Night terrors

Hello!

For almost a week now, My 7 yr old son always wakes up 2 hours after he falls asleep looking scared and crying. It takes a few seconds to a minute for us to wake him up. When he finally wakes up, he doesn't have any memories on why he is frantic and hysterical, so we assume he is experiencing night terrors. Me and my husband both work on night shift, so at night, my son sleeps at my Mom's house, and my mom is complaining of sleep deprivation due to this. I searched the net and it said that night terrors are not uncommon in kids his age and usually goes away in time. Are there any parents here who are having the same issue with their kids? What did you do? When did you seek pedia's help?

Thank you

Totally off ba ang light sa room nya when sleeping?
Maybe a night light will help, or leave the lights on when he sleeps. Kahit soft lang, still dark enough for him to sleep but bright enough para komportable sya. Para when he wakes up in the middle of the night he's not in total darkness.

LO when she just turn 2 had night terrors din, though mga less than a week lang naglast. Nung nagresearch ako about it, factors could be stress, sleep deprivation, or if there's major change in their environment. I realize na nangyari yun nung nagbakasyon yung kasama namin sa bahay. Medyo naiba yung routine namin. Things went back to normal naman agad, I guess nung nakapag-adjust na siya. Try to check for something that may be stressing him out. Else, you might need to check with your pedia na.

Do babies/toddlers get night terrors too? My lo just turned 1 when she had her first hysterical crying in the middle of her sleep. She kept crying pero parang half tulog pa din siya. I couldnt get her to calm down, not even the "boobies" or hele, nor her dad. Frantic crying talaga to the point na humihikbi na siya pero still parang half asleep pa din siya. I just kept praying over her until she eventually fell asleep after 5-10mins. I thought maybe she got really tired lang that day because we were out of town. But few weeks later, ganun ulit. That time sa bahay lang naman kami, so i don't think it was because she was too tired, too full or hungry, sudden change sa environment niya or the likes kasi we have a routine... and i think it happened 2 times pa ata ulit after nun. Im a little concerned about it, will it affect her emotional, mental health? Or common na ba yan at a very young age?
