I love this book!  It's a simple friends to lovers second chance romance story but written so well. No unnecessary drama, just the two main characters sorting out their feelings and "issues".

Yes, one lang. Okay na sana eh. But the plot twist ruined and cheapened the story. I'm now thinking twice about watching the upcoming movie version of the book.

It's supposed to be a romance story but for me this is more of a story about how cancer can affect people in our lives.  How people deal with loss and failures differently.  I love how this is written but I felt like the romance part was a bit forced hence the - .5 in my rating.

i think i just got so hyped up (with the publicity na pinopost ni amy harmon and the reviews plus the fact that i LOVED all amy harmon books)  that's why this so it felt so short in real life? i FORCED myself to finish this book just so i can move on with my life and start reviewing for the boards. i've only ever had 2 DNF books and i dont want an amy harmon to add to the list. anyway, i feel like this book has a lot of deus ex machina moments, especially overtly blatant ones like what's in this book. having read a lot of books, i've come to realize deus ex machina and kinda gets disappointed when an author (esp someone like amy harmon!) will just result to this to solve up a problem.

my opinion on the book:

1. the story felt forced and very predictable halfway thru the book i kinda guessed that this and that would happen para lang masolve ang problem about this and that.
2. it's not badly written but the author's usual style is absent. yun pa naman ang pinakalolook forward ko sa mga libro ni amy harmon. did she really write this?
3. a few pages can be deleted to shorten up the book.
4. the drama with the volgar was not brought to an acceptable conclusion, i get a bit anxious cause the book is about to end and nothing much was said about the volgars. i know that obviously that's like a technique to give the effect that volgars are still out there ready to take on a possible 3rd book but damn it feels like a few pages were not printed out, ganun siya kaabruptly na-stop. feeling ko tuloy the publishers are pressuring amy so badly na she just submitted a half baked book just to get it over with.
5. i dont get why ariel of firi is after sasha sa first half of the story although it can be later explained nung last scene niya sa book. but i dont get the exaggerated high alert security around sasha sa una. like duh di naman siya ang target talaga so why the f nag-oobssess si kjell over it.
6. so in the end everything was twisted and turned to give kjell the best life there is, the best happy ending. it sounds so fairytale-ish. couldn't help but think more than once how convenient everything is for him. my god i could've rolled my eyes.

Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Medyo late bloomer ako when it comes to Mr. Gaiman. Pero this book is 9/10 for me. I liked na medyo feminist yung ending ng story. Medyo gory yung ibang parts pero I guess that's the way Mr. Gaiman is. I loved the subtle lessons about life as well.

I like his fiction more than his nonfiction but no doubt this is a great collection. Very insightful.

Survivor - Chuck Palahniuk    & 1/2
It's in the storytelling. It's in the choice of words. I don't know how Palahaniuk does it. I sometimes read the same sentence more than once in awe of how well he weaved the phrases together.

My favorite Palahniuk is still Invisible Monsters though.

A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maas    & 1/2
This is the first book in the YA fantasy series that is currently making the rounds on IG with a fan base of readers almost half my age. While it was a bit weird having a faerie queen talk like a millennial, I have to say I enjoyed it because of its simplicity and the kilig feels.

Loved this book!  I appreciate the banters and that at least it wasn't the usual "insta hook-up" despite the instant attraction.

Finally done reading Sarah J. Maas' ACOTAR trilogy:

A Court of Thorns and Roses
A Court of Mist and Fury
A Court of Wings and Ruin
Rating: & 1/2

It's about a human girl who finds herself locked up in faerie realm. The first book is a loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast while the succeeding books revolve around the conflicts among the faerie courts and between the faerie and human worlds.

Took me a week and a half to finish all 3 books. Easy read; each one of them a page-turner. Nothing serious or intellectual here. Nothing that will make you want to become a better person. They're entertaining if you ignore the author's tendency to repeat the same phrases over and over and over... and the childishness of the main characters. Even the lead female is an ungrateful whiny little b.

I think its target readers are people in their late teens and early 20s, so I understand the book's tone/language and why the characters have to be the way they are. Realized, by the way, that this is not YA but NA (New Adult). Several sex scenes especially in the third book, ACOWAR. Some of them unnecessary.

I read that the author is writing more books, turning the trilogy into a saga. I will most likely read them when they come out.
