i'm in favor for divorce. The church is the one holding the issue...they're against it.

the church isn't in favor of divorce pero okay lang ang annulment. kung tutuusin its just the same...separation parin ang labas. since it boils down to one point din lang, dapat i-consider na din ang divorce.

I've watched the episode of Harapan last night. The Divorce Bill that was filed by Rep, Liza Masa has the ff grounds:

A PETITION FOR DIVORCE MAY BE FILED ON
ANY OF THE FOLLOWING GROUNDS:
(1) THE PETITIONER HAS BEEN SEPARATED DE
FACTO FROM HIS OR HER SPOUSE FOR AT LEAST FIVE
YEARS AT THE TIME OF THE FILING OF THE PETITION
AND RECONCILIATION IS HIGHLY IMPROBABLE;

(2) THE PETITIONER HAS BEEN LEGALLY
SEPARATED FROM HIS OR HER SPOUSE FOR AT LEAST
TWO YEARS AT THE TIME OF THE FILING OF THE
PETITION AND RECONCILIATION IS HIGHLY
IMPROBABLE;

(3) WHEN ANY OF THE GROUNDS FOR LEGAL
SEPARATION UNDER PARAGRAPH (A) OF THIS ARTICLE
HAS CAUSED THE IRREPARABLE BREAKDOWN OF THE
MARRIAGE;

(4) WHEN ONE OR BOTH SPOUSES ARE
PSYCHOLOGICALLY INCAPACITATED TO COMPLY
WITH THE ESSENTIAL MARITAL OBLIGATIONS;

(5) WHEN THE SPOUSES SUFFER FROM
IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES THAT HAVE CAUSED
THE IRREPARABLE BREAKDOWN OF THE MARRIAGE.”

For more details and guidelines, kindly look-up for HB 4016 Divorce Bill or at http://www.prolife.org.ph/article/view/526/1/87

I am 70/30 on this issue...70 for no to divorce for a lot of reasons one of which is the same as what the church thinks regarding the reason for a failed marriage, but with the clear grounds quoted above, divorce will not be as easy as some may have thought it will be and if the marriage is not reconcilable after exhausting all means, why not have the divorce.

Though, i still have some reservations for ground No. 4,  "Physcological incapacity"...  most of those who had successful annulments always use this ground... if it will be used for divorce, it can be abused to some extent. Just my POV.

i asked my hubby about implementing divorce. expect ko he would say no, dahil he is conservative. ako para sa akin ok lang,  importante sa akin ang sacred ng kasal pero at least may option tayo na maging malaya kung naabuso na tayo dahil sa indifference at pagbabago ng isa

wow... a lot of people are a go for divorce!

i am not for it but i'm ok with having that for women who are battered, abused and abandoned.  currently our annulment and legal separation laws do not protect women as much in a sense that our courts do not give these legal concerns a faster process.

I am all for the legalization of divorce in the Philippines. In the end, this is really for the best interest of everyone, for the couple and for the kids. It is difficult to grow up in a hostile environment wherein the parents are just staying together for the sake of the kids.

Although, annulment is allowed. It is not really helpful to couples who do not have the finances to go through the process. Mahal pag paannul. Aside from the fact that you have to wash your dirty laundry in the public just so you can strengthen your case. This experience will prove to be traumatic to the kids, as if the trauma of the couple separating isn't enough. In divorce kasi there's such a thing as no fault divorce.

Yes for Divorce. A lot of women in the Philippines are stuck to their previous marriages that didnt work out. Napakamahal naman ng 'price tag' ng annulment, so most women just go ahead and move on na lang with with their new life (and new man)... nakikipag-live-in na lang because they cannot get married anymore, tapos ang mga anak nila ay nagiging illigitimate.

Divorce should be legalized here in the Philippines.

It's just the same lang naman diba.

i am for divorce.

sometimes, people make mistakes. maybe they rushed into the marriage. or maybe the marriage was great for a while, but then they drifted apart. after all, people change as they grow older.

i don't think it's a good idea to tell these people that for the rest of their lives, they're stuck with each other. they can no longer remarry. and especially they cannot have children with someone else, unless they want to possibly end up in jail.

that's too much.

In my opinion, divorce should be legalized. As humans, we make mistakes and marrying the wrong person isn't something that you should be paying for, for the rest of your life. People should be given the chance to start over :)

i agree. with many other mistakes, we can start over. but on the issue of who we want to spend the rest of our lives with, if you make a mistake when you're younger, that's it.

you cannot remarry, without going through a difficult legal process. and if the relevant grounds are not applicable to you, then sorry, you can never remarry.

even if you later find the right man or woman. the person you truly were meant to be with. where the two of you are truly happy together.

sorry. that happy relationship can never be. because you made a mistake while you were younger. tough luck.

It is easy for me to say "no" kase okay ang marriage life ko but for the couple out there na hindi na happy and nagpipilit na lang for the sake of their children,di ba mas traumatic naman yung gabi gabi kayo magkatabi pag tulog pero there's no contenment or happiness na matatawag,so if the couple has the option like divorse it's easier na for them to move on and start a new life for the sake na din ng mga babies.
It is much better to settle things like financial support ng mga anak,properties,etc.especially pag both sides are willing to cut their marriage. :-\

it is better to have this option. always. it is the right that everyone should have. neither the church nor the government doesn't have anything to do with the couple's decision concerning what to do with their relationship. divorce isn't bad at all. the problem lies on the fact that there are people who don't know what they want or don't have any idea what compromise is.
