What?s your opinion on domestic helpers?

My family employs a maid because I?m staying with my grandmother and she?s quite frail with health. Maid also helps out with chores of course, as my grandmother don?t need supervision all the time. I live with only my grandmother and brother.

I however had someone (my boyfriend, lol) tell me today that I should be handling my chores myself and let the helper take care of my grandmother only as I?m 27, and needs to be independent. I?m being labeled as entitled for having a helper help with household chores because my family is able bodied apparently.

Honestly? I already clean my own room myself and take care of meals and sheets etc. the only thing the helper does for me is laundry, because she does everyone?s laundry together. Also it?s none of anyone?s business if the maid is employed to do chores in my family but this person keeps trying to reason with me saying I?m too entitled.

Please give me your opinions and thoughts on this. I?m torn.
