i agree with sis yannuh and all the girls who find hannah's reasons petty... magaling ang acting, hands down. pero yung story, parang nakukulangan ako ng lalim. i also have a crush on little tony..gay nga lang :/

hirap nito panuorin as a parent like me. yung suicide scene, grabe iyak ko. pati dun sa 13th recipient ng tape, naiyak ako habang ineexplain ni clay sa kanya yung mga nangyare. dami pang iniwang questions ng season na to. sana may 2nd season pa.

who are we to say na hannah's reasons are petty? Kaya madami nagsusuicide kasi feeling nila walang nakaka intindi sa kanila and because others think na yung reasons nila for depression doesn't matter, or petty. whoever and whatever kind of person Hannah is, she doesn't deserve to be treated how she was treated. Nagpatong - patong na eh, napuno na, kaya wala na ibang resort but to end her life kasi ano pang purpose, wala namang nakakaintindi sa kanya diba? She was being laughed at diba? She's feeling trapped na diba?

Well, show lang to. But I personally know some people na suicidal na kaya naiintindihan 'ko talaga si Hannah. Yung reasons ng mga kakilala ko ay ganap na mas "petty" as compared to what hannah has gone through, so alam mo yun? and let's be reminded na teenagers sila, in America (sa America nga ba? Basta sa ibang bansa). Ganap na iba ang pamumuhay doon compared sa Pilipinas.

My "normal" problem which one person might consider "petty", could be an "end of the world situation" to another.  Kanya kanya kase tayo ng perception to certain situations. 

Sa akin naman, I did not see Hannah as a flirt.  Ang dating sa akin is -- she was branded a "flirt" kase dun sa picture and kwento ni Justin.  Hence no matter what she does, "flirt" na ang tingin sa kanya.  I actually see her as a "shy" person who wanted to be "accepted" and someone who wants to "belong"... in her search for that ayun nagkapatong-patong na ang betrayal, disappointments and frustrations na nangyari sa kanya. 

She was close to her parents, but at that time yung family nya were struggling financially and naririnig niya ito, so that might be the reason why she did not confide in her parents.  Dadagdag pa ba sya? 

And sa totoo lang yung nangyari sa kanya -- yung na-witness niya, yung guilt niya dun sa accident, yung na-misplace niya (rather naiwala niya), tapos yung dun sa last party na nangyari sa kanya --- nakakaloka yun ahh! But pansinin niyo that even after those situations, gusto niya pa rin lumaban and she reached out to someone di ba?

I am not saying that those are reasons enough to end one's life.  But I just hope that this show will make us more aware and sensitive to other people.   Not to the point na nosy na ha, but be there for your friends and family... even an acquaintance na kelangan na kelangan ng makakausap.  Or simply just be a ray of sunshine in this gloomy world.  Who knows your smile or that simple nod of acknowledgement or "hello" might be a turning point for someone who is contemplating to end his/her life.

Sana lang may part sa life ni Hannah na inapproach nya din si God. But I totally understand her situation, especially sa age nya, sense of belongingness is a big factor. Plus madaling kiligin ang girls during highschool diba, kaya medaling ma-overwhelm sa guys na nagbibigay ng attention sa kanya. Maybe it was already too much for her to bear, lalo na yung scene na na-witness nya na eventually eh mangyayari din pala sa kanya.

I agree with what you've written about approaching God.  But you know naman that a lot of times ina-avoid yang topic na yan in books, tv series and movies (not unless the theme is talking about God)

Sa kin kase yung nung nasa cliff si Clay and Tony, the time na natapos na ni Clay pakinggan yung tape nya.  I cried.  Tumagos sa heart ko ang emotion at regret na naramdaman ni Clay... Ang sakit Besh!

Ang unforgettable siguro for me is yung scene na tina-try ng mom ni Hannah na buhatin sya from the tub while saying "it's okay, it's okay"..

Totoo kayang nag-suicide din si A? Kasi diba may scene na naglilinis sya ng room nya.. Eh one of the signs of suicidal ideation yun.
Or baka may twist din sa next season.

Wanted to see this for myself since it's controversial, kaya lang I'm really struggling to finish this, episode 3 pa lang nga ako. Hindi na talaga ako masyado nakakarelate sa mga shows set in high school (though for some reason I like Riverdale) or ones that have main characters who are only in their teens, mapa drama, comedy, action, or whatever pa yan. I feel old, LOL.

Having said that, just wanted to give my 2 cents based on the episodes na napanood ko, baka kasi yun lang ang makayanan ko mapanood, hahaha. Anyway, I feel this show captured naman the angst and stress of being in high school. Yes, I also do think medyo mababaw yung mga problema nila compared to what's out there, but I understand how difficult it can get when you're still at that age.  I see how Hannah came closer and closer to the edge. Kulang pa kasi talaga sa maturity and experience to deal with life's problems sa stage na yan di ba, plus maliit pa yung mundong ginagalawan so everything is magnified.

Regarding suicide, my honest opinion on that is everyday life can get tough, tougher than you can handle, so hindi talaga ako surprised that many people chose to just give up. There doesn't even have to be a major tragedy; even daily stresses can eventually trigger it for someone. And sometimes when you get overwhelmed, ang hirap makarecover even when help is available, so I don't want to say na dapat ganito or ganyan ang ginawa, bakit nya ginawa ito, etc., because it's really not that simple and it's different for everyone.

I'm on 5th episode pa lang kaya medyo iwas ako magbasa ng comments.
Naawa ako sa character ni Hannah. I can't help but remember those kids na nagsuicide din (example yung anak ni noni buencamino).
Ang hirap hirap siguro yung peer pressure plus pambubully sa kanila. Not that it justifies the reason for committing suicide, pero sana naging eye opener for everyone, especially sa parents (in this story i'm not sure if may pagkukulang sa parents, mukang ok naman sila... or mahirap lang din talaga sa part nung bata kasi only child sya). Iba lang din talaga ang environment and culture sa kanila as compared here (and sa generation ngayon compared dati na nakagisnan ko. I feel ancient already. lols!)  kaya may part na napapatanong pa din ako ng - Why?

Towards the end of the series, sobrang naawa ako kay Jessica at Justine. Ang galing ng pagkadevelop ng character ni Courtney kasi nagbuild up talaga yung inis ko sa kanya. Lol. Ang gwapo ni Zach at Jeff. Si Clay naman very charming he reminds me of Joseph Gordon Levitt.
