You should have at least some hkd when you leave MNL for incidentals when you reach HK. As for the amount, ikaw na ang bahala. Also, if you bought your tickets online,
make sure you have enough Php for your travel tax that you'll pay at the airport.

For us for our last trip, we bought around 5k hkd here in MNL. The rest we charged it to the credit card and made 1 ATM withdrawal. My husband hates the idea of bringing Php then going out of your way to find a money changer. Kasi daw if you're going to factor in your effort to look for a money changer plus the fare (for you and companion/s to go to the place, halos wala na ding difference if dito sa MNL ka magpapapalit. That will eat up pa some of your time while in travel.

I just booked our ticket from Cebu Pac Php23,193/- for 4 pax. I noticed wala palang discount ang 3yo kid. Btw, magkano ang travel insurance? Is it applicable for Filipino citizen? how about not a Filipino passport?

^ we used to get a family package thru AIG for less than php 2k. Puwede non PH passport holder. But AIG already removed it from their list of products.

You were asking about travel insurance in your post. For travel tax, all Filipinos should pay it except for OFWs. For minors, you can apply for a reduced travel tax. Foreigners  staying in the country for more than 1 year are required to pay travel tax

My mistake, sorry. I was referring to the Travel tax that we have to pay in the airport and the terminal fee php550 correct me if Im wrong. The last time we went to Philippines 2yrs ago and I was still a Philippine passport holder. So I was wondering if we still have to pay travel tax and terminal fee for me and my family and we are not a Philippine passport holder. We will be in Philippines for a month then will travel to HK for 5days.

No worries. There's no exemption for the terminal fee (only for OFWs). It should already be included in the ticket price. Check your ticket. Re travel tax, since you're a foreign passport holder and has not been staying in the country for more than a year, I think you're exempted.

^thanks sis. Any idea how much is the travel tax and terminal fee? My mom will also travel and she's a Pinoy passport holder. Just an estimate so we can keep a budget for that too.

For terminal fee, I think it's php 550. Check your ticket though. I think it's already included in the ticket price

Kumuha muna sya ng passport bago magpa book.Kailangan kasi ng passport number pag nagbook ka na.

option lang ang passport sa pagbook. You can book even without passport sis.

The DFA wishes to inform the public that the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has approved the issuance of Circular No. 922 Series of 2016 increasing from Php 10,000.00 to Php 50,000.00 the amount of legal tender Philippine currency that may be imported/brought in and/or exported/brought out of the country physically or electronically without prior authorization from the BSP.
This is part of the continuing efforts to ensure that regulations are attuned to the need of providing greater flexibility to travelers to and from the Philippines. The new policy became effective on 15 September 2016. www.dfa.gov.ph

Prior to 2016 the figure was just 10,000 pesos, enough to last you a day or two when you arrive.

hay buti naman at pwede na ito... napakalaking abala pa naman ito pag sa airport mismo magbayad. lalo na pag kami magtravel lagi kasi kami madami...

^double check mo rin in advance of your departure date yung website kasi for the past couple of months it wasn't working. I had to pay my travel taxes sa airport. According to the DOT staff sa airport under construction daw yung online system nila. He has no idea kelan matapos.
