I?m torn between writing ?professional? music and Folk.

Lately I?ve been in a creative deadlock because I feel like the typical attitudes of different genres of music that I want to create contradict each other. What I mean is, I?m a huge fan of musically ?professional? genres like metal and swing, but I also really love folk and singer/songwriter music. I have hundreds of note documents on my phone filled with concepts and lyric ideas, but I can?t seem to put them together because I feel like depending on how I want to express these themes musically, the wording of my lyrics will change. I don?t know why but I have the subconscious idea that artists who create things like metal have a very professional/mysterious attitude and artistic presence compared to singer/songwriters who seem very open and humane towards their work, I admire both but I feel like I cannot do both and I don?t know why. People have told me ?just have fun with it? and stuff but I can?t move on because I feel that any route I chose to take will leave me feeling unfulfilled. I hope this made sense 😅
