Gum Grafting (Surgery for receding gums)

I searched and we don't have a topic about gum grafting yet.  I used to have braces so there is a small gap on my teeth.  I wonder if anyone here have experience about how this work.  The pricing, expectations... Does it hurt?  I have not seen anything concrete online.  Do help. Thanks!
