What's the most painful lesson you learned in 2017?

The year is coming to a close. We'd like to know: What's the most painful lesson you learned in 2017?

Bullying in the workplace is real. You can be back stabbed by people you offered genuine friendship. You can be subject of nasty rumors. You can be isolated and treated like an outcast. 
Character assassination can build stress and anxiety attacks.
But with these realizations, I have come to know myself more and how to deal with grace and strength of character without quitting my job that puts food on the table.

This year, I learned that the people I thought will be there for me are the ones who aren't. That includes my mother. And my two best friends. This was magnified when I went through an important phase in my life--pregnancy. You really cannot expect much from people, even if you deem them important in your life. I learned to deal with it. It was a struggle, but it is fulfilling to finally be able to enjoy my own company.

You only have "YOU" in this journey called life. I just learned this a few months ago when me and my sister had a fall out. Now, it's just me and my adopted kid. Though I still support her children once in a while. In love, you should always guard your heart. And never assume that the other party is into you. And most importantly, have self respect.

Always, ALWAYS trust your instinct. even though it seems that everything is okay but your instinct tells you otherwise, listen to it. But also know the difference between your instincts and just being paranoid.

when it rains, it pours.  this is true with blessings and even trials, you just need to pray for guidance.

...na mahirap ang magbuntis! painful kasi....the morning sickness, to weird cravings, and all the other discomforts and pain that I am experiencing now as I go through the last few weeks of pregnancy...and now the uncertainty of delivery.

1.) Save as much money as you can, as often as you can!

2.) Take care of your overall health (mental and physical) or else it will haunt you after.

That being an OFW is truly challenging and being miles away from home will make you appreciate more your family and friends back in your beloved country.

^Yes, suffered from depression for almost 3 years when I left Pinas to work abroad, too. Kakaibang lakas ng loob, tibay ng sikmura at mental health kailangan sa abroad. Until now na 7 yrs nakong OFW, leaving Pinas kapag babalik na from vacation is still very hard and heart breaking. Nakakabaliw.

The most painful lesson I learned in 2017 is that parents aren't always right. And, I must change my life for the better even if it means going against their belief

I learned that Alzheimer's is not just a degenerative, physical disease. It robs the patient of memory and emotions. It takes away joy, dignity, and every little good thing you can think of. Alzheimer's changed my parents and made them very different from their old selves. I, too, am forever changed. There is nothing more painful than enduring this battle with my loved ones who are slowly being taken away by this disease.

Work harder and save money, i just wasted a whole year of spending on things that don't matter.

I learned that no matter what you do, some people would only look out for themselves.  The rules have changed, and you just have to go with the flow.

I learned that when a biz is losing money for a year, u should just close it. I regret listening to my sis, she wanted to fight, but at the end of 6th year (2017), I lost total of 10M

No, you don't. We are in control of our life, not others. If we just go with the flow, then it is game over for the person

Love yourself. Stay away from people who are bad for your mental health.
