Who else auditioned for Alexander (Oliver Stone)?

Have done some searching, but was Colin Farrell the first choice? Was anyone else in the running? It wasn't a great movie, but if it had been anyone else but him I feel like it might have been treated more favourably in hindsight. Did the studio push for him for some reason https://showbox.bio/ https://tutuapp.uno/ ?

That's not to detract from Farrell I feel like he has his lane and is capable of good performances and he's done some fine work objectively. But I struggled in my own head to cast this role. Anyone have any suggestions?
