For me, VUL and whole life insurance -- I bought these two (crazy, right?!) at the age of 22, nung newbie pa ako sa investing world. Regretted it cuz I could have used that money in managing stocks kesa pinapatubo yun sa VUL. Stocks + term life insurance for me is the way to go.

artificialstar talaga? Why so? Yan pa naman sana plano namin kumuha ng whole life insurance (with VUL) ng Husband ko and we just got married last April (both 31 yrs old), ng at least tagisa.

^ If hindi ka nag-momonitor sa market, go with term life insurance + MF nalang. I'm not that much of a fan sa VUL kase apart from the investment, medyo malaki talaga yung agent's commission and other fees kaya mahal sya, compared sa term life insurance lang. Sa first 2-5 years ata, around more than half ng binayaran mo pupunta sa commission  , when I could use that money to invest/trade stocks. Sayang yung oras and pera. I'm more of a BTID (Buy Term Invest the Difference) + separate healthcare plan kind of person.

But for my lifestyle, mas swak saken ang term life insurance since I'm trading stocks so na-ma-manage ko yung money ko on my own. I have high risk appetite kase and I found na I could do more kesa i-asa sa insurance company yung returns ng pera ko. Just my 2 cents

^THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH SIS artificialstar! Helpful ng insight mo, OFW kami ng Husband ko and recently we planned to get 4 whole life insurance (VUL) imagine haha, maghoard talaga? Narattle kami maginvest since kaka kasal lang and magpainsured at the same time. Aside sa pagkuha ng property as investment.

Glad to hear your feedback. Now we are looking into Mutual Fund and Stocks na din, ok pa din samin whole life insurance maski tagisa nalang kami siguro para medyo malaki face amount and makuha namin later on part if not all of the face amount aside sa account value.

Nagcheck din kami HMO na affordable since these insurance mostly for accidents and critical illnesses lang.

car, bought 2 years ago na pinasok namin sa Grabcar (na hanggang ngayon binabayaran pa rin namin).
wala namang issue kay Grabcar, ang issue is yung father in law ko kasi yung magda-drive sana nun (ayaw ng husband ko pahawak sa iba) - kaso si father in law ko bigla umayaw (5 months pa lang yung car nun).
so ayun, for personal use na lang ngayon yung car. pero if maibabalik ang nakaraan, di na kami kukuha nun ng husband ko (di naman namin priority magkaroon ng car for personal use)

^^^ sis Rory_Lorelie_Gilmore, you don't need 4 VULs...  just get enough coverage and invest nalang sa mutual fund if di nyo pa gamay yung stocks or if you have no time to monitor since OFWs kayo. You may check pifa.com.ph for the performance of our mutual funds here and look for those equity mutual funds, or maybe balanced fund, depending on your risk profile. As always sis, study muna before taking action. Di biro maghanap ng pera. As much as we want our money to grow, we also have to protect it by placing it in the right vehicle/s for our needs. A German car which we hardly use sa takot ma scratch especially in a crazy Manila traffic.

Hubby bought house and lot in Sta Rosa na hindi namin natirhan kasi when we move back sa Pinas we put up a business in Pacita, near my MIL house so in the end we rented an apartment near the business and my MIL since she's quite old already and ended up selling the house in Santa Rosa.

^issue din namin yang location, kaya whenever someone's asking kung san kami kukuha di talaga namin masagot, ang hirap basta mapasubo, di din naman ganon kadali magbenta ng property should the need arise.

True sis. Lesson learned sa amin mag asawa yan lalo na pag ofw. Wag magmadali bumili ng bahay. Better create passive income muna kasi hindi mo matatawag na investment ang bahay unless kumikita. Btw, we have the same name sis, I mean my real name is rory.

^Hi!  Got my GT name from Gilmore Girls hehe, not sure kung alam mo yun. OFW din kami btw. Kaya we are taking our time sa pagiisip and pamimili kung san kami magiinvest talaga, we lately realized na mas gusto namin kumuha ng lupa muna since wala pa naman titira and magpatayo nalang once we retire na or umuwe for good, naluluma lang din pag house and lot kinuha. Tutal tuwing magbabakasyon OFW we usually stay sa mga family natin to spend time with them. We also thought na mukang ok din kumuha lupa sa residential areas tapos patayuan paupahan, yung rent dun pwede ipangbayad sa loan na kukuhain for that investment, aside sa iba pang investment wheels na naiisip namin like mutual funds, stocks, vul etc. Kung negosyo naman mahirap kasi kung wala kami mismo sa Pinas. Sorry napahaba.

Yes I heard nga about that show. I thought finally may kapangalan na ako haha bihira kasi name ko lalo na sa Pinas Tama sis magandang business ang apartment. We tried mag negosyo before while abroad, it was not successful, mahirap talaga pag hindi tinutukan.

^yes Sis, good luck sa business venture nyo, by the way taga Laguna kami, noon sa San Pedro ngayon Binan, sa Metroville parents ko, pero taga Silang and QC talaga kami, temporary lang kami sa Laguna so nagagawi din kami sa Pacita.  We got married last April 2017 lang kaya nagstart palang sa family planning.
