings so it would turn fast during skipping. My driver uses old electrical cables which i have found fun to use too.

basically i dont like light ropes.

i was able to read an article regarding the correct length, i forgot how to determine the correct length, but if the rope is too long i just tie knots to shorten it.

If you want to know to correct length of the rope go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dtBfKsFEOo or http://www.wikihow.com/Jump-Rope

You may also go here for an alternative advice re: speed ropes (as opposed to weighed ropes): http://www.rossboxing.com/thegym/thegym26.htm

finally, be creative in your routines so wont bore easy.

PS: Jump rope will help you lose weight but do remember that if you want great SHAPE you need to develop your muscles (a.k.a. body building).

dreamfairy07,

i respectfully disagree that jumping rope will make one's legs big. Muscle development is due to weight/resistance training,  and even then girls will not develop muscles by just lifting weights simply because the female body is different than the male body. You will have to be lifting seriously heavy weights for a long time before you develop "big" muscles.

So what more when jumping rope, where you only use your own body weight.
Jumping rope will definitely not make one's "pata" big. Im living proof that you can actually be slimmer by using jumping rope. Its a great cardio workout for weight loss.

Another argument is boxers - jumping rope is a big part of their training but you don't see heavy muscled boxers - most of them have lean muscles due to the cardio effect of jumping rope.

If you wanna lose weight and yet maintain a certain body tone or proportion i suggest a low calorie and medium protein diet.

Disclaimer lang po:  I am not a dietitian so i suggest that you ask some one about diet menus.

i like this work out.. :)
i do this in front of the tv.. that way hindi ko namamalayan yung time..
i jump rope hanggang kaya ko (around 100 counts)  then rest for about 30 sec.. then ibang style naman tapos rest ulit.. hanggang umabot siya ng 30 to 45 mins..
pag naaaliw sa tv umaabot ng 1 hour.. ;)
mas nabobored pa kong mag sit-ups kesa dito..:p

Ok nga ito, i used to do this dati then when I stopped hirap na ulit gawin.. kaya kailangan talaga dito disiplina araw-araw dapat para masanay ang katawan..

^ Mahirap rin ang araw-araw...at least the way I do it, because I spend about an hour each day. 4x a week is what I go by. :)
