I think okay lang naman kung may nagooffer ng free service pero ang cheap tignan kapag nanghihingi ka mismo lalo na kung celebrity ka tapos hihingan mo walang trabaho. Ang laki ng sweldo mo. Para kang namamalimos sa isang namamalimos lang din ang ginagawa. parang di mo rin binibigyan ng value yung career kaya medyo insulting siya. And issue na yan sa design/art field kaya sensitive na topic, maraming taong ganyan na akala nila walang effort ng trabaho ng mga nasa field na yan, tapos gagawin pa ng isang celebrity, lalo lang naiimprint sa mind ng iba na okay lang na free ang service sa art.

Besides, he said graphic designer so that means he's targeting a profession, sana sinabi lang niya fans. If it was offered to you, okay, pero pag hindi, ang cheap ng dating ng mga taong ganyan. The who pa siya at sino ba ang mga nagfafollow sa kanya, mga teens lang din naman so anong mapapala sa shoutout niya ng mga professional na naghahanap ng work.

Just my two cents as a graphic artist: Medyo nakakatrigger lang ang wording ng request because it felt like he is asking from people who do this for a living in exchange for a simple  shoutout, and that doesn't really put food on the table. And siguro you'd have to be in our shoes din to feel slightly offended about it kasi it's common in our field to have clients that have this perception of our work being "easy", like we just sit around and tinker with the computer and poof! done na in a few minutes because we let the softwares do the work for us anyway, like we just did a desktop version of snapseed or camera360. Parang ganun.

I mean if you're a model, you won't like it if people perceive your profession as merely looking pretty.

I get it that people might've overreacted a bit, and the apology was a not really an apology (sorry I offended you but, really, who doesn't want some exposure, amairite?), pero yes, medyo insensitive or poorly-worded lang talaga ang request.

Should have been something like "hey guys, anyone with some photoshop skills want to take a crack at helping me with this photo for___? Would be really grateful!  All the best works I'd love to feature here in my IG with my thanks!" or something.

Pero it's not really that big of an issue. Hope the kid learned something.

Nag-react si Rico Blanco sa issue na yan, dapat daw magbayad lahat ng nagdownload ng music, movies, software etc. In a way may point naman siya, pero bakit readily available ang music sa spotify( di ko alam kung anong deal nito with artists, may cut ba sila sa spotify ads? ) Although madali lang iblock mga ads doon.

Regarding movies pag gusto ko ang palabas at good quality kahit mahal pa ang ticket at may extra charge pa ang advance selling go lang.

Ito ang stand ko diyan sa mga pirated movies and music. If piracy did not exist, they will not lose a lot of money anyway. Why? Kasi yung mga tumatangkilik ng pirated movies usually walang pera yan or kung may pera man, not willing to watch on the big screen or buy the video version. If there is no piracy e di hindi na lang sila manonood ng pelikula mo, and hindi ka rin kikita dahil doon. Yes there is some loss, but they can't claim that its a lot of loss income. 

Same goes with music. Sa isang album bihira lang naman na lahat ng kanta doon maganda. Usually yung single lang ang maganda the rest is MEH na. Kaya nga may $0.99 na price for one song lang ang Apple.

For games, the piracy issue has already been solved.

Honestly, it?s a pity that a lot of Pinoys still don?t get the rationale behind the issue. It?s not as simple as OA mag react or exaggerated mga taong na-offend. Our culture has long thrived on the concept of makiusap and makisuyo kaya there are still a lot of things na feeling ng iba eh makakalusot sa simpleng pa-thank you or in his case, pa-shout out. I guess we should also respect if they got offended the same way that you?ll be respected for your opinion na ka-OAyan lang ang bagay na yan. There?s no such thing as free lunch. Kung dun sa fan na gumawa eh okay lang, it doesnt mean na walang K mag react yung ibang na offend. Nasa sa kanya na yon kung gusto nyang mag charity work buong buhay nya. For people whose bread and butter relies on this, obviously, nakaka insult naman na shout out lang pala nae-equate ang work nila. I?m not even surprised that a lot of people were okay with it being that we?re still big on piracy and plagiarism.

^Respect is the key word. Mejo madame ka nang sinabe na affected ma affected ka. If you are, go lang. For me, I understand the outrage, ikaw OA for you. Ikaw willing magbigay ng free service, hinde lahat ganyan. Sayo OA, sa iba hinde, reasonable. Anong issue natin? Relax. Take a deep breath. Have some tea.

May nagmention nga sa akin na student pa lang yung gumawa. So, malamang nga it was just a fan submitting a banner and not someone hoping to get an x-deal or more exposure to generate more clients. So big deal na nga siguro sa kanya itong shoutout ni jameson, at kaya rin siguro hindi din sya masyado affected sa issue na gusto ipaglaban ng professional graphic designers.

Pero sa akin lang ha, I agree the wording of the request could've been better. Plus he's gonna use this for his website di ba, so I feel it should've been more of a legit business deal rather than some pa-contest sa followers nya, kasi wala naman pa lang masyadong use yung shoutout nya dun sa girl IMO (kasi hindi naman pala nya ito trabaho talaga and I can't imagine anything else to do with a shoutout...maybe dadami yung twitter followers ng girl? LOL), while he got a professional-looking banner for free to use to further advertise himself and his site. But yeah, at the end of the day, choice naman ni fan na gawin yun.

Pero tinignan ko yung mga joke submissions and their corresponding witty captions, ang kukulit, love it, haha.

Do not know this Jameson guy but I saw his supposed post on my FB newsfeed, screen capped by some media professional friends in the Philippines.

I think the main issue is how he had the gall to post such a request -- it's just very tacky and lacking in good taste -- basically he thinks he's so important that his shout out is more valuable than a graphic artist's work. Parang ego-trip kasi ang dating.

A-listers don't even need to "request" for services, companies go to them an give them free products, for promotion. What this guy could have done was post that he needs such services and is hoping to get recommendations or possible partnerships -- then let the businesses come to him. Palagi namang merong willing to do that for "free" or as an X-deal... but yun nga, the way he wrote it gave a public perception of an inflated ego that belittled a profession... again that's the PERCEPTION and unfortunately, the reality is sometimes PERCEPTION is more important than TRUTH.

Think of social media influencers,  vloggers, etc.. daming stories where they go to a restaurant and they say "hey i'm an influencer, you should give this to me for free, otherwise i'll give you a bad review on my soc media accounts and in YELP" -- it leaves a bad taste in the mouth -- businesses have a limit/budget allocated for "marketing" so hindi naman pwede lahat ng lumapit, parang blackmail ang dating... there's an infamous story of a girl (vlogger) who wrote to a hotel asking them to give her a 3 night stay for free in a luxe suite -- the hotel responded no way.. most people sided with the hotel kasi parang feeling entitled naman yung girl. Honestly a lot of these businesses are willing to approach someone with a hefty following and offer them a deal ... but best to wait to be approached, not announce it and feel it's your entitlement to be approached.

So yes, even if it does happen (free services) and it's anyone's choice to offer free services or not, the public perception of what this guy Jameson did, is just off, because of the way he asked for it. it also lacks integrity -- basically he will just "endorse" anyone who gives him free work, not because they are legitimately good.

Mukhang nakababad kasi sa SocMed. Pansinin niyo lang, lahat ng Instagram ng mga artista, lagi siyang may likes/comments. Sa Twitter din, lahat ng issues may opinion siya.
