How to deal with your kid's bruha bff?
« on: January 21, 2017, 06:43:14 pm »
My tween has this bruha friend, I didnt really like her from the start dahil hindi siya marunong mag po at opo sa magulang niya at sa magulang ng iba. She sounds like social friendship lang habol niya sa anak ko or parang ginagawa niyang alila.
She left my daughter alone on one incident when she shouldn't have.
She asks my daughter to do some of her assignments, while I don't see her help my daughter with hers.
She didnt even look sad when my daughter was hospitalized, and  after lumabas ng hospital gusto niya pa umattend ng group project! - this was the last straw. This girl has to go!

Besides praying and hoping that she finds a better friend, what else can parents do?

hi, how old is your daughter, if I may ask, I assume minor pa? If yes, you're still the mother, role mo to guide her and teach her relevant lessons in life, though you can't choose your daughter's friends, and better mafigure out nya by herself kung sino ang real frien material, I don't think it will cause harm kung pangangaralan mo sya.

I called the attention of the teacher para pagsabihan yung bff ng niece ko.  If i see her do bad things to my niece, I might have to suggest sa kapatid ko (mom ng niece ko) na mag meeting with the parents of the bff.  Bastos na bata yun.

Iniisip ko, baka yung ugali ng bata reflects / says so much about the family.

Ganyan din yung sa bunso ko before. Pero bata pa sya nun k2. Lagi silang magkasama and the girl seems nice naman. Tapos nalaman ko ginagawa palang "helper" anak ko pag nasa school sila. Tagakuha ng shoes nya pag uwian, tagabitbit ng water bottle etc. i asked my then 5 yr old bakit nya ginagawa yun. Kung ayaw nya gawin, she should say no and tell her. My daughter said baka daw sabihin sa kanya na hindi na daw sila friends.
Then i told her na if the girl's really a true good friend, it will be ok with her. If she said "you're not my friend anymore" just because of that, then that means that girl is not a good friend in the first place. It's ok madami pang iba.
Tapos sinabi ko mga characteristics na hahanapin nila and to filter good friends....

So the next day kinausap ko yung teacher pa rin siempre and sinabihan nya yung girl. Lol
but my daughter also told her she doesn't want to do those things anymore and natuwa sya kasi ok lang naman pala dun sa friend nya.

Kids are simpler compared to tweens, i think...but as a mom, there's more you can do other than pray.
We can tell our kids to be kind and nice to others but it's also ok to say No if they don't want to do something. And a true friend will always understand.
We can guide them. We can ask them anong definition nila ng totoong kaibigan. And add some more of our own. Lagi siguro natin iremind so they'll know.
