Long Haul Flight: PAL vs Eva Air

Hi mga sis. May naka-experience na ba sa inyo long haul flights using PAL and Eva Air? Which is better?

I've only tried PAL and the only reason we choose it is because it flies direct, we get to earn miles, and comfortably wait at their lounges in the airport (for Mabuhay Miles members). I have no issue naman with PAL. If you pay for economy, you have to deal with the limited leg room and less than stellar food that I actually like HAHAHAHA. Kahit saang airline naman siguro ganito naman talaga. For food, you get served breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. For in-flight entertainment, they provide an iPad filled with the latest TV shows and movies. Wi-FI, on the other hand, you have to pay for. For the leg room, of course, flying business for long-haul is super ideal kahit na anong airline pa yan, but sometimes it depends on the kind of plane they will be using rin so minsan economy is okay if on budget. My first flight to London, the seats were old and crammed (mas maganda pa yung planes pag domestic, smh), while my second time was the complete opposite of that.

My overall rating for comfort and service would be 8/10. It's not cheap, it's not extremely expensive either but you get a stellar experience nonetheless.

Have not tried PAL for long hail flights but just recently flied EVA Air.
Eva has good leg room and seat pitch even for coach, reason why we chose it.
Food was ok. We had the same kind of food served even on the return flight.

^sis rics yan din ang nabasa kong feedback.... EVA Air has a good leg room daw, pero pagtiningnan ko sa seatguru.com pareho lang naman sila.....

Haven't tried Eva Air pero PAL, several times na. 

Advantage is that PAL is a direct flight.  Sometimes may tech stop sa Honolulu for gasoline and cleaning of the toilets. 

First time ko was 2005 - everybody gets to view the same movies pa that time.  May big screen sa gitna yung iba eh makikitingin dun sa nearest monitor sa kanila. 

In 2011, dumami na ang variety ng movies na mapapanood so you get to choose na and you already have your own monitor. 

Food? Since hindi ko pa natry ibang carriers, I may say, bitin.  Pero I think, lahat naman ng in flight food eh ganun. 

Leg room, ayun parang bus :p

I have tried JAL, and although I like the food and service, there isnt enough leg space
I could say the same for Korean air.
Mas maluwag naman kahit paano sa Eva air.

Have flown both airlines and aside from PAL having a direct flight, EVA airlines I think is a lot better in food and service. Stopover in Taiwan is not bad especially if you are not in a hurry.

Agree with NC! I love PAL because it's our flag carrier and they're always very warm and accommodating, but EVA has better food and service, and newer planes too!

I took Eva air going to the US some 5+ years ago. They have good leg room for PREMIUM economy/elite class. Not economy. Ibang class Ito but tickets are not as expensive as business class. You just add mga few hundreds usd if I remember it right. Lagi lang full kaya need to book ahead of time. Lagi syang fully booked and as far as I can remember, sya lang Yung airline that offers this class (at that time).  Recently though, both Cathay and Singapore airlines decided to introduce this class din for some of their Long haul flights. Mas sulit naman kasi with the leg room.

If point to point travel, I'll go with PR for the convenience of a direct flight but only in business class because their economy class sucks. Otherwise, I'll go with BR (Eva Air) for their in-flight entertainment/amenities and slightly newer airplanes.

But die-hard CX (Cathay Pacific) pa rin ako traveling on any class. Although I've been traveling on business class ever since I've started having problems with my knees on long flights.

Why do you like CX more kahit sa economy? Reasons pls.? I'm planning on going again to the US, by last week of Nov or 1st week of Dec this year. This time sa Vegas sana. Try ko mag tingin tingin na ng prices. Sa PAL bakit wala na ang route na to?

Asiana and korean air medyo cheaper din compared sa ibang airlines.

Now you mentioned about asiana and korean air, im torn between the 2 airlines.they offer the cheapest flight i could find so far from cebu to sfo. I have read the reviews and halos same lang quality of service nung 2. If you have to choose asiana or korean which would you prefer?

^no, they're not. They're different airline companies both based in South Korea. Korean Air (KE) was founded in the 60s while Asiana (OZ) in the late 80s.

Yung PAL na MLA-LAX and LAX-MLA, chambahan kung yung plane niyo may inflight entertainment system (yung seatback TV). Yung pauwi ko from LA, jusko wala. Buti na lang may dala akong libro. Ang saklap.

^ I really thought i was the one who posted that kase I had the exact experience last month on my MNL-LAX-MNL flights, down to finishing a book nung pauwi buti na lang din sobrang konti lang ng tao the flight back here, nasolo ko yung ab seats sa row namin so medyo maluwag yung pagkakaupo ko.

It's been a while since I traveled with Eva Air but I'll go with Eva Air. Better overall quality for food, seating, and in-flight entertainment. And mas trip ko FAs ng Eva Air.

^ It's probably because of the language barrier. My friend is an FA for Eva Air and she kinda pretends to understand what I'm saying even though she doesn't get some of the words. They do their best to tell passengers the airline protocol and avoid petty chats since nakakahiya if they can't communicate with the passengers.
