Hi mga sis! How is everyone's preps going?

I just reviewed the OLLP missalette and tama ba ko na allowed ang "personal vows"? Kasi there was this recent BCCP ruling na sabi nila bawal na or depende ba to sa officiating priest?

Hi Sis Ziyi! Eto yung unang natanong ko nung nagpareserve kami. Unfortunately, hindi daw allowed ang personal vows sa OLLP. Sa reception na daw yun ginagawa sabi ng nakausap namin.. This weekend kami nagpunta.

Aww ganun ba so di na pala updated yung misalette. I was thinking pa nman baka pwedeng ipakiusap na mgkaroon ng vows after the marriage rites before the priest says "you may kiss the bride". Iba pa rin kasi kpag sa ceremony mo talaga ginawa yung vows eh..

Hindi ko rin alam kung pano isisingit yun kung sa reception gagawin
Hindi siya nakasulat dun sa misalette na binigay samin, balak ko sana tanungin ulit pag balik.
Baka pede ipakiusap sa priest.

Sure sis! Pag okay sa sched namin yung gusto naming priest, I'll ask him then tatanungin ko ulit yung sa office ng OLLP.
May 2017 pa ang wedding namin, kakareserve lang namin ng church last week tapos this week plan namin ifinalize yung venue. May nakapagsabi kasi sakin na minsan daw mahirap itugma yung schedule ng church saka ng reception venue.
Pag okay na pareho, saka kami magbook ng ibang suppliers like P/V.
Baka kasi mamaya magdown na kami sa P/V tapos bigla mag iiba yung date. Mahirap na sayang din yung dp. Hehe
Kaw ba sis kelan wedding mo?

^Feb 2017 ako sis. I plan to go to OLLP nga one time kapag may nkasched na wedding manunuod [textspeak!] ako just to see how everything goes hehe.

Good thing, sa OLLP din ikakasal yung friend ko this year kaya makakapag observe na din ako 😁 hehe

Bawal na pala? We had personal vows before, pinayagan ni Father. Pero that was 2014 pa.

so I've sent email to the secretary to confirm this... and this is the response:


MANILA, Dec. 31 (PNA) — Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Socrates Villegas reminded couples that reading their personal vows within the wedding liturgy is not allowed by the Catholic Church.
 
In response to some query by couples, the Lingayen-Dagupan prelate noted that it is not proper for couples to recite their marriage vows during the wedding liturgy.
 
“Private devotions and personal spiritual expressions should not be mixed with the liturgies of the Church. Mixing personal pious devotions with the liturgy could confuse, remove or diminish the focus of the action of Christ Himself in the liturgical action. The liturgy is not ours to change at whim,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook account.
 
Villegas added, “The liturgies of the Church, being public prayer, belong to the Church. Every liturgical action is an action of Christ the Priest with His Body which is the Church. The liturgy is a sacred action surpassing all others.”
 
He explained that it is only the Vatican and bishops’ conferences, in come cases could make changes in the liturgy.
 
“The regulation of the sacred liturgy depends solely on the Holy See and in limited cases, to bishops’ conferences. Hence, no other person, not even a priest may add, remove or change anything in the liturgy on his own authority (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 22),” the CBCP head added.
 
With this, Villegas noted that wedding vows should be recited at the reception.
 
“The officiating priests who will be asked about the propriety of inserting personal vows in the wedding liturgy can advise the couples to read their vows at the wedding reception but certainly not in the church,” he said.
 
Villegas added, “It would be a good occasion too to instruct the couples that the wedding vows prescribed in the wedding liturgy are rich and meaningful if only they understood the full depth and source of the liturgy of marriage. Let us not compromise the sacred character of the wedding rites on the altar of romanticism.”

Literal, na yan lang ang reply nya. haha! so that means, no personal vows na talaga.

Haha wala man lang actual commentary from them copy paste lang ano ba yan! Nagets ko yung di pwede gawin within the liturgy, kaya naisip ko kung pwede gawin yung vows pgkatapos iannounce ng priest na magasawa na kayo and right before sa part ng "you may kiss the bride". Kasi in my understanding, technically tapos na marriage rites/liturgy nun hehe. Haays minsan nkakainis din ang simbahan sa mga ganyang rules. Bakit dati ok lang? Oh well, looks like they will not allow anything that would not conform to the "actual" marriage rites..

even if matagal na ako nag inquire sa kanya, nag follow-up pa talaga siya samin.
First choice ko na otd but then hindi na siya kinuha namin kase yung emcee pala ng caterer that we booked is meron ding team for otd. And ayos din naman review kay Ms. kris.

Sa mga OLLP brides na graduate na recently, saang part nlng sa wedding nyo inincorporate yung wedding vows nung hindi na inallow? I've seen some SDE na just before the ceremony the couple does a "first look", which is pretty common in american weddings and that's when they do their vows. Nakakatouch din panoorin..

Girlush: wow sis, sinearch mo pa talaga. Thank you Gusto ko na nga siyang kunin, kaso baka may preferred na coordinator nga yung emcee ng venue namin. May sinabi kasi sila nung nagbook kami, iclear ko na lang siguro bukas pag nag update na yung contact namin dun.

Nagtitingin din ako ng iba just in case baka kasi hindi kami magclick pag nagkita kami. haha!
