Disordered teeth problem

Hi,
I'm a 21-year-old student. I disliked my teeth and, wanted to get them fixed. My teeth are not in order so that I lost all my confidence to smile in front of others. I recently consulted a dentist in Burlington and, they suggested for orthodontic treatment. But I know that orthodontic work is a long, difficult and expensive procedure. Is there any DIY method which is less expensive and effective than orthodontic treatment? Please suggest any good method if you know any.
