AND ANOTHER ONE (Dj Khaled)...
For those of us who have only seen Gretchen like this, as La Greta?glamorous mama with a bitchy streak and a fabulous wardrobe?because we?re young and so haven?t witnessed her before her life as Tony Boy?s lady, and before she has learned to fight back, empowered by his money and before having grown up and coming into her own.....
I want you to watch her YouTube video where she is interviewed for her participation in the 1994 film fest scam.
Panoorin nyo to ha. Assignment for today:
https://youtu.be/-HJ1T8Vk-CYGretchen Barretto was the major whistleblower and witness to an orchestrated event when a manager named Lolit Solis swapped the names in an envelope so her wards would win in an awards show. Instead of keeping silent and not rocking the boat, the then 24-year-old Gretchen attended hearings and bravely told her side.
Back then, Gretchen was soft spoken, gentle, and talked in a completely different cadence and timber. In this video she was a completely different woman, even saying, ?Ayoko talaga ng kaaway. Gusto ko lahat kakampi lang.?
And yet this is the real Gretchen Barretto. Before all these. She was brave and kind, and at 24 years old, willing to do the right thing, even if it meant she was going to stand up against powerful people in her industry where she wasn?t even the biggest star. This is the kind of woman she really was.
If you see her latest IG post, makikita ninyo that she says she is happy that her mother finally said ?I LOVE YOU? to her. Yes, Gretchen is 50 years old and this is the first time she?s hearing her mother tell
her I love you. Her mother was a controlling woman who always made Gretchen feel bad, often telling her she was ugly and dark, and even physically hurting her (as Gretchen?s best friend revealed in 2013.) Gretchen was so badly treated by her parents.
And yet Gretchen still found it in her to help her parents, and then her siblings, and then their children.
At huli sa lahat, when we say ?TEAM MARJORIE? ako or ?TEAM GRETCHEN? ako, we are just perpetuating the cycle that has damaged these women.
We?re just standing in for their parents, who used to take sides. We?re just taking part in this pattern that needs to break, so they can finally be free of being pitted against each other by controlling parents. Both women?all Barretto children?are victims. They were all differently impacted by their parents. And by picking a side we?re all just being Inday and Mike Barretto. Sad how we don?t even know it.
It?s easy to say that they?re grown women and should know better, but to truly grapple with this issue one needs to extricate themselves from the toxic environment that caused it, and these women have been trapped in this abusive and toxic situation for a long time, because guilt trip, because Catholic teachings, because co dependency, because above all, emotional maturity is hardest to come by.
With the death of the father, there is a chance to move forward, in which they can fix this, or completely remove each other from their lives.
OO OBVIOUSLY THIS IS WEIGHING HEAVILY ON MY MIND. The more I think about this the more I feel sorry for the sisters. I want to hug them, I want to comfort them, i want to tell them they are good enough and loved, and they have so many other things going for them, and
I want their beauty to rub off on me hanggang magkapalit yung mga mukha namin.
Hay, how parents damage children without even knowing it.
