i'm okay with divorce if the grounds are at least one of the following
* addiction (to any kind: alcohol, drugs, sex, videogames  :D)
* abandonment (tipong at least seven years--kagaya ng declaring death if the body is not found)
* spousal abuse (physical/verbal/sexual), hindi counted emotional kasi mahirap iquantify yun)
* child abuse (sexual/physical)
* mental illness like schizo, bipolar, multiple personality (hindi counted psychological incapacity kasi generic term lang yan)

if none of the above, i think the proceeding for divorce should be extremely expensive and long. dapat may mga interventions munang dapat gawin ang mag-asawa bago umabot sa divorce like counseling, psychological chuva, trial separations, and all that jazz. the couple should literally exhaust all options before divorcing. and dapat may certification from authorities/experts na na-exhaust nila lahat ng options kaya divorce ang last resort. pag hindi pa nagagawa lahat, hindi puwedeng magfile ng divorce. the process should be so expensive and so long that it's a much better option to work things out.  ;D

in the same manner na dapat mas strict ang church and civil laws sa mga gusto magpakasal. dapat mahabang proseso din para mapag-isipang mabuti kung gusto nga ba ng couple na magpakasal. bawal dapat ikasal dahil sa grounds na nabuntis lang.

hindi puwede divorce kung ang grounds ay:
* irreconcilable differences (duh! kahit magulang mo, may irreconcilable differences kayo although puwede sila i-emancipate. ;D)
* falling out of love (this is not high school)
* didn't work out
* and some other mababaw reasons na ang bottom line is they look on divorce as an easy way out

I totally agree on all points! But for me, Infidelity should definitely be included as one of the grounds for divorce.

I hope divorce could be legalized in our country. Annulment & legal separation are too expensive. Only couples who have enough money can afford these processes. It's unfair.

I am agree to legalization of divorce especially if the gounds for divorce just like what the other sisses stated are present. Yun tipong its better if we go on separate ways kesa yung magsama tayo na patuloy lang nagsasakitan at marami rin naman naaapektuhan. Saka for those who have failed marriages especially those who are abused physically and emotionally by their spouses, siguro naman they have the right to be happy for the second time to the one who will accept them whole-heartedly. Saka para mawala na yung "trapped in a marriage wife", "martyr-battered wife", "the right love at the wrong time"... Pero syempre dapat for a married couple, they must not sort right away to divorce para lang makakawala na o makahanap na ng iba. Dapat muna, undergo sila sa maraming procedures, counsellings, etc. for them to find out if the marriage is still working or not.

i'm for divorce.

lalo na dito saten, dami pa din nagpapakasal for the wrong reasons. minsan dahil sa family, nabuntis bigla yung anak, pilit ipinapakasal kahit ayaw naman nung dalawang tao sa isa't-isa, tapos sa huli maghihiwalay din. i have a friend na ganyan. wala pa sila isang taon tumagal at ngayon super mahal ng annulment.

tsaka if the couple really wants to work at their marriage, they will really do it at hindi naman siguro makakasagabal ang fact na pwede na kasi ang divorce dito.

me, I think it should be legalized here too.  What's the point in being in a relationship where you are just hanging there because of legality matters? Pag me anak pa kayo, kawawa lang sila because they can actually feel that both parents does not love each other anymore.   Sayang ang time, mas naaapektuhan pa mga bata. Although, marriage should be saved, if there's nothing to be saved, e di tapusin na lang than mahirapan pa kayo pareho, pov lang ;)

I think kung i-legalized ang  divorce dito sa pinas sis, expensive pa rin like annulment and separation, opinion ko lang ha.

I agree with you...Who want a broken family wala naman di ba? but if your relationship is not really working out what's the use of being together kung mas maraming masusuffer. ;)

pro divorce. i super agree with sis leela1025. :)

dapat meron tayong signature campaign about this mga sis e para the government can hear out the side ng mga GTs, hehe....kaya lang as usual, those who are still close minded and are 'Maria Clara' effect na mga groups will try to stop this siguro. Pero tignan mo, dami na talagang kawawa na mga women because of abuse kaya nga dapat talagang gawin na siyang legal!!!

May annullment naman dito eh so parang ganun din though mas mahaba lang ang process and mahirap ma grant  ;)

I used to work in Court. That time medyo madali pa magpa annul unlike now.

i go for divorce. it would just be an additional choice for couples na hindi na talaga magkasundo. i's also a choice whether they want to work it out, go thru counselling, or whatever. pero pano naman kung you've tried everything pero hindi na talaga mag-workout? sana lang may strict pre-requisites before applying for divorce. di tulad sa states na parang laro...like britney spears na ilang oras lang married sa first hubby niya tapos nag-file agad ng divorce. that one is so foolish talaga.

Still pro-divorce.

even if i don't live in the philippines, i am still concerned about the people especially women...most especially battered wives and those who were married against their will.  i am PRO-DIVORCE IN THE PHILIPPINES..

and i agree with 10tequillashots.  a family can be broken even if the parents are still married.  so what's the point of staying together?  everyone wants a better life...and whenever somethings broken, throw it in the garbage and move on.  life's supposed to be like that right?

regarding children, its better for them to be raised by a single and qualified parent than growing up in the world of war....whether it can be a cold war or war of (bad) words.

I want sana na may divorce BUT ... I know it'll be abused!!

Easy way out ito eh!!

Dapat may guidelines..

 God hates divorce because of the damage it does. "For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, 'for it covers one's garment with violence,' says the Lord of hosts. 'Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously'" (Malachi 2:16).

totoo di ba, sis? My sister and I grew up in a very tense and stressful household because of my dad's infidelities and my mom's bitterness and silent rage. Don't get me wrong, girls - I love them both DEARLY - but that was no way to go through childhood and grow up. Buti na lang maswerte din kami ng sister ko sa mga naging friends and boyfriends namin and matino sila so di kami napariwara. :)
