Hot topic din ito in my group chats! Lahat nag-speculate lang naman and wala naman tama or mali but it seems the documentary is effective in swaying the public opinion on Paco.. kasi diba his family was funding this documentary (if true) so that could have been the angle/intent of the documentary all along.

The documentary is effective in making the viewer question the verdict and the justice system. Galing lang.

i have so many questions about this case. All i can sympathize with is the parents -- no parent will "bury the truth" -- they want the truth for their own peace of mind. So kung hindi nga si Paco, then both sides are actually LOSING the case. Kung may cover-up/framing man it could be another external party altogether. Baka nga si Vic Sotto and Richie D'Horsie pala yun... tinakpan lang ang case at ipinako kay Paco for their freedom!! (one classmate of mine made this comment to lighten up the debate mood)

Regardless -- the documentary is well made hence the contention among viewers! It made everyone think. The only question is, was the angle of the documentary independent or was it indeed funded by Paco's camp (thus biased).

Ang nakuha lang niya kay Marian yung dimples, pero daig ni Zia si Marian sa PR. Hindi ko pa nakitang wala sa mood or nag tantrums ang batang ito.  Super masayahin at hindi takot sa mga tao. Swerte nang mga napanood siya sa "mini concert" wherein nag sing and dance siya ng 14 songs. Bulilit pa lang pero performer na. Pero compared sa ibang celebrity parents, ang damot ng dongyan to share Zia pics and vids, pag may special occasions lang. Tagal nang walang posts. Buti na lang may mga fans na nag se share.

Sis, I have read the case many times. Walang namention na attendance o exam na nipresent as evidence. Puro witnesses lang na inconsistent pa.

Hindi na marere-open ang case na ito. Final na. Decided na. Fault din naman ni Paco at ng mga lawyers nila bakit siya naconvict. Hindi pinaghandaan ng maayos. Marami remedies na pinabayaan.

By the way, meron sis na nagpost dito na willing daw bigyan ng country natin si Paco ng parole. I would like to inform you na wrong info po yun. Iyong government ng Spain ang nag offer bigyan ng parole si Paco basta aminin nya kasalanan niya. Ayaw niya aminin.

I just finished watching Give Up Tomorrow. Speechless ako. Especially the interview of Mrs. Chiong towards the end of the film. Parang may sapak na.

Yung sa exams, I think it was a practical test kaya walang paper. If I remembered it right, the professor described yung position nila Paco sa class during the exams na by pair and magkakaharap so sabe nya kung uneven yung number of students, mapapansin kase may isang walang magiging partner. Yung sa condo naman, it was the security guard's testimony na nakita nya and nai-log sa Paco sa condo nya.

This case would've been easier kung may CCTVs na during that time hehe.

Yung question ko din about Rusia still stands, why wasn't he able to say what happened to Jacqueline if he really was there? Yung initial lawyers ng suspects resigned I think because of too much pressure from the Cebuano public as well as the media coverage. And feeling daw nila, talagang hinde naman bibigyan ng chance yung suspects so they quit. I tried to read the SC ruling but it was so long

^^ Sis, kalokohan ang logbook sa condo na iyan.

Sabi ng SC di kapani-paniwala ang logbook. Based sa entry ni Paco, nag log in siya ng 10:15 pm pero yung entry nya nakasulat sa taas ng name ng  isang tao na nag log in ng 10:05 pm. After that 10:05 pm na entry, 10:25 pm na ang sumunod. Halata tuloy na siningit lang ni Paco ang name nya para kunwari nag log in siya. Kaya di reliable ang logbook. Saka kahit sino may kakayahang gumawa nyan.

Iyong exams naman. Fine. Assume natin na practical test. Walang test paper. Pero I am sure may record or document somewhere sa school that would prove na may practical test tulad ng attendance sheet o record ng prof ng score nya. Pero during trial, di naman napresent as evidence.

Mga sis, for the nth time, read the SC case please. Entitled kayo sa opinion nyo. I recognize that. Pero ensure nyo din na informed opinion yan at may tamang basis. No offense meant though.

Try reading the SC case and watch give up tomorrow. Kung kay Paco pa rin simpatya nyo, by all means, go ahead. At least aware na kayo sa findings ng court. Hindi yung sa give up tomorrow lang na obvious na biased.

^Hi sis. My hubby is a lawyer din. When i brought up this topic, he said SC will not rule naman without basis. So I agree na the defense of Paco was weak kaya naconvict siya. Anyway, mahirap din kasi pag based lang sa documentary ang opinion natin especially if it is produced by either party's side. Madaling nakakasway ng public opinion. Let's be logical na lang and not be drawn by emotions.  I agree na dapat, basahin yung ruling para maintindihan yung series of events. Ang hirap magsalita and magbigay ng opinion pag hindi naman natingnan lahat ng anggulo.

Ang sakin lang naman. The Spanish government, the EU, the United Nations have all reviewed the case and based din sa findings nila, walang enough evidence to convict. I have to admit, biased ang opinion ko kasi fresh pa from watching the movie.

Btw, what happened to David Rusia and where is he now? And what drove the judge to commit suicide? Di ko kasi masyado naintindihan sa film yung reason why siya nagpakamatay.

Napanood ko din ang Give Up Tomorrow, and I am one of the few na feeling eh hindi naman talaga inosente yung Paco. IMO.

Mayaman ang pamilya ni Paco, kung gugustuhin nila, pwede siyang kumuha ng magaling na lawyer para ma idepensa siya ng mabuti.

Eh pero mukhang ang problema eh mahirap kasi siya idepensa talaga at hanapan ng matibay na ebidensiya na inosente siya.

Tungkol naman sa pagiging weird ni Mrs. Chiong.. I completely understand.. ikaw ba naman mawalan ng dalawang anak, sabay pa, tapos gruesome death..

Kanya kanya naman talaga ang tao kung paano mag cope up sa isang tragedy. Walang standard ng coping up...Kanya kanya yan.

Kung mabait man siya kay Rusia, maybe... feeling ni Mrs. Chiong eh si Rusia ang tanging hope nila para makamit ang hustisya para sa mga anak niya.  Desperate move of a desperate person.

Hindi ko ma feel na inosente yung Paco eh.. parang may something off sa mga pananalita niya.

Actually I have so many questions after watching this documentary and I also see so many red flags.. for one it's obviously biased/skewed toward Paco's family (they funded it, so I heard) and we WERE NOT SHOWN any of the evidences or testimonies presented during the case hearing/trial so i can't comment on those.. purely speculative (emotionally charged) yung documentary. The documentary did not even present the SC ruling. The supposed UN ruling was quite a shocker to me. I was actually surprised the UN meddled on the sovereignty of a country -- and the UN is not immune to political influence itself. The EU and Spain are definitely more influential in the political spectrum of the UN than the Philippines so it was rather easy to do this. Let's say that's the US, like the trial of OJ Simpson -- would the UN meddle? Doubt it. Also their ruling did not claim Paco is innocent. It just claimed there were flaws in the judicial process -- an easy call to make to appease a country/union putting pressure on the UN's agency

Can anyone chime in about the context of CCA (Paco's school)? My kuya told me that CCA, at the time, was a tertiary (college) school for patapon kids who didn't know what to do with their lives and/or were not accepted to top schools or were kicked out from their universities due to failing grades. No offense to anyone (in case may CCA grad dito or the reputation has since changed) but just sharing what my brother said. He said that picture of Paco with friends at a bar was actually taken at Gills and Fins, a resto-bar in Katipunan Ave., QC at the time where patapon kids would loiter and cut classes... yet were still 'passing' in school.. so yeah my brother thinks the testimony of the school and of the students could not be entered to court because they were not credible at all. Even the condo log book -- all the condos in Katipunan at the time used this lazy write your name log book system which is also not credible and easily tampered. So can not be accepted in court. The school had a rep na everyone "passes" miraculously even if students did not put in the effort (like did not attend classes). Again no offense here but AT THE TIME, that was the rep of the school.

Nagtataka naman ako bakit unfazed/indifferent si Paco the whole time from early in the documentary to present day. Even when the verdict was read, he didn't flinch. It could mean NOTHING. Though i also always wonder how come, if their camp was hell bent they were innocent, they did not seek out other criminals? I would have used a PI or find other leads to point to the real suspects if i were innocent. All they ever said was "i'm innocent" but never really argued WHY they were innocent or WHY they did not have any motive? just saying "it wasn't me"

If this was a frame-up? Who and why? If it were a frame-up, it is also SOOOOO easy to pin this on a random gorup of guys/criminals/thugs in Cebu -- not to a guy who is from a privileged family himself (Paco). Makes no sense to me. Kung talagang frame-up lang, sa iba na lang na easier target to be framed.

Rusia - seems like the mom had tried to make peace with herself and the situation and heal herself through forgiveness. Rusia was, in her eyes, "repentant" so she was choosing to forgive as that helps her heal. To me it doesn't mean the Chiong family colluded with Rusia to pin down Paco. we never were presented any motive as to why pin this to Paco and camp, if they claim they are hiding the Chiong sisters as alive somewhere (parang conspiracy theory naman yan)

But then - the SC verdict is final and the case is final so I don't even see the point of this documentary as to why his family sponsored it -- it does not change Paco's fate. However, it does clear the name of his family in a way so if that was their motive behind funding the documentary then it seems to be working since it really lead to a lot of divisive opinions/perception.

We will never really know but i think that from the circumstances and from what we know mas inclined ako to believe the likelihood na guilty sya than not. And yes he is privileged, serving his sentence in Spain where he works in the morning at the popular eateries of San Sebastian is a freaking privilege! San Sebastian is one of my favorite towns to visit and would love to live there... ang mahal ng hotels/accommodations in that town in the summer months because it is so pretty and has the highest concentration of michelin-reviewed restaurants. if you ask me, he's very lucky... while the other guys who were convicted are rotting in prison in manila.
