Hi mga sis! Kamusta mga nasa HK ngayon? Ano latest sa mga protesters? Ok pa rin ba mag travel?

I heard weekends lang yung protests pero natatakot ako sa mga nababasa ko sa FB. August 12-16 kami nasa HK pero nagpaplano na rin kami for our plan B kasi mahirap na, may kasama pa kaming 5 yr old.

^i've bee monitoring din kung safe ba to travel to hk or not since kasama ko din yung 10 year old ko this october. from what i've read, okay naman daw so far and hindi naman affected yung mga tourist areas. if worse comes to worst, baka ang gawin na lang namin is to go to macau via ferry if hindi ganun ka-safe by the time na dumating yung travel period namin.

anyway, may naka-try na po ba sa inyo mag bus from macau to hk? we're planning to stay overnight kasi in macau tapos back to hk the next day for our flight to manila. i've read na nearer (and cheaper) daw yung hk airport if via bus kami instead na mag ferry. is this true? convenient naman po ba yung travel? dalawa lang kasi kami ng daughter ko and i'm looking for the best option na di magiging sobrang hassle. i'm thinking of taking an uber papuntang airport pag baba namin sa bus terminal sa hk. also, any recommendations on an affordable but okay na place to stay in macau? i'm currently looking at the countdown, holiday inn cotai, and sheraton sands. any recos as well on where we could have dinner na not so pricey but nice resto/buffet restaurant? my daughter's celebrating her 10th birthday kasi (thus the trip) and i wanted her to have a nice birthday dinner sana. tia!

^Hi sis, here's a post I shared about Macau-HK; we rode the bus going back to HK.

Just got back from HK-Macau last February 16-19.

Sulit din for us yung LTE Data Only sim card. We bought it when we arrived in Macau (sa terminal), mga 2-3 stalls sila magkakatabi na nakaharap sa'yo when you walk out. I think it was maybe around P800 for the 4 days. Ok naman ang service. Make sure that you get the one na pwede hanggang HK if you're planning to take it there. Nauna kase sa itinerary namen ang Macau so we made sure na it's still usable in HK (and it was).

We were able to try yung new bridge, yung HZMB or Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macau Bridge, on our way back to HK. From HK to Macau, we took the TurboJet ferry (about HKD 186/head weekend kase kame). Going back to HK, we tried the bus kase na-kwento ng isang PInoy in our Macau hotel na it's faster (around 30-40 mins only) and cheaper (HKD 58 for day trip and HKD 63 for night).

The difference lang is yung ferry, when you arrive in HK, there's already an MTR station below it (Sheung Wan). If you take the bus, it will arrive in HKIA domestic terminal which has no access to MTRs but there are buses outside. I think almost all bus lines are available there. Definitely, there are buses to Central, Mongkok, TST, etc ito kase sinakyan namin. I think around HKD 21 per person, HKD 79 total per person as compared to the ferry.

In Macau, hindi na kame kumuha ng tour, "manual" lang lahat hehe. We did not stay in Cotai (where all the famous casinos are); our hotel was 5 minutes from Lotus Square. Sobrang sulit na the hotel has a free shuttle to and from the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal. Then from this terminal, madami nang buses to the famous hotels na free! So we just had to take the free shuttle from the hotel to the terminal, then lipat na kame ng bus going to Venetian, City of Dreams, etc. From Senado Square, meron din free buses sa may Grand Emperor hotel; this was the first bus we took going to the famous casinos kase nag Ruins muna kame.

From the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, meron na din free shuttle to take you to to the HZMB terminal just in case you decide to take the bus going back to HK.

^thanks sis! malamang nga we'll take the bus na lang from Macau, less hassle pa kesa mag-ferry kami tapos we'll need to take a bus pa ulit or MTR to the airport. medyo malaki din pala ang difference cost wise ng ferry ang bus.

Yup, big difference din. Depends nalang anong plans niyo pagbalik ng HK. Kase if you take the bus from Macau, yun nga, walang MTR access. Mag bus ka muna. Pag ferry kase pag balik mo ng HK, may MTR station na dun mismo.

^we'll likely head straight to the airport na from macau. mag ikot kami sa macau in the morning then leave around 4 pm. our flight back to manila is 8:35pm pa naman.

I think almost everyday naman ang protest nila. We almost didnt make it feepw days ago coz cancelled our flights. We waited and from 1 pm flight and nakakuha kame ng flight back to Manila mga around 10 pm na flight. Stay safe. Avoid wearing black or anything close to its color na lang to be safe.

Mukhang matagal pa sya.  Andun kami ng July 31 to August 2, me bagyo kaya wala silang protests.  Pero me pinuntahan kaming isang mall sa Tsuen Wan, may isang part ng walkway na puno ng sticky notes na puro support on the protest.  Before kami pumunta sa HK, sinabihan ako ng friend kong purser sa Cathay na wag ako magsusuot ng white (for the triad) and black (for the protesters).

^not really optimistic that it will end anytime soon, but sana ma-control and hindi na lumala. the police are getting too aggressive and violent na (or so it seems) when handling the protesters. from what i've read, usually weekends ang kasagsagan ng gulo and no particulat area at kung saan saan sumusulpot ang protesters ngayon. avoid wearing black and white din daw at usually yun ang colors na suot ng protesters.

Dumating kami HK around 9AM ng August 12. Okay naman sa airport, may protesters pero nakaupo lang sila and wala pa silang 20, I think. Nung bandang gabi na, nagulat nalang kami sabi sa news nagkagulo raw sa airport. Napuntahan naman namin lahat ng nasa itinerary namin except nan lian and space museum. Ang goal lang namin everyday is wag magpapagabi. Pero nung 3rd and 4th night sinulit namin sa TST, laging past 11pm na kami nakakauwi. Swerte kasi nung paalis na kami ng August 16 naghigpit na sa airport, bawal na pumasok yung mga walang flight. Thank God, naging smooth naman byahe naman overall.

Sabi sa mga nababasa ko sa fb, matagal tagal pa raw matatapos mga kaganapan sa HK. Pero malay natin diba. Hopefully, maging ok na soon. *pray*

^thanks for the update sis! mukhang matatagalan pa nga ang protests. meyo nag-aalinlangan na rin ako if tutuloy kami sa october, medyo mahaba pa naman yung time to decide. wait and see muna ang peg ko.

our flight was moved to an earlier timeslot pala. not really sure how i feel about this kasi ok naman sa akin yung original flight at early morning pa rin ang dating. with the new flight, super early morning ang dating namin. baka instead of heading straight to ngong ping mag check in na lang muna kami tapos mag MTR na lang to tung chung station.
