The Handmaid's Tale
« on: May 12, 2017, 09:35:32 am »
Hi mga sis! Anyone else watching this? I am so hooked! It is very disturbing and scary pero I can't help but watch it, gusto ko basahin yung book pero after na lang siguro matapos yung series.

"Better never means better for everyone. It always means worse for some"

It's as depressing as I remember it (from the book, my first truly dystopian read).  Grabe lang how they were quickly overrun by Gilead, iniisip ko how possible this is in this day and age.

Di ba sis? Sobrang not far from reality. Kakatakot talaga for us women. Pero if you think of it nangyayari na ito, lalo na sa ibang extremist communities and sa ibang country.

Sa series ang galing ng cast. Hands down to elisabeth moss. Tsaka parang walang make up ang mga handmaids noh? So yung emotions niya lahat nasa mata.

Anyways I can't wait for the next episodes. Grabe ang suspense. This is my favorite so far sa mga bagong series ngayon

Hindi rin masasabi na it's better to be a handmaid than to be sent to the colonies, kasi handmaids do not and will never have freedom anyway. Tapos kailangan mo pa mag-take part dun sa ceremony ng napakaweird naman for everyone!

I like elisabeth moss too, and alexis bledel seems like a much better actress now. Hindi sya originally yung idea ko of ofglen, but she's playing her nicely, considering the traumatic events ofglen went through. Nakalimutan ko na sya si rory, haha.

Right now, I'm just curious kung ano nangyari kay moira, kung patay na ba talaga, if they will show her how she was originally written or may flashbacks pa ba, at kung ano mangyayari kay ofglen/ofsteven after that stunt she pulled with the car.

Omg! Omg! So far ito talaga for me, ang pinakamagandang series this season. Yung mga kontrabida, hindi sila typical na just kontrabida because they each have a story. They each have their own struggle. At kahit yung bida. She's no angel. She is so real and relatable. Hands down sa mga artista ng show. the season finale is such a cliffhanger. Nakakabitin hehe. Kakainis. Haay grabe. I can't get over this show. Sobrang galing

So happy for Moira. Praised be! Haha.

Hindi na nagpakita si Ofglen/Ofsteven. Sayang naman.

Now that there's a second season, maybe totoo nga that Margaret Atwood might write a sequel to the book.

For some reason, I empathize with Serena Joy. Victim din naman sya of this new patriarchal society, kahit na sabihin natin na she had something to do with gilead's creation in the first place.

Janine and Nick are really starting to grow on me. For sure Nick will have an even bigger role in the next season.

I sooooo want to watch... dunno where. Sabi sa Hulu daw.

I've read the synopsis of the novel, but they said that the TV series exceeds the novel in a way that they made it truly relevant to our times.

Where nyo po pinapanood?
this is my life

Started watching this last night. Natapos ko na ngayon. I got hooked! So glad na may 2nd season.

Hehe.

Korek sis! Ramdam ko yung kaba sa dibdib ni offred everytime na may eksena with the commander haha! About Serena Joy, somehow i feel her pain. Parang she is so frustrated about how her life turned out, alam mo yun? To top it off, she lost her husband to gilead.

I can't wait for the 2nd season!

[SPOILER ALERT]

Season finale:

I enjoyed the handmaids' little rebellion against Aunt Lydia vs Janine.

The way they marched down the street afterward in unison was symbolic of them forming an army, plus the way they all walked in line in their red cloaks is a visual representation of menstruation: the very essence of womanhood, and the basis of their purpose in Gilead.

Finally, I liked that scene when June (Offred) willingly entered the dark van after she was arrested. It was a visual representation of her choice to return to the womb -- reverse birth, as it were -- to counteract her unwelcome pregnancy. If she's forced to give birth, she rebels against it by returning to the darkness away from the Waterfords.

BTW, the book's author, Margaret Atwood is one of my all-time favorite writers. I was stoked to see her perform a cameo in the pilot episode.

Episode 1 pa lang ako. The psychological and physical torture was too much for me kaya hindi ko muna pinanood yung second episode! I kept imagining it happening in real life kaya na-tense ako tuloy. Aunt Lydia is as iron fisted as ever. I like her or hate her. And finally, Offred..why am I not totally convinced about her escape just yet.

Dati, I was wondering kung okay pa yung second season because it's not entirely margaret atwood's storyline anymore and I was unsure if papanoorin ko pa nga kasi it can be so anxiety-inducing at times, but curiosity got the best of me and so patuloy pa rin!

Yung nangyari kay nick, what a twist.  Bakit naman patong-patong talaga ang issues ng mga nasa bahay na yun, never a dull moment. But the even bigger shock was of course yung nangyari sa ending ng latest episode. Had mixed feelings about it, really. I feel it's a victory on their part talaga kahit na it was all tragedy and violence, so medyo nasayahan pa ako, haha. Also kahit medyo hot/cold ang feelings ko kay serena, her backstory is one of the most interesting to me.

Oh, mahilig din ako sa TV soundtracks, but I may be too tense to notice what they're playing here, LOL.

Haven't watched the latest episode yet but came here to say that pregnant pala si yvonne strahovski. Masasabi ko lang is, blessed be the fruit!  :D

^May the Lord open. Hahaha!😁

Favorite ko tong series na to. I?m rooting for June and Nick. naaawa ako kay Serena Joy. Parang she?s very fragile right now. One of my fave episodes ay yung ep8 ba yun, yung kay Janine and Angela.

Every episode gives me goosebumps. Nakakatense!

Ako din siiis! Nick and june ako haha! Waahh!

I love serena haha! I love to hate her pero i pity her din.

Pero i still love love the series, siguro talagang ineestablish lang muna nila yung story nung mga bida bago ipasok yung ibang twists or plots  sa story
