I have anxiety disorder and I am generally a happy person. Wala naman akong reason para mag-imbento ng mental disease. It's hard to explain anxiety and depression to someone that doesn't suffer from it. Obviously, Joey de Leon is ignorant about the disease.

Saw a clip on FB about how Joey de Leon belittled and ridiculed depression. Maine Mendoza defended depression and said it wasn't a joke.

Hay, JDL, why do you continue to exist on TV when everything about you is offensive and distasteful and rude.

I'm so affected by this because I have experienced depression. And there are so many forms of depression, may mga tao na lageng naka smile, they always seem happy but you don't know they're going through it. And for this man to belittle and ridicule the condition is so low. I hope he gets sanctioned.

im not really a fan of maine pero i love the way she handled the situation. kitang kita mo sinong aral, may pinag-aralan. hindi ba't si michael v din naman may depression? even janno gibbs. so mga kakilala nila sa showbiz na may depression, gawa gawa lang din? jirits sya. i also experienced being depressed at hindi yun gawa gawa ko lang.  bat ko naman pipilitin sarili ko na maging malungkot. even if i tried to sleep, hindi ko magawa. kahit anong gawin kong hindi pag-isip sa problema ko noon, it always catch up on me. hindi yun joke, dahil kung meron mang pinakamahirap na kalabanin, yun ay ang sarili natin.

^I think Ryan made a very empathic attempt of saving face but I'm not convinced. It's letting bullies like JDL who make depression appear as a joke that brings more stigma and confusion about the condition. He had a chance to speak up for it and he chose to keep quiet to be on the safe side.

Alden posted something about his late mother who suffered from bipolar depression too. I know JDL won't learn from this experience anymore, hinde naman yan receptive sa feedback or criticisms eh.

The real depression un mga na diagnose na talaga ng doctor na may chemical imbalance sa brain etc. Nakakalungkot na marami pa rin katulad ni JDL ang ignorante pagdating sa depression. Hindi nag iisip so un mga doctor na para sa ganyan at un gamot nila fake lang lahat at gawa gawa lang pala. Kaya marami sa pinoy ang kahit depress hindi nagpapaconsult dahil sa mga katulad ni JDL na ignorante at mapanghusga. Sa mauunlad na bansa hindi nila tinatake na wala lang ang taong may depression.

JDL made public apology already. My guess is right, misinformed sya. He was thinking about depression as the same as stress.  It was his wife and kids who corrected him, and he could not sleep daw after that so he called up Maine and apologized.

He reached out and he apologized. It was a humble gesture mula sa isang JDL na alam natin may katigasan din minsan. Sana di na maulit....

Mukhang sincere yung apology ni Joey.  Kakanood ko lang.  And buti hindi nya sinabi yung usual na "I apologize IF may nasaktan ako..." Good that he owned up to his mistake na direchong sorry sa mga nasaktan at nagalit.  Pero di ko pa din gets yung sinabi ni Ryan after Joey's apology.  Feeling ko tama si twelvth_goddess that he was trying to save face.  Bilib ako kay Maine.  Mabuhay ka girl.

Sa Pilipinas hindi ganon ka clinical ang turing sa depression unlike sa US or ibang bansa me medications talaga ...tayo kasi self medication or lilipas din yang phase na yan. Halos lahat yata dumadaan sa buhay natin ang depression na minsan to the point na gusto nating mamatay. Yun sobrang lungkot na di ka na makatulog sa kakaisip. Pero dahil sa kahirapan di tayo nagpapacheck-up usually mga friends at family katuwang natin o kaya time will just make its wonder. Kadalasan tayo Lang talaga ang makakatulong sa sarili natin minsan di natin namamalayan na lumipas na pala. Dapat talaga magkaroon ng information campaign about it para di isipin na kaartehan lang siya because it's really not a joke.

Depression, onga agree ako dyan na parang dito sa atin, hindi natin yan masyadong sineseryoso. Bat nga kaya noh? Siguro kasi wala tayong time at pera para ma depress.. siguro more on focus ng karamihan satin is to put food on the table kaya mostly brushed aside ang sariling nararamdaman. just my own opinion hehe

The positive effect of JDL's poor opinion is that there is more awareness now re depression. There are still a lot of Pinoys who has the same opinion as JDL so this is good.

As for Ryan, naiintindihan ko siya, minsan masmahirap pa magsalita kung ikaw mismo ang nakaranas, it becomes overwhelming so you don't know how to react or what to say, especially if the words hurting you are coming out from the people you care about.

I still hope JDL will be sanctioned, hindi lang apology, unfair naman sa ibang dabarkads na nasususpend kapag nakakagawa ng mali. Hindi sapat na rason ang matagal na sila kaya okay lang.

^^Uh oh, disappointed na talaga ako kay JLC. Usually I don't care naman sa personal lives ng mga artista as long as they still know their responsibility sa work nila. Matagal na ako naniniwala sa mga bisyo ni JLC but this, to actually forget about other commitments? Tsk tsk, so long, JLC.
