Companies that allow experienced employees to have OJT

Hi. Do you guys know any company that will accept OJTs that are not school sanctioned? I'm already an experienced professional but I'm in the process of shifting / getting into the IT field.

I just have this idea - Since my problem now with finding work is they're all looking for professional experience in SQL, advanced MSExcel, Java, etc. I'm willing to work for a few months with no pay just to gain such experience. I have attended trainings already for such tools but they don't seem to be enough for those companies.

Do you think this is a good idea? TIA for your comments and suggestions.
