Sound Barrier

Hello! Does anyone know how to create an effective sound barrier against neighbors slamming doors, drinking parties sa labas, etc?  Kahit kasi naka-close yung bedroom windows, rinig pa din. I'm thinking of boarding up the entire balcony window with wood, would that work kaya? Or does anyone know saan pwede bumili nung material talaga for noise reduction like a tarp or special wood dito sa atin?

Sound proofing ang kelangan mo. Medyo may kamahalan yun. Bakit di mo ireklamo sa HOA yung kapitbahay mo?

Alam ko kasi nireklamo na sila nung isa pang kapitbahay and tumahimik naman daw for a time, pero ito na uli. I'm thinking if may magagawa ako on my part. Oo nga, parang mahal and complicated yung mga nababasa kong soundproofing methods. I don't need it to be totally quiet naman, kahit ma-muffle lang kahit papaano.

sound proofing is expensive.  studios use the room in a room design for complete sound proofing.  the sound generated inside can not go out and at the same time the sound outside can not go in.  then you'll have to worry about ventilation and air conditioning.  building a sound proof room entails science. it involves sound absorbing material and sound reflecting material.

one cheap solution that musicians use is to sit in a tiny booth and the booth is surrounded with heavy curtains draped around it.  but this just lessens the noise.

a more dedicated sound booth will cost more but it will not eliminate the noise.

Sis, kung ikaw lang ang may problem with the noise and budget is not a concern, get the bose noise canceling headphones.  its the best NC headphone out there and malaking bawas ang noise sa labas.  may kamahalan but you get the best noise reduction. you may want to test one at a bose store.

Are you living in a condo ba?

Kasi kung condo medyo challenging nga tapos may balcony ka pa.. dun kasi sa bintana mo dumadaan ang noise eh.

Kung town house naman ganun din. Sa windows dadaan ang noise.

^pwedr yung suggestion mo na curtains. Yung makakapal na curtain. Para maharang yung ingay.

Common ang ganyang problem sa mataong lugar.dito sa apartment namin at sa dati kong townhouse na finoreclose ko maingay din. Pero ang ginagawa ko as countermeasure ay nag-iingay din ako dito sa loob ng house like patugtog din ng malakas na music or pag manuod ng tv na malakas ang volume plus nakasara ang windows. Worse case, aalis kami , punta mall or uuwi sa antipolo pag may party sa kapitbahay at nagkakantahan.
WORST case, sinisigawan ko talaga na huminto na sa pagkanta dahil 10pm na at may pasok mga bata bukas. lalo na pag ang kumakanta ay lasing na ang boses ay tunog-pinupukpok na dram. Masakit sa tenga. Ganun ako kasiga hehe. 😝

Mga sis and bros, thank you for the suggestions. I will try all of them out. Yes, condo ito and medyo ilang months ko na rin tinitiis, willing ako na nga akong wala nang balcony para lang tahimik naman, kahit na wala nang view and problema yung ventilation (though we're thinking of a way to fix this if ever matuloy nga isara). Right now, I have yung heavy curtains pero I think I need more. Ewan ko nga bakit hindi macontrol yun ng admin.  Matitiis ko pa yung ingay during the day, pero grabe yung past midnight at minsan early morning pa. We're actually thinking of buying this unit kasi for sale sya pero now that I know na ganito pala, syempre move out na lang kami by next year, so I need kahit a temporary solution lang. Namamahalan kasi ako if I need to have something more complicated to be constructed pa...pero kung wala nang ibang choice, baka pati yun patulan ko na rin or baka nga umabot na sa confrontation! Hoping this issue can be fixed ASAP.

Ok, just wanted to update. Bawal daw pala magconstruct ng any kind of harang sa balcony kasi may uniform look daw silang gusto ma-achieve. So...might be moving out in the next month or two, sakto kasi may iba din gusto daw bumili. Hoping I find a quiet place next time!

Haha, thanks, sana nga maka-jackpot na ako ng maayos na kapitbahay para wala nang ganitong pinoproblema ko pa masyado yung sound proofing. Kung may pera nga lang sana ako para makatira na lang sa isang private island! LOL

Sosyal naman private island. Okay na siguro sa exclusive subdivision. Hahaha

Believe me its  no fun either to live in a private island.  Pero kung for a vacation ay that is a different story.

The best I could find in answer to this was some DIY guides using towels.  Yun white noise option I am not even sure if that is available sa atin.  For me mas better na nga na lumipat na lang and find a better place.

May nakita kasi ako dati na huge house on a small island (even before I began to have these issues with neighbors) and parang type ko yung ganung setup, yung para bang wealthy recluse ang dating, hahaha. Just get away from it all!

True, sir CH, no choice but to move out na lang talaga. Fortunately parang nage-effort na naman somehow yung neighbors na tumahimik, plus I feel na kukunin na rin ito nung buyer soon. Will just focus on my next move.
