Not necessarily number 1 senator ang papalit sa VP. Basta pipili lang among the senators or representatives.

Section 9. Whenever there is a vacancy in the Office of the Vice-President during the term for which he was elected, the President shall nominate a Vice-President from among the Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives who shall assume office upon confirmation by a majority vote of all the Members of both Houses of the Congress, voting separately.
- 1987 constitution

Salamat. :)

^^^, ^^, ^

Line of succession:
1. President
2. Vice President
3. Senate President
4. Speaker of the House

http://www.gov.ph/about/gov/exec/

Hope this helps. 😊

^ Hi sis. I think nag apply iyang line of succession pag president ang natanggal sa pwesto, hindi sa VP.

But thanks sa link. Very informative. ;)

^Oh, right. That will apply if both Pres and VP positions become vacant (what are the chances, right?), Senate Pres will be acting Pres until ma-elect ang Pres and VP.

Yung case na sinasabi nyo (for the sake of discussion, i-co-continue ko lang ang sinabi nyo above) - hypothetically, Leni is VP and mapatay sya, Duterte will need to nominate a VP - dapat member ng Senate or Congress, http://www.gov.ph/constitutions/the-1987-constitution-of-the-republic-of-the-philippines/the-1987-constitution-of-the-republic-of-the-philippines-article-vii/

^ In line with that, can we please not have Tito Sotto as Senate President? :D  Very alarming lang news this morning that they're considering him for the position.

^It's not up to us eh.

I am now glad that there will be DAANG MATUWID and DISENTENG PAMUMUNO who to govern the country. Panatag na ang loob ko na si Leni na talaga ang Vice President, and this is her greatest birthday gift to her husband. Parang si Pia birthday ng Dad niya when she signed the contract in Miss Universe, then her judge during the pageant experienced the same kind of journey.

Congratulations on Leni's win!!! With a track record on humanitarian work and being a very diligent but humble worker (she doesn't trumpet her achievements, that's why others think she hasn't done anything), I am sure she will be a great, sincere public-serving VP! :)

^I agree hindi naman siya yung tipong may ginawa lang ng kaunti sa kapwa agad agad na niyang pinagmamalaki and will ask for the acknowledgement. Importante yung may humility how to acknowledge her own mistakes and will not pretend na alam niya ang gagawin. Others thought wala siyang ginawa kasi lawyer lang naman raw siya kasi ito lang naman ang mga dahilan, they are not willing to research, sarado ang isip, isama mo pa yung puro hatred and bitterness.

I am disappointed that VP Leni is being given cold shoulder by the pres just because he is friends with Marcos. Totally disappointing. Nakakatakot lang baka sa future may projects siya and the president will not approve kasi siyempre dagdag sa resume din yan.

Knowing Digong that is inconsistent and unprofessional President I am not totally surprised kung ayaw niyang bigyan ng cabinet position si VP Leni and he is more worried of his friend BBM. I believe Leni can do her job on her own, baka malay mo mamaya madamay pa sa kapalpakan na mangyayari kapag binigyan pa siya ng Cabinet position. Leni can still continue her job as public servant naman sa tamang oras ng trabaho habang tulog pa ang Presidente  ;D

i was mad when i learned his reason of not giving Leni a cabinet post, di ma gets mga maka Duterte na it is not about not giving Leni a position but the reason behind it na ayaw daw nya masaktan si Bongbong ang mas kinakagalit ng karamihan, plain BS reason. Anyare sa "My loyalty to you as a friend ends where my loyalty to my country begins." pronouncement nya? why am i still surprised eh consistently inconsistent pala sya, madalas pa sa pagbaliktad sa pancake ang pagbaliktad ng mga sinasabi nya  ;D

Yeah, suwerte na rin siguro yan.

Just a question though, may sariling budget ba ang VP and if she has a project using the budget of the VP, would she still need the approval of Digong?

Anyare sa "My loyalty to you as a friend ends where my loyalty to my country begins."

This is what disappoints me, it's not because he's not giving Leni a position but the reason behind it. He also mentioned that he's not giving Leni a position kasi malaki daw ang talo niya sa South, 3rd place lang, unlike sa Norte na panalo siya. Ang dami na rin niyang sinasabi lately contradicting his statements before. Anyare sa healing and unity?

I'm hoping na sana hindi na nga niya bigyan ng position si Leni, that would be better for her. Leni seems to be consistent. Still humble and full of respect.

too bad we have immature President who has stronger leadership kasi nga siya yung unang pangulo. Pero sana huwag mag give up si VP Leni. Malaking challenge nga lang ito sa kanya.
