Here are the details of our HKG-MFM trip last October 21-25.
Day 1: Saturday, 10/219:25 AM: Arrival at HKG airport. It took us 1 hour before we were cleared at the immigration and retrieved our baggage. We got our Octopus Cards
thru Klook and claimed it at Arrival Area counter A13.
12 NN: Check-in at the Hotel. We stayed at Dorsett Tsuenn Wann (it's near the airport but far from Kowloon).
1PM-9PM: Our DIY city tour.
- We went to Sky100 HK Observation Deck and claimed our Klook tickets. The voucher included the entrance and snack.
- We booked our PeakTram Fast Track (one way) plus Madamme Tussauds via Klook. The meeting place is very near at Central Station. I recommend getting the one-way only to bypass the long lines since you have a lot of options going down the peak. We took the Bus going down. Very easy to board.
- We had our dinner at Lin Heung Tea House near Sheung Wan Station.
- We then proceed to Temple Night Street and tried a lot of street foods.
Day 2: Sunday, 10/22- We went to the Promenade/Waterfront for some photo-op. The Avenue of Stars is closed so we settled for the Garden of the Stars.
- We then proceed to Ocean Park in the afternoon. Ang daming Chinese mainlander! Disaster! Not that I'm being racist, but you know, they aren't the best travelers because they have problems communicating and following the "rules", like following the line.
Day 3: Monday, 10/23Whole day Disneyland! Make sure you know the showtimes and make a strategy on how you?ll be able to watch the parades and shows.
Day 4: Tuesday, 10/24Transfer to Macau via ferry. Ride took 1 hour before arriving to Macau Ferry Port.
Day tour. We went to A-Ma temple, Ruins of St. Paul, Macau Tower, Senado Square, Taipa Village, and lastly, The Venetian, where we took their free Airport Shuttle.
We exited thru Macau Airport.
WEATHER: Overall, the trip was tiring, but fun! Weather is nice, it didn't rain. The temperature is a little bit colder at night. I can last a day wearing my jacket.
FOOD: There are a lot of restaurants you can try. Some are cheap, but some are expensive. I noticed that service in restaurants was very fast. Kakaorder pa lang namin pero anjan na agad yung food. Bring your own tissue because hindi sila masyadong generous sa tissue. Buy water from convenience stores. Ang mahal ng water sa loob ng amusement parks.
TRANSPORTATION: MTR is very easy to understand. Hindi delayed, hindi napupuno kahit rush hour. Very convenient so hindi namin triny mag-cab. Buses are also everywhere. If you're a driver, medyo madidis-orient ka lang kasi it's right-hand drive and left-lane.
TIP: Be prepared, esp if you're having a DIY itinerary. Know your MTR stations and bus stops. Download Google Translate. We rented a Wi-Fi device so we're always connected to the internet. We used mainly the wi-fi for getting directions.
