I remember one story sa previous thread where the guests were at the reception and ang tagal magstart ng program - ng magstart, money dance agad and biglang nawala ang couple afterwards tapos the guests were waiting for the program to resume or for the food - wala.

Weeks after nalaman nila na kaya pala money dance agad is because ang laki pa ng kulang na pambayad sa venue and catering and they were counting kung magkano ang nakuha sa money dance na sadly hindi umabot - ang ending the couple ay nadala sa presinto.

In my own experience, madami naman nagbigay ng monetary gifts at nagsabit sa Money Dance pero nasa 20% lang ng total na gastos ang inabot ng monetary gifts (we had 100 guests).

Srsly, dinala sa presinto?1?! ON THAT DAY?  :o :o :o Grabe in all levels:

1.) grabe the couple kasi umasa sa money dance; I mean WHYYYYY????

Yung iba kasi ginagawang negosyo yung kasal.

I also know of another couple, simple lang yung wedding pero they also expected that they will get back what they spent through the various gifts and donations. Common pala talaga yung ganito.

Nakakaloka yung money dance with 4 songs. ;D

It's supposed to be a special occasion/celebration, hindi one-time-big-time-business-bazaar. :-\

Nakakaloka naman yung ginagawang business yung wedding! :( Anoba it's a celebration of love!!!

But still di enough to pay for everything. :)

^True. Kung iuutang pa yung pangkasal, have a simple and inexpensive wedding na lang.

Nakakaloka yung nakulong dahil walang pambayad :o

Kaloka yung logic na mababawe naman sa gifts, haha wala naman siguro super yaman na ninong or ninang na afford magbigay nga tipong mga 100k unless Politician (for publicity) or kamag-anak mo (they love you that much), or drug lords haha! Never sumagi sa isip ko yan, baka wala pa nga 5 % bumalik samin, and considering the efforts ng PS, magbihis, travel, show up, maski anong gift we will appreciate.

Sa loans, I don't see anything wrong with that, as long as sa banks, and babayaran nyo naman dalawa. Ganon naman na how things work nowadays, ke house, or car, even mobile phones, right?

^ That was what I was thinking din. Even if you were to treat it as a business (and you really shouldn't), it does not make sense pa din considering how much guests usually give. This reminds me of one couple sa Singapore na na-news kasi they went into debt din (like 100K+ dollars) and they said na one of the reasons daw is di nila na-consider na their guests weren't affluent pala so the gifts didn't even cover the table/food costs.

I don't think housing and car loans are same as getting a loan for a wedding. Kasi if you have problems paying for the loan you can always sell the house or the car. You may end up with a loss, pero you're not 100%  out. After your wedding, you have nothing that comes out of it na you can sell. Pero I agree na if you can realistically pay for the loan then there's nothing wrong with it, but I wouldn't say it's financially sound.

100K $ Wow, that's huge!

littlemissbiatch I am not a fan of debts, I actually hate it, heck I don't even have a credit card  ;D because I shun the idea of spending more than you earn or what you currently have.

But yeah, let's both agree na if you both think you are capable bayaran, then go ahead, utang away, be it a financial suicide, to each his own right?

^ I think spending money (which you don't have yet) for a wedding is quite a reckless thing to do. kasi we all know naman na hindi pa matatapos dyan ang expenses. in reality parang dyan palang magsisimula yung lifetime financial responsibilities for most of the couples. and although yes, I don't see any problem with loaning as long as you can pay for it naman, pero kung hindi kaya, sana pinag ipunan nalang muna kung ayaw nila isacrifice yung ideal kind of wedding.

I remember my sister got married at an early age dahil preggy na sya, the couple didn't bother to do a big wedding nalang. nag simple church wedding muna sila until such time na may extra budget na sila for that, saka na nila gagawin yung ideal wedding nila. and because of that nakaka proud yung sister ko, kasi for me that's such a mature kind of thinking. :)

^So true. Better have a simple one then once nakapag-ipon na, you can have your ideal wedding. Kaya siguro most of us are marrying in our late 20s or early 30s when we already have enough savings to cover for our own wedding expenses.

Live within your means. Yun lang yun! Hehe. Be humble. Iwas presinto! hehe.

Based on my experience. 3 years ago nagpakasal kami civil unang una dahil wala pa kami budget for our ideal wedding but mainly because magmimigrate kami abroad kaya agad agad kaming kinasal. It was the simplest of civil wedding hahaha just the judge and our family, after nung rites, kumain lang kami sa restaurant without even reservation. :D

Happy that we were able to fulfill our dreams few weeks ago. It was the best feeling! :)
