Do you think nagsisimula na?

In a way natatakot ako dito lalo na kung mistaken identity pala.

"The Philippines Press enjoyed all the freedoms, but they failed the Filipino People. A wildly partisan press helped Filipino politicians to flood the marketplace of ideas with junk and confused and befuddled the people so they could not see what their vital interests were in a developing country."
~ Lee Kuan Yew

I browsed ABS CBN facebook page kanina..  yung mga news nila, puro showbiz and NBA na lang ngayon... nga-nga sila ngayon.. wala ng mabalita about kay digong..

honestly im also disappointed and dismayed dun sa mga sinabi ni Digong  (catcalling and cursing). I feel that he is like a spoiled brat kid, na pag sinaway mo eh lalo ka lang aasarin.  but still, amidst all of the negative news about him, Im still with our President.

we really need a leader with Political Will.. we need to change as a nation and as a whole. sana people cooperate for the greater good. Nation building sana at hinde crab mentality umiral sa atin.

the Media has been really harsh to President Elect Digong. its good na wala na sya presscons. less talk less mistake in my opinion. but as pointed out here id rather have a President na hinde sweet talk lang ang gawa at papogi. Patawarin na lang natin un pagmumura nya basta magawa nya trabaho nya. and para mas maging successful sya sa trabaho nya bilang Presidente eh kailangan natin sya suportahan at igalang.

^ Kelangan lang talaga change yun manner of speaking the truth.

Lee Kwan Yew was a very straightforward person. He calls a spade a spade, even to the extent of calling his people as "whiners". Like he never cursed other countries because he knew they need the help of other nations to progress. Hindi porque you speak the truth, excused ka na to be rude.

It's good to call out Duterte din sa mga mali nya na pagsasalita so he could tone down. Mali yun minimura nya yun UN, for example. In the end, sa atin lahat balik nyan eh. Kailangang kailangan natin sila.

Him becoming better, him being more diplomatic now that he is our president for 6 years, will benefit all of us in the long run. As stated before, our loyalty naman is & should be to our country. Tapos na election. Hindi naman tayo fans club to be defensive kahit na mali talaga si PDigong.

Retired General Linked: DRUGS MONEY BEHIND DUTERTE MEDIA ATTACK

    Retired general linked

    DRUGS MONEY BEHIND
    DUTERTE MEDIA ATTACK

    By Manny Piñol

The country's biggest drug syndicates are believed to be behind the black propaganda campaign to prevent anti-drug crusader and leading presidential candidate Rody Duterte from winning the Presidency.

In an exclusive interview tonight, top police officers involved in the campaign against drugs who requested anonymity, said that the operation of the drug lords are believed to be coordinated by a top aide of administration presidential candidate Manuel Roxas III.

They identified the Roxas top aide as retired police general Marcelo Garbo whose links to known drug lords like Peter Co is "public knowledge in Camp Crame."

Peter Co, now a detainee in the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa Metro Manla, is believed to be the head of the multi-billion peso illegal drugs operations in the country, one of the police officers said.

Garbo, the police officers said, is so influential because of his connections with Roxas that he virtually chooses who should be assigned as Police Directors in the different regions of the country.

Garbo recently hit the headlines after he was seen meeting with four active police generals in the Novotel Hotel in Cubao, Quezon City.

The police officers said one of the four police generals involved in the controversial meeting also has links with drug lords operating in his area, one of whom was identified as "Dragon."

"They're scared of the Duterte Presidency," the police officers said in explaining the deep involvement of known drug lords in the black propaganda campaign against Duterte.

"But what is more scary is the grim prospect of seeing a Narco-Pollice Force because of the involvement of top police officers in drugs," one of the officers said.

The reported arrests of 10 to 20 kilos of "shabu" are mere cover ups for bigger deliveries of 300 to 500 kilos of drugs, they said.

"They will set up the arrest of couriers carrying 10 to 20 kilos of shabu to divert attention from hundreds of kilos being transported to as far as Mindanao," the police officers said.

The police officers said a Roxas Presidency would make Garbo very powerful and his links with known drug lords could transform the Philippines into a Narco State.

"While we are afraid of a grim scenario of a Narco State, these drug lords are also scared of a Duterte Presidency," they said.

This, they said, explains the massive and relentless black propaganda campaign against Duterte.

The police officers said they are prepared to come out in the open after the elections and unmask other police officials who have links with drug operations in the country.

But I also have seen media chop chop the words by Duterte for propaganda. They omitted all the diplomatic things Duterte mentioned. Dutere also mentioned some time ago that he will be more sensitive with his wordings once he officially took over the presidency.

^ And people should be more critical in what they read and watch. Double check the info muna before voicing opinions or sharing articles(especially the sacritical ones). Prob kasi kay duterte marami talagang sablay sa mga sinasabi niya kaya daming napupulot ng media and most of those sinabi niya naman talaga. Lahat naman ng administrations binatikos ng media kaya i dont see why naging us against media na ngayon ang fanatics niya, kapag may negative na balita = bias na agad.. And i see positive news naman tungkol sa kanya madalas..

Can somebody here tell the Pinoys commenting on UN's page to stop it? Nakakahiya na!!!  They seem to listen more from a fellow Duterte voter.

The UN has been our biggest helper when we have calamities. Dahil lang sa statement nila, super dami na nangangaway sa kanila ngayon sa FB and even blaming the war in Middle East on them.

I hope Filipinos realize how important international relations is. Sigh.

^ Nope. Like what is the Media or anyone else, laging nagpapa sensationalized ng issues kaya hindi rin tumitigil. Kaya I would say, ignore na lang.

Per my observation, these people, kaya naging matapang mag voice out, eh ngayon lang nila naramdaman at na-feel na may somebody sa likod nila.

Best thing to do is to ignore.

I remember a long time back, sinabi ni Claire danes marumi daw ang pilipinas at madaming ipis, aba galit ang mga pinoy!

Nakuyog din sya but on a different issue naman. Unfortunately, nakakahiya man, pero mga pinoy mahilig talaga manguyog. Mahilig talaga tayong mag-rally kaya nga every presidency, may impeachment rally. Now our rallies are not limited on the streets, we are now also doing it in the worldwide web.

And just check pinoy celebrities’ social profiles. Too much misguided democracy.

I agree that as of now, what we can all do is ignore and stop feeding these fanatics. And I hope that somehow, magkaroon ng araan na ma-disiplina mga pinoy sa social media, like educating them on social media ethics and seryosong turuan ng GMRC

Hahha exactly! Tsaka alam naman ng supporters nya how he works as a political leader. At yun ang mas importante for me, ang magtrabaho sya ng maayos. People are doubting him because of the way he talks and the words that come out of his mouth. I could not blame them, by the way. But I really trust him because of what he has accomplished in davao. Hind eh. Mga taga davao mismo, including my parents and relatives and friends.

And on the things he said about civilians killing druglords, people should note that if kung sino2x lang din yung papatayin nila, I don’t think they’ll get away with it. Duterte is clearly anti-drugs and anti-crime too. For sure kung may aabuso sa mga yan, mananagot din sa batas, either civilian or police or what. Kaya sana yung mga fanatics from both sides, ingat din sa pagri-react.

Can't wait til Duterte starts as President na officially. About time he delivers. May all his supporters' justifications be worth it.

Again, he IS the PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES. His words reflect on and affect our nation.

Re the media - natutuwa akong wala na kong naririnig about Duterte's words - dahil honestly, his statements strike me as that of a spoiled brat who got criticized and is throwing a huge tantrum. But then again, with less media coverage on him, with the media relatively 'in the dark' - I feel like our right to know is restricted too. We will only get what the media is 'fed'.

^ Your last 2 sentences, it is also a concern for me. It's like having only a censored or for-propaganda media (PTV4).

Anyway, since so many Filipinos love to have another Lee Kwan Yew, here is a video of LKY putting a hostile journalist in his place. https://www.facebook.com/FabricationsAboutThePAP/videos/833458610043482/

I admire how LKY chose his words and remained diplomatic while shooting down the interviewer. It was straightforward but prudent -- no rudeness at all. That's why he has always been a good statesman.

It's something PDigong can learn from. And we need to remind him to use his mouth better as he represents our country in every meeting or event he goes to (whether local or international). I'm holding on to his promise that he will change his manner of speaking after Jun 30.

Nararapat lang ito.

Criminal liability age may be lowered to 12

Criminal liability age may be lowered to 12

    Alexis Romero (The Philippine Star) - June 8, 2016 - 12:00am

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will ask Congress to lower the age of criminal responsibility following reports that criminal gangs are using children to peddle illegal drugs.

The measure lowering the minimum age for criminal responsibility is among the priorities of the incoming administration, Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, Duterte’s choice as the next House speaker, said yesterday.

Alvarez did not say, though, what the minimum age of responsibility in the proposed legislation will be.

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said he is in favor of lowering the age of criminal responsibility from 15 to 12.

“The bill will just bring back (the age of criminal responsibility) to 12. It used to be nine years old. And everybody was in favor of 12,” Belmonte said in a chance interview.

Belmonte said Sen. Francis Pangilinan raised the minimum age to 15 when the amendments to the Juvenile Justice System and Welfare Act were being tackled in 2013.

“Nobody seemed to notice. And later on, all of us were asking why did it become 15? Why not 12?” Belmonte said.

“I think I would go 100 percent to go back to 12, not nine,” he added.

The proposed bill seeks to amend Republic Act No. 10630, which amended the Juvenile Justice System and Welfare Act of 2006.

Under the law, a child 15 years old or below at the time of the commission of the crime shall be exempt from criminal liability. The offender, however, will undergo an intervention program designed by the government.

Critics said drug rings are taking advantage of the current law and are using children as couriers because they would only be sent to a reform facility if they get caught.

Compare natin with other advanced nation.
Quote

United States of America

The minimum age of criminal liability is set at the federal and state level in the United States. At the state level, 33 states set no minimum age of criminal responsibility, theoretically allowing a child to be sentenced to criminal penalties at any age [Cipriani,D. Children's Rights and the Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility: A Global Perspective, Ashgate 2009, p. 221 and 222], though in most of these states a capacity related test is applied.

Of the States that do set a minimum age of criminal responsibility, North Carolina has the lowest at seven years, while Wisconsin has the highest at ten years. [For full references of state laws see Cipriani D., Children's rights and the minimum age of criminal responsibility: A global perspective, Ashgate 2009, p. 219 and 220]

Canada

No person can be convicted of an offence in respect of an act or omission committed while under under the age of 12. [Criminal Code, Section 13]

https://www.crin.org/en/home/ages/Americas

United Kingdom.

England and Wales.

Children can be held liable for criminal offences from the age of 10. [Children and Young Persons Act 1933, Section 50]

Northern Ireland.

No child under the age of 10 can be found guilty of a criminal offence. [Criminal Justice (Children) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998, Article 3]

Scotland.

No child under the age of eight can be found guilty of any criminal offence, but no person under the age of 12 may be prosecuted for an offence and a person aged 12 or older may not be prosecuted for an offence committed while under the age of 12.[Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act, Sections 41 and 41A(1)-(2)]

The gap between the minimum age of prosecution and the minimum age of criminal liability means that criminal offences committed between the age of 8 and 12 may be included on a child's criminal record, though a prosecution may not take place. As of July 2013, the Scottish Government said it “[would] consider calls for the minimum age of criminal responsibility to increase”. [The Herald Scotland, “Dismay as reform fails to stop criminal records for children” 1 July 2013]
