Powerbooks, definitely. Mas sulit sa akin ang Powercard compared to Laking National, kasi Powercard outright 10% discount na and you earn points pa at the same time, while sa Laking National you have to earm the points before you get any discount off your purchase.

National used to be good back when they had their courtesy card (10% off imported books and greeting cards any time), but they discontinued that nung linabas ang Laking National card. I still have mine though, pinaparenew ko nalang lagi.

In terms of selection, Powerbooks is usually better than most Natio branches, though the one in Shang Plaza and the Cubao Megabranch are almost comparable. I like the Natio branches na nakahiwalay ang floor ang school/office supplies section sa books.

Powerbooks belongs to Socorro Ramos's grandchild. Naging teacher ko siya sa Statistics nung college (hehe), and we always kept joking that he should give out free Powercards for the whole class. Ok rin mag namedrop whenever you're looking for something, particularly sa Mega branch, kilala kasi siya dun, so the staff tend to pay more attention to you.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the Powercard Plus that allows the buyer to get a 10% discount? For the Powercard naman, I believe you can only avail the discount for a minimum purchase of 2,000 PhP. You can, however, upgrade to Powercard Plus if you accumulate 15,000 points (1 PhP = 1 point) within a year. If you want, you may sign up for a Powercard Plus na agad provided that you reach 5,000 PhP (I think) in a single purchase.

Anyway, I like Powerbooks over NBS since they specialize in books and do not carry school/office supplies. Hence, less people. In addition, they do have better customer service and a wider array of books.

Oops. Got my card a long time ago kasi. Wala pang Powercard plus noon, so yung blue na Powercard ang may 10% discount. My card's been upgraded already but I still tend to think of it as a Powercard.

Hehe. Kaya mo yan sis! Me, I begged receipts from my friends and family para mabuo yung 15,000. Wala kasi and Powerbooks outright purchase option for the Powercard Plus like what Fully Booked has for its discount card e.

diba if you're already a powercard holder, you can just pay a fee to be upgraded to powercard plus? i think that's what i did eh.

If you got your Powercard during the time that they didn't have the Powercard plus yet, then you'd already collected the 15,000 needed. So when you renew your card they automatically convert it to a Powercard plus.

They gave existing Powercard holders (those who collected 15,000 pesos worth  and were given Powercards prior to the dicision of the loyalty program into Powercard and Powercard Plus) the chance to upgrade their cards back when they first released the Powercard Plus. That's what I did.

i remember that i didn't really complete the 15,000 needed. nagkataon lang na my cousin from the US was here then and she bought i think about 12,000 worth of books in one go. tapos binigyan na kami ng card.

there was also a time na they gave a free powercard to existing powercard members. parang give it as a gift to anyone. i gave it to my sister.

Natio, Powerbooks and Fully Booked aside though, I'm still wishing that someone would open a Borders franchise here...

Pareho lang may-ari nito right pero Powerbooks caters to the AB class ata kaya mas wide ang range ng selction ng books nila.

Tsaka they have specialty items like tarot cards.
