Gabriela? maaasahan ba naman ang mga yan? (no offense sa mga GTalkers na members ha?) ang tagal na nila sa Congress ah. they are more on press releases lang and are too busy in fault-finding.

face it, they're the legal front organization of the CPP and promoting divorce is not in their primary agenda. better approach the female lawmakers... pero out-numbered pa rin sila di ba? ;)

^OT: actually, marami nang nagawa ang gabriela kahit na patuloy silang dinidiscredit at ginigipit ng gubyerno. they have passed the magna carta of women and a couple of laws like anti-human trafficking and anti-violence against women and children. aside from these they have authored and supported laws that would benefit filipinos in general and not just women and children. so, cpp front or not, i would rather trust them rather than the self-serving trapos. (disclaimer: i'm not a member of gabriela)

i am pro-divorce and anti-violence against women and children.

mei napanood ako sa news lately.. i forgot what country (and kung law na ba sya or law na gustong i-pass) pero yun marriage license is valid only for 7 years. tapos after 7 years pwede mag-decide yun couple kung gusto nila i-renew yun marriage license nila or go their separate ways. yun ata sagot nila para mabawasan ang divorce. bawas gastos din nga wala ng divorce-divorce na aasikasuhin.

that proposal about marriage validity is also being studied in europe. imbes na you file for divorce, you go on separate ways and not renew your marriage.

in my opinion, mukhang okay nga yung may marriage validity or expiration. at least the couple is given a choice kung within that 7 year period eh di mag-work out ang marriage nila. they either "renew" or go their separate ways na lang. i come from a broken marriage, abusive as it is, that's why i know how it feels to be trapped in a bad marriage, lalo na at very limited ang financial resources to afford an annulment. i have all the grounds pero i cannot do anything to legalize the separation,  just yet. i don't know when, pero i'm still hopeful.

pilipinas na lang and and vatican city ang mga lugar na wala pang divorce. does this figure bears importance to us?

what do you guys think? ready na ba ang mga pinoy at pinay para sa divorce? do we need this? what are the implications of having this versus keeping it out of our society?

post away.

I think we need it. I appreciate that annullment and divorce are different things but from the way I see it the end result is pretty much the same. Why are we only giving  rich people the right to get an annullment?

The church is so behind the times. In reality people fall in and out of love. People unknowingly get into abusive relationships. Lets just say that yes they can just seperate and not get married again. But still its that chain that is wrapped around your ankle that is stopping you from feeling free again.

There is no way of entirely stopping bad things happen to good people. getting pregnant young, being abused, etc etc. But we can always save them from it with the divorce bill. Give them hope that there is still life after a failed marriage. Those are my thoughts.   - from someone who is happily married with her 2nd husband.

I vote yes for divorce. I dont see any significant difference between this and annulment. Annulment is for rich people. Mahal magpa annul..

Everybody deserves to be happy anyway..

di ba pwedeng idemanda or ipakulong yung abuser?

yun naman pala, walang significant difference. so where do we build the need for divorce since may existing ng system?

Di ko nga ba alam kung bakit ayaw pa iapprove ang divorce sa pinas, if they really value marriage, they should have not allowed annulment in the first place. Sa annulment they accept "infidelity" as a ground for nulity of marriage under Physcological incapacity (correct me if im wrong).

I dont think they accept infidelity as one of the grounds for annulment. Mental illness -yes they do. Dito pumapasok un psychological incapacity.

http://www.bcphilippineslawyers.com/grounds-for-annulment-of-marriage-in-the-philippines/447/

I dont see wife beating as one of the grounds correct me if im wrong. Baka pwede nila ipasok iyon sa mental illness?? I think wife beating and infidelity falls under the grounds for legal seperation. But with legal seperation, you cannot remarry.

correct me if im wrong, sa annulment kasi nililitis pa. The judge decides whether you get granted it or not.
sa Divorce its more paperwork lang I think. Ang issue lang talaga sa divorce is the seperation of assets or if children are involved, dun lang madalas humahaba ang discussion.

^ ang pagkakaalam ko ah, and i may be wrong, meron din atang judge. mawawala lang yung pag interfere ng office of the solicitor general. because there is this concept in the constitution that the state must protect the family kaya the OSG can appeal and or interfere with the proceedings. usually dun daw humahaba ang proseso ng annulment eh.

fyi, amy perez's marriage is not annulled and will never ever be annulled... the petition was denied by the Supreme Court.. meaning forever siyang kasal kay Brix Ferrari since hindi valid ground for annulment ang kaso nya..
