Read Vice's original tweet, and I didn't find it offensive, sawa na sya sa negativity, gusto nya magshopping, end of story. Tao na lang naglagay ng malisya.

His tweet saying he's a millionaire because he is hardworking - I don't find it mayabang, he's just telling the truth.  He works really hard. So he earns his keep. End of story. Should he say it another way para mas 'humble'? Baka mas tawagin ko pa siyang ipokrito if he sugarcoats it just to please the reading public.

Hindi naman ako na offend nung tweet, pero ang POV ko diyan sa mga issue na ganyan eh sana maging humble na lang palagi.
Mas maganda palagi ang maging humble at nakaapak sa lupa ang ating mga paa.

Well said Sis! For me naman, if someone is successful, no need to be PA humble or put on fake modesty just to please others. Fake humility is as much of a turn off as being mayabang.

Ang daming mga mayayabang on social media (hindi lang celebrities) who conveniently use the "I worked hard for this" excuse to make yabang. "Let me show off kasi I worked hard naman" is a form of humble brag.

Vice can make yabang all he wants, he did work hard for it. But by the same token, he is opening himself up to scrutiny and criticism.
Truth is, most people don't like braggarts especially those who flaunt their excessive lifestyles on social media. There's a good reason many of the world's and even the Philippines billionaire familes don't flaunt their luxurious lifestyles, alam nila there will be a backlash. Kung magyayabang ka, eh di you should ready to face both good and negative feedback.

Kahit naman anong sabihin or i-tweet ni Vice Ganda, may masasabi at masasabi pa rin ang tao. That's the reality just because he is a public figure. Lage naman may bashers and supporters, na gagawin ang trabaho nila to bash and / or to support. Si Neri Miranda, halimbawa namamalengke and all, pero marami pa rin nasasabi kahit nagpapakahumble trying hard na nga sya or maaaring ganun lang talaga sya. Bago pa naging asawa ni Mariel si Robin, alam na nya kalidad ng tao na yan. Pero tinanggap at pinakasalan nya, so goodluck. Sa "history" ni Robin, ewan ko lang kung mag stick to one na sya ngayon. (well, I hope).

Vice -Hindi ako na offend. Haha! Para sa akin kasi, kahit naman ano post mo sa social media, meron masasabi ang tao. So kung ayaw mo may masabi, wag ka mag post. Sa case nya, nag post sya, so expect nalang may nega and positive comments.

Pero sa akin, hindi nakaka offend. Kasi totoo naman mayaman sya. Yung iba naman kasing tao lahat napapansin sa kapwa.. kapag nag humble post.. ang comment pa humble.. kapag nag flaunt, ang comment mayabang. 

Mas ok na yung  ganyan kesa nagpapaka Trying hard.  Choice yan ng tao. Meron mga tahimik lang talaga and low profile. Meron naman hindi. Pero at the end of the day, as long as wala silang pinerwisyo to buy and get what they want, keber sa madlang people.

It's not offensive for me since hindi ako affected sa tweets nya and never was a fan of him. But I don't have to be offended to say na he was very hypocritical of the very things he said on his show and that his tweets are arrogant and insensitive (again, also words he said on his show to describe same behavior). I don't watch his show but saw a clip of that going around.

No one is discounting the fact that he worked hard for what he has, and no one is saying to those who splurge that they didn't work hard for what they have (well, except for the likes of Gretchen maybe).  I also had the same lines before when my poor relatives would ask me for money because I had so believed that success is achieved by working hard.

It was my younger "woke" brother who pointed out to me how WRONG that thought is, how that comes from a place of privilege. He told me I never took into consideration that the reason why I got good jobs, in the first place, is because I had the privilege to be educated at the best schools in the country. That growing up in those schools and around successful people made me stand out in interviews because I spoke well and had confidence which poor people who didn't have the same opportunities wouldn't have. In the same way, other people get opportunities because they were helped by a friend, like Vice, to get their foot in the door. Not many who are hardworking, especially those in blue-collared jobs, would have the same opportunities. Kaya, yes, saying you're a millionaire because you're hardworking amidst a population of millions of poor people IS insensitive and arrogant.

Nakaka lungkot lang mabasa na itinataas ng isang tao ang sarili niyang bangko.

Yung mga chinese friends ko nga na mas mayaman pa di hamak kay Vice eh never ko nabasahan ng tweet o shoutout sa FB na "millionaire ako" "mayaman ako" "my life is sooooo goood" or "i am soooo blessed".. hehe.

Nakakatuwa lang kapag ang isang mayaman at pinagpala eh hindi na kinailangang ipagsigawan sa mundo na mayaman sila at pinagpala sila.
 
Pagiging humble.. napaka importante niyan. Lalo pa naman at bilog ang mundo. You'll never know kung bukas, nasa itaas ka pa.

Sana ma realized ni Vice Ganda yun and mas piliin niya sana na maging low profile at palaging mababa ang loob.

Napaka simple lang for me nung issue.

I am a mother of two kids, I dont teach my children na mag yakyak sa ibang tao ng "mayaman kami", "matalino kami" "maganda kami" etc. Palagi kong tinuturo sa kanila na hayaan nilang ibang tao ang magsabi nun sa kanila, hindi yung pupurihin nila ang kanilang mga sarili.

Pagpupuri sa sarili kahit totoo pa is a no no for me.

I want them to grow up loving themselves but well grounded, and to always respect other people and to always treat others fair.

Sa mga nagsasabi na mayabang si vice, actually yung sinabi niyang millionaire ako is pagpapatol na lang sa mga unang nag-bash sa kanya. Sa tingin ko masyadong walang ganap ang mga kabataan ngayon puro internet na lang kaya lahat na lang pinupuna. Palibhasa hindi busy sa buhay nila at may oras pa para mag bash ng kapwa.

I agree, this is how I interpreted it too kaya gulat na lang ako at all the attention this is getting, haha. I've seen my fair share of truly offensive/self-important/thoughtless posts online over the years and parang ang harmless lang talaga nito compared to those. Seems like just someone na yun nga, maybe momentarily overwhelmed by all the negativity and would like to focus on something else, something good, other than that for a change. Hindi ako fan ni vice and hindi ko alam kung ganito ba talaga sya all the time or kung mayabang talaga sya or what, but from that original tweet alone, I don't see him necessarily trying to put down anyone. Yeah, the wording might've been the disagreeable thing about it, ang harsh kasi pakinggan yung mga gay magsalita minsan di ba, tapos comedian pa, eh di lagot tuloy si vice, ang dami tuloy interpretations, ang daming galit, LOL. But I've already seen people post many variations of "my life is so good" and I just let them be. Kung their life is good, then great for them.

Bakit ka offended sa pagi-English ng mga woke kids na sinagot si Vice? As you said, privileged kids mga yan so malaking possibility that English is the language they grew up with, that they may be more comfortable with it than Tagalog and not because feeling nila matalino sila dyan.

Ang sinasabi ko lang yung mga nagca-callout kay vice na privileged siya are not from marginalized sectors. Mga rich kids din yan na may pang-gastos sa luho. At yang same kids na yan wala yang pakialam sa mga totoong mahihirap basta may pambili sila ng milk tea at starbucks nila.

Paanong hindi sila feeling matalino? Sus kung makapuna nga ng grammar mga yan wagas e. Bastos pa kung magcorrect ng grammar at spelling ng mga tao.

Vice never bragged about his riches in his first post.  Yung mga pagyayabang niya is mga follow-up posts na lang dahil sa mga bashers niya. Saka galing si vice sa hirap. He never said he was elitista/genius/witty or anything. Although di excuse yun maiintindihan mo kung bakit magaspang din ang ugali niya. Siyempre bakla sa kalye yan. You can take the bakla out of the kalye but you cannot take the kalye out of the bakla.
