Marriage License Application Process

Hi All,

I've opened a new thread as the other threads related to this topic has not been active for 60 days.

I have a question about applying for the Marriage License.

I understand that we have to file this in person at least 120 days before the actual wedding day.  What I would like to ask is when does the 120 begin?  After you claim it from City Hall or during the day you applied for it?
Also can we be present during the application but have a representative claim the documents after the 10 day period?  We are both based overseas and don't have much leaves.

Hope someone can enlighten me.

Same question, since babalikan pa yung license a few days after the application.. Can we send a representative instead?

Yes pwede just present authorization letters with Valid ID. better yet, ask the Local Civil Registry where you will be claiming your License.

I think validity will start on the day they'll release your license.

Marriage License is valid from date of approval. Usually it is two (2) weeks from the date you submitted all requirements, including payment of the fee. Approval date may be different from the date the license is claimed.

To guide the couple, the validity period is also indicated in the marriage license.

Yes, the marriage license can be picked up by a representative. Prepare a written authorization from both parties to be safe.

I went to our Local Civil Registrar - eto mga hininging list of requirement:
-2x2 Picture
-PSA Copy of Birth Certificate
-Barangay Certificate
-Pre-Marital Counseling
-CENOMAR

^hindi ko natanong sis, pero magkaiba din yata yung sa city hall and sa church

As far as I know, iba ang sa church and sa city hall. Dito sa amin sa province, dalawang government agencies ang nag-conduct ng seminar - DSWD and Commission on Population. Pero same day lang naganap.

Depends sa LCR where you apply.

Some LCR's (i.e. Pasig City) allow the Pre-Cana Certificate to be the counselling certificate, for purposes of applying for a Marriage License. (Note: Makati City LCR does not allow). Better to ask the LCR of choice of their policies.
