Faking your Resume. (Fake it till you make it)

Meron ba sainyong mga HR or Recruitment jan before? Ask lang sana gano kalaki ang Chance na ndi ka mahuli kapag pinalitan mo ang mga Company na pinanggalingan mo sa Resume. Ndi naman lahat pero around 30 %.

Kasi I want to apply sa ibang company as an Implementation Consultant ng isang IT software. Im currently a consultant pero sa Payroll ako. But I'm a Technical Support dati sa IT Software na gusto ko pasukan.

Now eto kasi un, I have a friend na katrabaho ko dati sa first company na pinasukan ko at Consultant na sya ngaun sa iisang company in taguig. He's now earning 195k sa isang Partner ng IT software company na un that sells their product. I was amazed kung pano nya nagawa un. Wala naman kasing patas sa mundong ito. Ang pag angat mo ay dipende sa diskarte mo or yung iba matalino at masipag. So ayun nga pinalitan nya yung ibang part ng Resume nya at Ginawa nyang Consultant ang kanyang job title sa Resume. And syempre nakalusot sya. Ndi lang sa isang Company kundi 5 Company na mababagsik. Kasama dun ang SGV and Accenture. from 13k to 195k in 3 years. Call Center hopper rin sya at gusto nya na umalis sa Call Center kaya hinanapan nya ng paraan. Kinausap nya ako at sinabi nya sakin na makakalusot ako bsta kaya mo dalhin ang sarili mo. In terms of work kung tatanungin nyo ako I can handle the work. And Im very confident na kaya kong gawin ang tabaho na ipapagawa. Kasi Support ako dati ng System na un. Pag ndi na kaya ng mga specialist at Consultant samin sila tumatawag para ipaayos at mag tanung ng answer. Kailngan ko lang palitan ang ibang info sa Resume ko kasi usually pag Consultant taas masyado ng requirements. Kailangan graduate ka at 5 years kang consultant nung software na un.

So ang concern ko lang ngaun is saan ako pwde mahuli pag inedit ko yung ibang info sa resume ko like the companies na pinanggalingan ko. Except sa technical interview kasi Im very confident na kaya ko sagutin lahat ng itatanung sakin sa Technical interview kasi trained ako sa software na un.

I was a recruitment officer before and yes in our company we do background check only for important/executive positions. We also employ a third party background checker for post related to banking and finance. There are some positions however, we do not and will only call those people you listed down as references- meaning you can ask even your friends to pose as your manager in a given company. Now, I do not recommend this because this is like forgery. Maliit lang ang mundo, maraming cases na rin na si ganito ay kilala ni ganito or eksaktong yung sinulat niyang company eh dun nagwowork yung isang hiring manager. It is certainly a risk and you may lose your credibility if you get found out. Blacklisted ka na kaagad pag ganun.

I think everybody "fluffs" their resume specially if you have been working for a long time and you would like to impress  your potential employer. Sometimes the job description is changed or term of employment is prolonged to avoid looking like a hopper.  But of course the important details  should be there specially the company name kase lalabas yun sa Tax contribution mo eventually.

Your friend I would think is the exception to the rule. The rule being is to be clear and honest with your background (although some exaggerations are ok  IMO) . There might be a chance you will both draw more attention to each other and attract unwanted questions or ex-colleagues.

I think your friend was lucky and madiskarte nga which you can only be happy para sakanya. If you are really considering it give your friend a few months or a year even. See if wala ngang makakapansin sakanya then perhaps you can try as well baka maluwag talaga ang background check nila as long as you can deliver. But siyempre weight the risks

Mahirap mag fake ng resume. Especially if you are after very high paying jobs.

Try to put yourself sa shoes ng manager who wants to find the right person for the job. If you tell you can do the job - the manager will expect that you can really expect you to be great at it without much supervision and training. Kasi you know already that job at di ka na dapat tuturuan.

There is a better way of writing a resume, such as highlighting your recent experience, achievements and skills over your educational background and try to draft your cover letter and explain in interviews how your experience and skills match to their job opening.

To claim that you are what you are not is a no-no. Eventually your depth of knowledge, skill and experience will show up during probationary period and performance reviews. Huge companies do background checks.

Your friend's skill and experience may be different from yours that is why he may be able to transition well to a position. Even if you were able to fake to make it, you may encounter difficulties and much pressure especially at the beginning because you really do not have an exact same job experience to begin with. This might be something that your friend might not choose to tell you (and probably faking his difficulty with the job by telling you that it is easy to transition).

Ang nagawa ko lang pag fake sa resume ko so far ay mga dates worked. Example, sasabihin ko I worked for this company from X date to Y date, but I will say I left at Z date. Usually Z is greater than Y. Nangyari kasi minsan na lumipat ako ng company pero hindi ako nagtagal kaya nagpad na lang ako ng date ng previous work, mga 1-2 months lang naman para walang gaps. Ang HR kasi maraming tanong pag nakakita ng gap sa CV kahit pa matagal ka na nagwowork.

Maliit ang chance ko na  mahuli kasi yung mga company na nag pad ako ng date I make sure na nagsara na(kokonti lang sila, mga 10% lang) so wala na rin makokontak na taga doon na may solid records pa, at hindi recent company.  So if you want to lie mas maganda yung mahihirapan sila i-verify yung truthfulness behind it.

I would be cautious in taking a job that pays that much though. Mataas din ang expectations diyan at matindi ang pressure. Mahirap naman yung saglit ka lang tapos matatanggal ka kasi you don't meet expectations.
