Cost-cutting 101: How do you save for your wedding?

Hi sisses, just want to know.. What are the things you temporarily sacrificed just to save up for your wedding?

Mine is:
1. Travel - from the usual 4x a year na travel, 1 travel per year nalang kame starting 2015 till 2017. naisip kasi naming ni H2B, we easily burn a minimum of 20k bawat alis naming (for a 4 day trip). pang bayad na din sa church un. hehe
2. Baon - usually I don't bring baon to work. pero lately, pag may pwedeng ibaon from our house, dinadala ko na para less ang expense ko for the day
3. Movie dates - download nalang! hahaha 500 din yun per movie ha

^Hi sis. Well we basically sacrificed everything. Hahahaha

- No more travels. We usually travel to 1 international and 2 domestic destinations every year.
- Lessen dates sa mga restaurants.
- No more shopping as in totally wala. I can't remember the last time I bought anything!
- I asked my parents if kung pwede wala muna ako Mothers'/Fathers' Day, bday, and xmas gifts this year. I promised bawi ako next year. Hahaha.

Basta all extra money after taking out all  bills (post paid plans, rents and allowance) goes to the savings account. Heheh

in fairness sis malaki laki din talaga yung natitipid sa pag tigil muna sa travel noh?

^Yes sis! Especially sa akin kasi maarte ako pagbumabyahe. We stay in nice hotels and eat good food so we really spend a lot when we travel.

Pinakamalaki for me is baon. I used to buy lunch. Ngayon my H2B packs lunch for me everyday.

I also stopped buying coffee. I make breakfast and coffee at home and eat it on the train na.

Also travel. Last year we went to the Philippines 3 times. One time just for one weekend to surprise my mom for her birthday. Wala munang ganon. Kasi not only we spend a lot travelling, we also lose in terms of lost income kasi H2B does not get paid leave.

3x lang ang travel namin this year. Lahat pinas and for wedding preps.
I sacrificed my BKK and Rome trip... Both 3days sana including travel time na basta maluwag ang flights namin. Gusto ko pumunta bkk to eat, shop (hair accessory at bridesmaids MOH gifts) and magpa massage. Gusto ko sana magpunta  ng Rome para magsimba, dumaan sa holy door, bumili sana ng rosaries for favours at kumain ng pasta at pizza!

I also stopped going to ZARA lalo na nung sale. pati sa mga malls nung sale, direcho lang tingen ko or hihilahin ako ni h2b haha

Sa food binawasan namin ang food trips pero madame pa din kameng cheat days in total. This is something na nahirapan kame iwasan.

I feel you sis. eto kasi kadalasan talaga ang bonding ng mga couple eh. even kame nahihirapan din umiwas sa gastos pagdating sa food, kaya namimili nalang kame ng resto na hindi kamahalan, that way nababawasan yung guilt of spending on food again

Kami din travel! I'm supporting my H2B na bawasan namin ang kakatravel pati yung mga date nights sa medyo mahal na restaurant.

Dun ko nga narerealize na kaya pala namin! Kaya namin magbawas ng travel, kaya magbawas ng dates, magtipid, at syempre, makaipon ng pang gastos sa kasal at savings para sa post-marriage life. Hahaha

1. Travel -- eto talaga ZERO, kahit gustong gusto ko na makatapak sa buhangin.
2. Date Night (Movies and Resto -- Na-lessen lang pero di naman talaga give up. Sa medyo mura ng slight, kahit na almost every week nagdedate pa din kami (lalu na pag may meeting with the suppliers, di maiiwasan kumain sa labas).
3. Shopping -- I considered myself kasi somewhat shopaholic, I'm still trying soooo hard to lessen it pero napapabili pa din ako paminsan-minsan Huhuhuhu! Paano kaya yun iiwasan? Pero di kagaya dati na talagang bili ng bili. :p
4. Coffee -- I'm also a coffee addict and sa lunch time di mawawala yun at may dessert pa pero ngayon HINDI na pag may extra na lang.

I still need to sacrifice a lot of things to save more not just for the wedding, but most importantly for the future as well. Ayoko naman iasa lahat kay h2b yung future namin kasi di na ako naniniwala sa ganun. Mas maganda talaga ang nagtutulungan sa lahat ng bagay. I just needed to control myself MORE pero I think naman I'm doing just fine kahit papano.

Almost same with the others, bawas muna sa date. We usually watch a movie and eat outside every weekend. But now, kapag super ganda nalang ng movie and after church nalang kami kumakain sa labas. Hehe. Tipid mode on talaga. No normal life before the wedding. Hahaha!

^ di ko masasabing we sacrificed the travel kasi May sya nagpropose and before that naka-1 international and 1 local travel na kami this year. And this October, may travel kami sa Cebu for my birthday. Siguro more on dinner dates, movie and bowling dates and shopping din yung nasasacrifice namin. As in sa bahay na lang din kami kumakain, nanonood. Nagbabaon na rin ako for lunch sa office.
^We used to join hiking and funruns, pero nasasayangan na rin kami sa registration fees. That's why tumatakbo na lang kami every weekend sa may BGC.
^We used to treat our family for dinners pero ngayon, di na muna (which they understand).

We converted our travel fund na iniipon namin every cut-off to after marriage fund. Good thing is before the proposal wala pa kaming planned trips kaya na save talaga sya. Malaking tulong din yung i lessen ang date na kakain pa sa labas. What I did naman to help him is before kasi sya talaga sa bill. Ngayon split na kami.

Hi mga sis, I like this thread thanks for sharing.

We started saving for our wedding last December 2014. We almost have 2 years. We use our excess Grocery Fund to top-up Kasal Fund. Sa travel fund hindi namin binawasan tuloy tuloy lang. We had several trips (Bintan Indonesia, Phuket Thailand and Europe trip) last year 2015. And this year puro travels naman ay pauwi ng Pinas.

Halos wala kaming nasacrifice, malaki din sanang savings yon. Sa lifestyle, hindi kami mahilig kumain sa labas or mamili ng mga gamit. Bihira kami kumain sa mga fancy restaurants or kapag may nagyaya or may okasyon lang piling-pili kami kumakain sa labas.

We simply follow income less savings equals expenses and were all done na sa budgeting.

Ang pinaka sacrifice ko talaga is yung budget sa investments ko hindi nako nakapagdagdag pa. Balak namin pagsamahin na after the wedding.

^Nice sis. Buti nakapagsave kayo for the past two years without having to sacrifice your travel fund. When we started working, we have our own personal savings. And when we talked about settling down, that's the only time we merged our savings.
