Your love life: Fantasy v. Reality
« on: December 25, 2016, 09:08:24 pm »
Prior to being in a relationship, how did you envision your love life will be? By that I mean, how did you think/dream you will meet your boyfriend/husband/soulmate? Or what were the circumstances you envisioned you and your partner will have to go through? And how is your vision different from what actually happened/happening?

I am just curious because I think I am romanticizing "love life" too much. So i want to know people's real experiences.

Thank you!

Hi sis! Share ko lang my experience. Sa totoo lang, never ko naimagine that I will end up in a relationship like what I have with my husband. I only realized how I wanted my relationship to be when my husband and I were already together. Kasi, when I was already experiencing it, that's when I felt how right everything was.

Lol at "romanticizing" love life too much ...  ;D
even prior to having a relationship of my own, I was able to observe through other people's relationships that being in one is not all bed of roses.

but I envisioned someone who's romantic and sweet. the kind who'll give me flowers on special occasions, who'll open doors for me, do sweet nothings for me just to keep me happy.
-- reality: thankfully, I found him, still the same after all these years, flowers and all.

I envisioned someone who'll always just follow what I say (lol  ;D), lagi akong lambingin pag mag-aaway kami, etc.
--reality: it only happened nung mag-bf-gf pa lang kami. when we got married, hindi na ako nilalambing pag nagtatampo or nagagalit ako. so i just adjusted. no more pabebe. kelangan mag-mature in handling our differences.

all in all, i think the fantasy is believing in fairy tales na after they meet prince charming (usually once! haha), they fall in love agad, they get married, and everything is okay na "and they live happily ever after", that's it.
when in fact reality is, yes "happily ever after" is possible, but first, you have to get to know the person really well, and being in a relationship requires a lot of effort from both parties. kailangan ng constant nourishing, TLC, open & honest communication, etc...

Dream ko lang dati buong family ok na asawa and financially ok. What I have now more than what I want. Hindi ako nag expect na magiging ganito asawa ko sa akin. Alaga at pagmamahal na feeling ko hindi ko natutumbasan.
