Just an update:

She finally broke up with me last week. It hurts a lot especially I don't know what hit me. She ended it after nag away ulit kami last week dahil paulit ulit na niya akong nasasaktan for nearly 4 months whenever her hesitations will strike. Masakit lang because nagkakasundo naman kami despite the age gap at 90% of our arguments ay dahil lang sa pagbaliwala sa akin kapag umiral hesitations niya.

I can't help myself from telling her that ginawa lang niya akong practice/trial & error/pampalipas oras na boyfriend dahil hindi man lang niya ako makuhang mahalin sa lahat ng ginawa ko from sa ligaw at nung nasa relationship kami. I hate it when she said I'm the type of guy whom she and other girls would ever wanted. I asked her why pa niya pinatagal at pinahirapan ako kung from the start alam na niya ang age ko at age gap namin. She tried giving it a chance daw pero I think she's just pulling my leg because how can she give the relationship a chance when from the start (according to her) she had put a barrier already para hindi daw siya maattach at di mahirap kumalas. Todo deny siya that she made me a practice boyfriend and insisted that she love me kaya niya ako sinagot. I never imagine sa panahon ngayon ay may ganon pa rin tao na magpapaligaw tapos hindi naman pala kayang panindigan lalo na she's smart, mukhang mabait naman, may pinagaralan and have a good heart pero hindi man lang niya inivaluate ako sa 4 months na nanligaw ako. I feel 4 months is more than enough time to evaluate the situation especially super gulat niya after learning of my age on the 1st date.

Ang sakit lang because from the start I been honest with everything including my age and I told her that gusto ko long term relationship and even promised her not to rush her into marriage kapag hindi pa siya ready and I meant it. It turns out she's ready for marriage already because nung nahuhuli ko na yung problem niya about my age, I told her if we were the same age right now I'm sure she would include me sa future plans niya and would probably marry me kahit next year and she nodded. Ouch!

I never expected na siya pa magkakaroon ng problem sa age ko dahil alam na niya from the start. I don't know how can she give the relationship a chance when umpisa palang ay may barrier na siya and wasnt into me most of the time. I can't believe when she told me, bigla niyang narealized na di pala niya kaya age ko. I think that would be irresponsible sa part ng magulang because for a loving parents they wouldn't take risk so if they don't want their daughter ending up with an older guy then they should have stop her from seeing me kaya I think she's just making excuses already.

I'm in for long term.

I still hope and pray for her change of heart because I believe na kapag natanggap niya finally age ko and the gap ay magiging ok ang lahat. Kaya lang baka hanggang hope nalang ako kasi kung sa 8 months namin magkakilala including close to 4 months in the relationship ay di niya sinubukan tanggapin ako in spite sa mga ginagawa ko sa kanya then malamang hopeless na rin ito. Only a miracle will help me right now. I guess sa mga nagsabing ang first boyfriend ay practice boyfriend then malamang ganon nga nangyari sad to say.

^reading your whole story made me cringe. I am really sorry to hear that you guys have broken up. But also, after reading everything, i guess more than sad i feel a sigh of relief. Seriously, the relationship was made to be doomed.

I agree that the age gap issue is petty to even consider a break up. Here's the thing -- i don't think it's the actual issue. She does not and did not love you. I think it is true that she indeed made you a practice boyfriend. But i had to question you shoving that to her face. If she had said yes indeed you were a practice boyfriend, would you feel better? I doubt. She was definitely trying to candy-color your break up by saying no, and that she loved you.

Although as i see it, you have your own personal issues as well. Do you really want to marry her? Or do you just want to marry? Im sure you know those are two different things. It's just not usual for a guy to always bring up marriage to someone who is obviously not that into him. Simula pa lang alam mo na yan, pero you kept on pushing. Why do you want to marry her anyway? Dahil mahal mo? Will that be enough kahit na sort of unrequited? If she said yes she will marry you, and eventually you actually got married, can you genuinely say you'll be happy with her knowing she'll treat you like that for the rest of your married life?

Just my two cents. But obviously you two guys are on a different page. It's better that you split this early. And by the way, four months is not really long.

Congratulations! The one meant for you is probably on her way to your life. Smile :) It may have been a bad ending for your relationship, but it's not a bad life. Keep loving.

Look at this way:

Instead of saying, she made you a practice boyfriend, what she really did is she tried to love you and gave you a chance in her heart. I personally believe it came to the point that she did but because you keep on complaining to her about her lack of warmth, then Im sorry but that might have turned her off. Im not saying what she did is correct but it is also her prerogative and right to date, and be in a relationship and see if the relationship will work or not. Ganyan naman talaga pag mag BF and GF diba? Wala pa kayo sa marriage kaya you cannot blame her  if her actions speak as if she is not committed. maybe you were not really sincere too when you told her, you are not rushing her into marriage because from the tone of your message, gustong gusto mo na talaga siyang pakasalan kahit ngyon pa lol.

well, blessing na rin na pinakawalan ka na rin nya and like Simang said, 4 months is not that long.

Thanks.  Until now I can't stop thinking what happened and what hit me. If I were to rely on my gut feel then I think she never love me kahit na she keep insisting it. Age has probably been a factor as well pero mahirap lang tanggapin because I have been honest about it from the very beginning. I'm still hopeful for a miracle and I told her that.

@cecilydee - Speaking of marriage, she led me to believe from the beginning that she's not ready for marriage hence I promised her I won't rush her. Pero lately, few weeks before the break up, she agreed that she might include me on her plans in life as well as get married kahit pa next year kung magkasing age lang kami ngayon and that hurt a lot because she's open to marriage all along. She said paulit ulit bumabalik yung hesitations niya dahil sa age ko kaya paulit ulit rin kami nagkaka problema. Pinag didiin niya until now that she loved me at kung hindi ko daw nafeel yun or naniniwala then parang lang daw kami naglalaro. I may have my shortcomings of complaining when she's not into me pero I can't help it rin coz I know she's not like that and she agrees that she's not naive pagdating sa love. Thanks.

Even if you were forthcoming about your age during the courtship, it still is difficult to fully grasp the consequences of your relationship. I think the novelty of the relationship seems to have faded and reality has just hit her.

As someone who is also in a similar relationship (yes, 16 years age gap din)
My partner and I have been together for almost 2 years and I still find myself asking questions like: When will we have kids? Will he live long enough to see them through college? Will my kids have birth defects? What happens if he dies on me too early? Will we even be able to get married and the live the life we've dreamt of?

Since most of the women here are operating on the assumption that she never loved you, just let it go, whether she really did or did not is but a question that will give you sleepless night with no reprieve. It won't do you any good to bang your head against the wall. Be thankful that she dropped you before things started to get serious.

And as silly as it sounds (kasi nga naman hindi mo naman madidiktahan ang puso) date someone closer to your age. Look for women who are actually willing and ready to settle down.

Good luck :)

My advice for you is to grow up. Stop chasing those who clearly don't want you. Maybe a real love story awaits you once you stop chasing after this fairy tale failure.

"sometimes there are no words, no clever quotes to sum up what has happened.
Sometimes you do everything right, everything exactly right and still feel like you failed."

I feel for you. It happens bro.
But what's good about this is that now.. you are free!
Free from a relationship that is so insecure. Who wants that anyway?
We all deserve to find that one true love
that is sincere and secure (without a single doubt).

Romantico - bilang nakakatanda, you should have known better. Between the two of you, ikaw dapat nagpapangaral sa kanya and hindi yung makikinig sa kanya or sa sinasabi nya.  Because it seems her thoughts are not stable pa which shows her immaturity.

Nung sinagot ka ng GF mo at nararamdaman mo na may pag aalangan sya, you could have asked some space for her to "think" about the situation.  Kung nagbago isip nya, she can contact you again, that is, kung available ka pa.

Or is it something like ayaw nya aminin but her actions speak louder than her explanations?

I can't help myself from telling her that ginawa lang niya akong practice/trial & error/pampalipas oras na boyfriend dahil hindi man lang niya ako makuhang mahalin sa lahat ng ginawa ko from sa ligaw at nung nasa relationship kami.

Hindi mo matuturuan ang puso.  She does not owe you her love just because you did things for her.

Magkaiba kasi kayo ng generation. Yung generation kasi ata ngayon ginagawa ang GF/BF stage as getting-to-know stage. Samantalang the wiser generation, ang getting to know stage ang panliligaw, dating, asking questions/background, knowing the personality of the other person, etc.

Nung nag umpisa palang kayo, ang dami nang advices dito na nasabi na she is no good for you, ikaw ang nagpumilit. And yet ngayon, sya ang sisisihin mo. Especially knowing ang age gap ninyo, you should have known better because ikaw ang nakakatanda and you were supposed to be the wiser one.

Pero nung sinagot ka nya, you were happy and accepted it as SINAGOT KA NYA.  Kung alam mong hindi nya ikaw inevaluate nang husto, sana pinagsabihan mo rin sya kung sigurado ba sya, helped her clear her mind and understand her thoughts, her requirements (if any), her criteria for a BF/husband. Did you align expectations with her nung sinagot ka nya?  Ano ang responsibilities ng GF/BF with each other - at nag agree ba kayo?  Sayo, 4 months is enough for you to evaluate her, pero sa kanya, mukhang di nag-e-evaluate but just going with the flow.  And I think it is because she is not mature enough to look at things that way pa, unless may magsasabi sa kanya (na pakikinggan nya) at mag-o-offer ng framework for her to fully evaluate the situation.

You are partly to blame as well.

Well, in this case naman kasi, you have to realize, nung sinabi nya "nabigla" sya, eh baka nga totoo. This is a sign of immaturity on her part, at hindi pa nga ganun ka stable ang mindset nya/decision making.  You have to understand hindi kayo magka edad and it seems for her everything is just not as serious as you picture things to be.

Masakit rin because I think napaka babaw ng age gap reason especially marami na rin success stories nowadays.

Success stories are due to the maturity of the 2 individuals, kahit malayo pa man ang age gap nila.  Sa inyo, malayo nanga ang age gap, the girl is not mature enough to cope pa.  So hindi talaga kayo swak for each other.

Hindi mababaw ang reason na age gap.  For me it is an important ingredient in finding a life partner. I doubt. So there.

Don't you get it?

It is not only the age gap.  It is the immaturity of the girl, on how both of you view things differently.  In fact, this age issue is just a symptom of a deeper issue between you.

Worse, sarado ang utak nya and you cannot convince her no matter what.  You see, if she is not mature enough, kahit pa hindi nya alam, she can listen to you and be open minded.  And if you are also good enough for her, you could have given her advices din. They "listen" to each other and share the same understanding.  Sa inyo, wala iyan. So kahit pa masolve ninyo ang issue ng age gap, sorry to say, hindi parin mag-w-work ang relationship ninyo.

Thanks.  Until now I can't stop thinking what happened and what hit me. If I were to rely on my gut feel then I think she never love me kahit na she keep insisting it.

Well, love can be relative.  Puede para sayo iyan. Pero para sa kanya, she never lifted a finger for anyone, pero sayo may nagawa sya na hindi nya normally ginagawa for others.

Age has probably been a factor as well pero mahirap lang tanggapin because I have been honest about it from the very beginning. I'm still hopeful for a miracle and I told her that.

Sabi mo hindi ka nya minahal and still you are hopeful?
Sya sinisisi mo and now you are hopeful for what?

@cecilydee - Speaking of marriage, she led me to believe from the beginning that she's not ready for marriage hence I promised her I won't rush her. Pero lately, few weeks before the break up, she agreed that she might include me on her plans in life as well as get married kahit pa next year kung magkasing age lang kami ngayon and that hurt a lot because she's open to marriage all along. She said paulit ulit bumabalik yung hesitations niya dahil sa age ko kaya paulit ulit rin kami nagkaka problema.

Alam mo bro, with how she has agreed to be your GF then ikahihiya ka.  Then now claiming na open sya sa marriage, naniniwala ka pa sa statement na iyan?

Kasi sakin, the moment na pumayag sya maging GF mo, and yet hesitant pala all along - it only reflects either of 2 things.  She is a player OR you just cannot trust her words.  Puedeng iyan ang nararamdaman nya ngayon kaya nya sinasabi.  Pero bukas, puedeng hindi na.  So lumalabas ang pag ka unreliable ng mga statements and actions nya - and para sa mga taong ganyan, mapa lalaki man o babae, it will be hard to establish a relationship, more so maintain one.

Next time, be wiser.  At kapag ikakasal na, be more wiser pa!

So kahit pa masolve ninyo ang issue ng age gap, sorry to say, hindi parin mag-w-work ang relationship ninyo.

Thanks for the lengthy insight.

Actually from the courtship stage until naging kami ay never ako nagkulang ng pag aadvice sa kanya at pag eexplain. Never kong pinabayaan ang relationship or let it run on its own course. Tuwing may nagbobothered sa kanya, I always take the time to explain things to her kahit na I have to explain the same topic more than once. I always encourage her to speak up because communication is key.

During the courtship, her dad once asked her to think about the whole thing because matagal na kami lumalabas nun at mag-eexpect na ako na we would go into a relationship eventually. May issue na siya about the age from the beginning pero she kept saying that it's not about what other people will say because kung mahal mo yung tao it doesn't matter what other people will say pero I guess hindi niya ineexpect na hindi niya kakayanin. Mas problema niya before what I and her would be like 10 years from now and lately na niya inamin na hindi niya kaya sinasabi ng tao.

Sa katunayan, whenever I explain things to her or give advice, I always do it fairly meaning hindi ako nag eexplain or give advice na tipong convincing her or yung tipong trying to convince her to turn a blind eye from the situation. Whenever something is bothering her about the age, I laid facts in front of her rather than hide it. I laid all the possible problems that will come like what other people will say and I even told her 90% of people might question her. After I listen to her problem, I lay down the facts and offer her advice and insight without hinting of convincing  or pressuring her. I believe I been patient in guiding her kaya lang ang problema, whenever I explained things to her whether thru phone or in person, nahihimasmasan siya agad at nakikita kong naiintindihan niya pero kapag hindi na kami magkasama ay bumabalik na naman mga hesitations niya. She's always grateful whenever I explain things to her because na-eenlightened daw siya at naliliwanagan kaya lang kapag di na kami magkasama ay nawawala na siya sa hulog o sa ayos. She even tell me one time that she don't understand kung bakit di niya minsan magawa or mag come around kahit todo effort ako sa pag guide sa kanya at sa relationship namin.

I believe I have done everything I can to guide her and to offer advice and explained things to her. Kaya lang until now parang wala rin maganda nangyari because no matter what I do and no matter how much love I shower her ay hindi niya nakuhang alisin mga hesitations niya.

Yes I'm still hoping for a miracle because I still love her. I don't blame you for wondering why I'm still hoping but for me, anything that's not a 3rd party problem ay fixable pa rin. Medyo mahirap nga mag trust sa words niya right now but then I believe kaya siya ganon ay dahil sa hesitations niya at higit sa lahat immaturity. In short may reason naman kaya ganon siya but not because she's a player. So for me it's still fixable to the point that we can talk and laugh about it freely in the future without sparking any anger unlike kung 3rd party issue ay mahirap pag usapan without some chance to spark sama ng loob o sumbatan. To be honest sa ngayon ay hindi pa rin ako maka-let go pero I hope in due time. Sabi nga nila time heals all wound so baka ganon nga. I always have this urge to communicate with her and try to win her back pero pag nakahanap na ako ng work or matuloy yung pinaplano kong business para may something new akong sasabihin because aside from age gap ay hindi ko alam kung nagcontribute rin yung wala akong work that time.

idk romantico, i read your first post here, and it seems like you're also a NGSB, you sound too excited, clingy and all that. and why are you asking if normal ba this and that?

anyway, i guess she got overwhelmed by you as well aside from the fact that she's not that into you. idk, i guess i'm the type of girl who likes the suplado type kaya if you'll basically stop jump whenever i asked you to, i'll get bored fast and medyo off sa akin yung ganun.

but i did have my first love/relationship as well and sobrang sarap ng feeling, just like what sis aquacharly said here, as in the world can be ending now and i'll still be happy and giggling as long as i'm with my love. i'm still happy even if i failed an exam, or my mom scolded me, i'm still very happy. and yes, i wanted to be with him every second of everyday, i wanted to be surrounded by his scent and kahit di kami nag-uusap or wala na kami mapag-usapan, okay lang, what's important was that he was around.
lol natatawa nga ako eh, he has just dropped me off to my house after spending the day together and i'm missing him already. as in ganun. when girls fall in love, they their all, like for me, as in siya yung nagiging center ng mundo ko (and ugh i should change that already).

and honestly, i guess you got caught up A LOT with the idea of having a girl as well that you went as far as saying na siya na gusto mo for this lifetime, and i'll be brutally honest, you're only with her for less than a year (i'll peg it at around 4-5 mos of being together) and your saying that plus the shitty way she was treating you, it made you look pathetic and turned her off.

gusto ka nya lagi kasama dapat, no matter what. and that is not something you can dictate.  it should come from within her.

I have just read yung latest post mo romantico, i was once in a situation na i cant let go (na also not fully requitted love) , na i gave all of the love i can ever give in this lifetime, i kept on hoping and praying and kept on being positive na my love will conquer and will be greater than whatever it is that's stopping him from loving me to the same level as i love him. I kept on staying strong for us, so that our reationship will not fall apart, dahil alam ko na it's on rocky road. But in the end of it all, despite all my efforts, he never did. And he ended it.

It was a very dark and down moment in my life. Naging center siya ng buhay ko. I lost myself in loving him, back then when we were still together naiisip ko na yun, but i just shrug it off and thought of it na at least i'm giving it all and I'll not regret it in the end. Actually even after the breakup, i still kept on hoping and praying na he will come around. Then i realized, with the help of family and friends na ishould never have to fight for a space in his life, na if he is the one already, everything will be easy. That in truly loving someone, that person should never mke you forget to love yourself as well.

It took me sometime and some more humiliation before coming around to the fact that there'll be people who'll never love you no matter what you do. And yes, now i know na if that person is "the one", it will all be so very easy, you wouldn't have to fight for a space in his heart and in his life. It wpuldn't be difficult and he will have all the characteristics of your dream man and those na di masyado match, you'll realize na you actually prefer his imperfections and  awkwardness and weirdness ovr whatever it is that society deems right, excellent or perfect.

Wow. At your age hindi ka pa pala financially stable? Lahat ng di okey nasa yo ah, age gap, clingy and not financially stable. Can't blame your ex why she broke up with you. Sorry ha. I think you badly need to fix your self first before ka maging kaibig ibig. Let's be realistic okey? It's not all hearts really.. mind should also work. Malamang ganun ang ex mo.

Love cannot be forced.

IMO, the basic issue is that there really was no spark in her for you.
It wasn't the age gap, your being unemployed/needy/etc etc.
After all, don't we hear in this forum of GFs/partners/wives who persist in relationships  ( through financial & even  painful 3rd-party problems ) with men of limited means/ambition?

IF there was Love, she would've been blind to your faults/inadequacies.  Or, very accepting/tolerant thereof.
So it wasn't due to her immaturity/being NBSB.
As the others stated: She just wasn't into you.

Move on. Fix your life.

And you should start on letting her go. Di mo ba naisip na you're also preventing her from being happy? I guess mas nag-iisip and mas wais sayo yung girl, despite all your explanations and reasoning and assurance, as long as she will stay with you, kahit magpakasal kayo and all, she'll never have a "quiet and at peace" moment in her life dahil all her concerns and insecurities with you and the relationship will rear its ugly head every now and then.ang hirap, hirap kaya ng may ganon, so i'd say it's a good decision on her part to break up with you kesa naman now and again mahihirapan siya kasi nagdoubt siya. It's likeripping a band aid off, better na one big sweep kesa pa-onti onti.

Let her be with a man who'll she'll be proud of, have confidence with and be assurd of and who wouldn't make her doubtand anxious. Let her be happy.
