Growing out your Rebonded Hair
« on: May 19, 2016, 04:24:42 pm »
Anyone here na naging successful in growing out rebonded hair? I need inspirations  :)

I started having my hair rebonded every 8 mos or so nung 2007. Pero ngayon parang napagod na ko sa chemicals and sa gastos so I want to grow out my rebonded hair and let my natural hair reign upon my head hehe! By the way my natural hair is wavy and thick as in really thick na nakuha ko sya ipa-undercut dati. I had my last rebond 8 mos ago and so far ok pdin naman hair ko. Still manageable and presentable. Hindi lang masyado maganda yung part ng hair ko where the rebonded part and natural part meets. pero yung bagong tubo na hair ko looks tamed and healthy. I think it's partly because I dont shampoo my hair on a daily basis. I discovered kasi na shampoo pala ang cause ng severe dandruff ko (sebhorreic dermatitis daw according to my derma) so I just shampoo my hair twice a week and condition everyday. Please share your growing out rebonded hair stories mga sis  :)

Hi sis! 9 months na yun huling rebond ko. Twice a year ako magparebond pero I decided this year to bring back my kulot hair. Kahit natural remedies i tried wala pa rin. So i decided na ibalik na muna yun hair ko sa dati. 16 years na rin akong nagpapatreat ng hair. Nagsimula sa relax hanggang sa rebond. Sa ngaun palagi ako naka headband and nakaipit.

Following!!

Goal ko rin to. I have my hair rebonded every 6 mos or so since i was 14. Lol
Any advice to have it grow out gracefully and without the chaka stage will be much appreciated. :)

I have naturally wavy hair at sobrang pasaway ang kinky baby hairs ko. Di ako nagpaparebond, relax lang since yun ang uso nung HS lol. Until 4th yr college madalas din ako magparelax ng hair until I decided na tigilan na kasi super damaged na ng hair ko that time. Sobrang numipis and split ends ko bongga din.

When i tried growing my hair out, tiis tiis talaga kasi chaka na kumukulot yung taas while direcho pa yung ibaba. Haha i had no choice but to always put my hair in a bun which was apt kasi nag-iintern na ko nun sa hospital. Nung medyo bumaba na yung kulot, mga hanggang tenga, i had my hair cut short, mga a little above the shoulder. Tapos i curl the ends pag may time ako. Pag tinatamad ako mag curl, pony tail lang. Tapos ayun within a year natural na ulit hair ko. Tuwa ako kasi definitely mas naging healthy yung feeling ng hair. Nung medyo wavy na the whole length, I would tie it in a bun sa umaga after matuyo, tapos bago ako lumabas ng bahay tanggal ko yung tali, then put mousse or gel while crumpling the ends of my hair. Simula nung nagstop ako magparelax ng hair, di na din ako nagpapatreat or kung ano man. I would sometimes color my hair pero sobrang bihira lang. Siguro 2x lang in 5 years. Sobrang nakatulong sya kasi mas naging healthy talaga hair ko. Everytime magpapatrim ako the stylist would always ask kung natural daw hair ko, kung ano daw treatment pinapagawa ko, etc. At higit sa lahat nakuha ko pa magpa pixie! :-) ang saya. Hehe

Kaya i'd say tiis tiis lang talaga sa simula when you're starting to grow your hair out. There's no easy way eh pero for me worth it naman.

Rebond ba tawag sa Japanese thermal reconditioning? Anyway I get Japanese thermal reconditioning every 8 to 12 months for 5 years now. Straight and thick hair, na mahirap ayusin and tumitikwas, ginawa ko na lang para lang mapadali buhay ko. In between treatments, konting shampoo lang everyday, conditioner or Argan oil sa dulo.

oh no! yung kasama ko dito sa office bagong rebond.. naka-tempt tuloy. iniisip ko na lang pag di ako nagparebond mas madami ako pwede gawin sa hair ko like ipa-perm, ipa-bobcut or itali pag sobrang init . pag rebonded kasi parang wala choice but to let your hair down. by the way, mga sis do you know what haircut works best for thick wavy hair? and what's your current haircut?

^Mid bob works for me in between treatments. Just make sure na iyong hairdresser hindi gumagamit ng blade sa dulo pag layering na, lakas kasi makatikwas or makasira ng buhok sa dulo and natural ang bagsak ng buhok pag gunting gamit.

Me too! I have a wavy hair and i am planning to let it grow na naturally. Last rebong ko was june last year so yung sa top, mga hanggang tenga na yung haba ng kulot, kasi yung sa ilalim part nakatago pa sa mga straight na hair. I cut my hair ahort mga 8inches less.

I rebond my hair annually. But lately I feel so tired waiting for my hair to  dry up. My hair like yours sis Pocahontas, long thick and wavy that's why i opted for rebond. But since I started rebonding my hair i noticed no matter what treatment I do, every after shampoo super frizzy nya unlike nung di pa sya rebonded. So I am planning to grow out my hair na. Btw my hair when I first had my rebond is up to waist na. So Fter rebond mas humaba pa sya. Anyways.... I will just see if the natural oil will come back and the frizziness will go away. Never naman kasi naging ganun kalagkit kahit may conditioner hair ko nung di pa ako nagrerebond. Oh well i do hope umayos buhok ko :)

On days that I only use conditioner, dumadapa naman at bumabagsak siya. Pag shampoo days, buhaghag ulit pag tuyo pero i dont use brush pagka ganoon. Yung wide comb lang para mukhang no suklay look at manageable. Pag brush the more buhaghag siya haha.

I tried having keratin treatment before at bench fix. Masasabi kong ito ang legit na keratin results than those of parlor sa gigilid and even nabibili sa mga watsons. Iba yung bagsak and hindi freezy.

I also started investing in sulfate and silicon free products. Lastly, stray away from heat! Though never naman ako gumagamit ng blow dryer/heat styling tools, eto yung tip na nababasa ko sa lahat ng websites hehe since mas prone to breakage and damage ang hair pag masyado madaming heat.

I can't vouch na the things I did while growing my hair out will work for everybody pero if I were to recommend, siguro yung trimming (for people who are suffering from split ends) and home treatment. Wag kayo mag-alala if sobrang pangit ng hitsura kasi kitang-kita yung division ng wavy and straight hair. in 8 months to 1 year, mawawala na yan. Have patience and have faith. Good luck with growing your rebonded hair out and I hope you'll fall in love with your natural hair 'cos it might be more beautiful than you think it is.:)

Gi tried using shampoo every other day tapos conditioner lang. Hindi ko kaya. Makati ulo ko. Pag scratch parang may dandruff. Feeling ko ang dumi dumi. Lalo ako nangangati. What I do every night na lang is put sunflower oil para ma moisturize siya and mas mabilis ang hair growth tapos hampoo conditioner pa din sa umaga para nawawash talaga yung hair. Kung nasa bahay lang ako or office naka upo lang, baka ma take ko yung di mag shampoo pero i am always out for the entire day every day so hindi talaga applicable ang ganoon regimen for me. Dumi sa pakiramdam and makati.  :'(

one year na since my last rebond and i can see na healthy looking naman yung tumutubo kong hair. so to avoid the tempatation of having my hair rebonded again, pinagupit ko ng maikli hair ko above shoulder tapos layered. i'm loving it so far. may rebonded part padin sa bandang ibaba pero keribels lang. excited na ko makitang humaba na all natural ang hair ko. unlike dati nung nagpaparebond pa ako nag aalala ako na humaba ng matulin hair ko kasi lalabas agad ang sumpa.

The first time na nag attempt ako na wag na magpa rebond, ginawa ko nagpa kulot ako.  ;D Para di makita ang sumpa. Naging succesful naman. After that, nung tumubo na hindi na noticeable yung "wave" na part. Di na ko nagpapa rebond after that.
