Exercise and OCD? Does it make it better?
« on: February 25, 2021, 02:38:40 pm »
So some background, I used to be really fat, then I lost a bunch of weight and became a runner. Then my OCD started going full bore. I haven't really exercised regularly in about two years, partly because my "contamination" and "checking" issues would play out while running and it was torturing me. Just easier to NOT do it then. Anyway, I keep reading about exercise to HELP OCD so I just went out for a run. I'm pretty out of shape, but I tried HIIT to see if I can "spike" seratonin or dopamine or whatever and see if it will get the OCD a rest. Unfortunately that seemed to make my OCD go bat s*** crazy for a while after my run. Maybe because I was so exhausted and did too much? I don't know. Has anyone helped their OCD by exercising? Thanks!
