Ang pino-problema ko is the college graduation ball which I failed to attend (LMAO).

Actually, debut parties are OVERRATED. You need to be a complete extrovert or someone who has LOTS of friends and loyal peers to have a debut party. Don't worry, I feel the same with you, but I just thought that I will be simply happy because I am legalized. That's all.

one way of getting over a depressing event in life, is to create a better memory than your expectations.

kumbaga, if your dreams of buying a japanese sports car was spoiled, buy a porsche.

something like that.

daigin mo yung original mong pangarap. and you'll forget it.

i dunno about others but it works for me.

so maybe you can plan a wonderful 30th birthday.

Dreaming of having a porsche and actually procuring one is easier said than done :D

Just try to get over the fact that you did not have that coveted grand debut than most of your friends probably had.  Work hard, save lotsa money and get your dream wedding.

I had the best wedding ever, with the nicest, most loving husband in the world!  There will come a point when you won't really think of how sad you were for not having the things you hope you had during your youth. It's just the cycle of life.

it was an analogy lang.

the point of the analogy is to get something better. better does not necessarily mean more expensive.

for you it worked because to you, a wedding is something better.

the point that i'm trying to stress and share as someone who has gone through depression, and lived through it, is do come up with something better....and better if its in the same class or scenario...

you see part of the solution to depression is vindication imho not a haphazard replacement of something.

again, my point is, to achieve something better that satisfies the depressed person's standards.

you'll know what this means if you go through depression yourself. syempre i hope you will not.

i never dreamed of having a debut party nor asked my parents for it. i was well aware how hard our life was before and i'm proud of myself to be that understanding. so when i was already earning my own money i made it a point that i gave my younger sister the 18th bday party she wanted :)

I had my debut party at a hotel with my family and friends years ago. But looking back, now that I'm already 28, I don't feel that it was really that "special".

You'll get over it.

Ako din I had a grand debut last 1996 in a five-star hotel and I can barely remember it.  It did not make me feel special or anything.

What was important was that I was with my family and friends which happens naman regularly even without that kind of party (Thank you, Lord.).  More than 80% of the persons in that party I don;t even see anymore and looking back, the money spent there could've already sent a couple of kids to school.

It's not the parties that are important but the memories that you make with loved-ones.  So don;t be depressed na and just invite your friends or your mom to go out and get coffee, watch a movie, or start a hobby.  ;)

Ang sad no? Acflly bitter ako sa birthday celebrations huhu. Lagi kasi kaming tinipid. Ganyan lagi taon an. Tapos yung importanf occasions like birfhday sini celebrate naman talaga yun. Parang ordinary day lang talaga siya for us every year.

Wala kasing nag effort na gawin yun for me. Actually, tuwing birthday ko 2-3 tao aside from my family lang nakakaalala.

Haaay. Naiiyak tuloy ako habang nagrarant ngayon :p

I did not have a debut. And I am perfectly happy about it.  I think nasa disposition mo din kasi yun. Ano ba ang maidudulot ng debut for you?

Nor do they buy stuff for themselves. So when we were growing up, wala din expectations. There were years that I do not want to celebrate my birthday as well, kasi meron akong dinadalang problema.  But it was fine.

If I were to have a church wedding, it should only be attended by family members. No best man, bridesmaid, maid of honor, usher... nope. Not in a million years will it happen.

I also did not have a debut and I got over it.  What I had was the wedding of my dreams.  My husband and his family gave that to me, because they knew I did not have a big celebration when I was 18 even though I wanted one.

I didn't even had an icecrem on my 18th bday, didn't bother me much anyway, nacocornyhan din ako sa debut celebration anyway.

I didn't have a debut, simple dinner lang sa bahay. I will also not have a grand wedding.

wala din akong debut. ako kang yung taong i never wanted to parade around in a gown. even my wedding was very simple.

in place of a debut, my parents have me money to throw a beach party for my friends from college and high school. small celeb lang - i think 10 or 12 lang kami, max. weekend trip lang din. we rented a beach house. it was more memorable for me kasi kasama crush ko (hahaha) and it was my first time to drink beer!

siguro the cost of that trip is wala pang 1/10th ng cost ng debut. but somehow mas memorable sya.

I also didnt have a debut. The only bday party i can remember was my 7th and I was so happy at that time. Hindi din naman uso sa province before and debut.

But for our girl, para makabawi, we have a yearly party for her hopefully til 7th then we are hoping to give her a debut party if in case she would like to have one and we will give her whatever we can afford. I think this kind of celebration fits a certain personality.

Bawi ka na lang sis sa daughter mo (just in case) or think of othe happier memories during your teen years. 👸

i also didn't have debut but i don't regret it coz there's no point crying over spilled milk.

what i had was a small lunch (because we still have afternoon class after) with a few friends and future hubby at our house.

but, if you really want to have that debut, there is no other way than to just get over with it (that is if keri mo mag "debut" at 30). i think that's the only solution if you're really depressed with not having big party.
