How much do you pay for daycare?

My husband and I have talked about possibly have one child together. We are considered middle class and live comfortably. However, the thought of paying $1500+ a month for daycare/nanny is difficult. We both don?t have friends who live here with kids so our frame of reference for childcare is slim. All our friends with kids moved away down south where it?s cheaper or have family help. We already decided if we can?t find an affordable option during our research, then we won?t even try to have a baby.

We live in Brooklyn if that makes a difference and we don?t have family who live nearby that can help.
