Teaching as career

I have done some part time teaching masarap na mahirap maging teacher kasi you were given a responsibilities of giving knowledge to the students and you must give your student the right theories, application and data.

masarap kasi feeling mo your were back again to those old days in school na kung saan wala masyadong prob at easy go lucky lang.

I miss my teaching career.

I also wanted to teach, dream ko talaga to. I did some training work for 2 years and I'm missing it.

I'm thinking of taking up MA so that I can teach pero natatakot kasi ko sa mga interviews. hahah, feeling ko kasi wala ng naretain sa mga pinagaralan ko nung college.

But I really wanted to!

My sister is a prof in public College School, teaching is indeed her career, because kahit 3 months na silang hindi sumusueldo masaya pa rin siya sa ginawa niya, at to think malayo ang school from her place.

I just admire those people, especially my sister who can turn their back from variety of good offers that provides better compensation, just to pursue with their career.

Kudos to my sister and everybody like her!

i just graduated a year and a half ago, but i want to teach college students. i think, required ang MAdegree, but there are other schools that accept college instructors while they are taking MA classes. dont know where to start, but i want to try. please give advices and tips. thanks

^I was a fresh grad when I entered the academe. Wala akong plano magturo nun. Kailangan ko lang ng trabaho.

If you really want to enter the academe, here's my suggestion:

1. apply in a small time college and promise them that you will enroll in master's once you got the job.
2. enroll in master's and apply in a small time college.

Why small time college? Sila lang kasi ang me possibility na mag-hire sayo. Mataas ang MA requirements sa universities.

May tumatanggap talaga even walang MA units and teaching experience. Trust me. Tiyaga lang.

If you really want to pursue your teaching career, enroll in Master's, tapusin mo, then lipat ka sa mas magandang university.

@ momotakeshi : yeah there is, my sister is studying her Masters Degree while teaching, most of the time contractual ang mga teacher na ganun, as far as I know they also require the Civil REg exams.

Hi everyone! I'll join this thread since I plan to shift careers (I currently do HR work in a private corporation) and teach soon. Hopefully, I can teach pre-school or early gradeschool.

I'm actually a licensed teacher. Earned it last 2006. I took up a 6-month course in FEU to complete the 18 units to take the board exam and then another 6 months of SPED, also in FEU. So, basically, I'm a certified SPED teacher. I can teach either elementary or secondary education.

Anyway, so there, I just really miss the satisfaction of seeing children develop their skills and even being acknowledged by parents when they do well in school. By the way, I also tutored before, before I started working professionally.

I'm hoping to be able to teach by next year, but I'm really worried about the pay since I'm already used to my pay now. But I guess I'm willing to adjust as long as I know I'll be able to fulfill my "calling."

I took up my CTP at PNU and passed the licensure exam last 2008. Pero hindi ko pa napaparactice ang lisensya ko, still working in a corporate world. Last year I applied as teacher near our place. ang liit ng bigay, naisip ko baka provincial rate so hindi ko napursue since i have housing loan to pay pa. But now hubby told me to apply again kahit maliit ang sweldo as long as I'm happy, dadagdadagn niya na lang daw sweldo ko.  hehehheh. so sino ba ako para tumanggi diba. Well, hindi talaga lucrative career ang pagiging teacher, pero the fulfillment and hapiness is there so why not.

To those working in small but fairly-known colleges, how much is the pay per unit? maybe a range?

I am contemplating on accepting an offer from a college(not my alma mater). 2 days fieldwork, 1 day teaching.

I also want to teach.  Kaya lang my friends tell me, andami dami kong gusto hehe. 


I want to teach preschool kids.  Feeling ko kasi I'm able.  Kaya lang sobrang layo ng degree ko.  Is there still hope for me?

To those who applied sa certificate in teaching program of PNU or UP... what are the requirements?

I finished my bachelor from a different school. May required entrance exam pa ba kahit may Bachelor's degree na? Interview? Referrals?

I visited their websites, but i want real experiences nung nag-apply.

^Sis, I can answer regarding PNU's CTP. 

Meron pa ring entrance exam.  Pwede kang magapply for entrance exam kahit na you had your bachelor's degree in a different school.  Ala ng interview basta nakapasa ka ng exam.

Ang naalala ko lang nung sinubmit ko nung nagfile ako for entrance exam eh yung TOR ko nung undergrad course ko.

I heard from a friend na 32 units na lang kelangan to have a certificate in teaching.  Is that true? I am contemplating on getting one.
