Monthly/quarterly expenses for baby

Hi mommies! I'm newly married and we're thinking about having a baby soon. Yun nga lang, I have no idea how much yung upkeep ng baby. Would any of you mind listing down how much ginagastos niyo for your baby/child? Diapers, milk, clothes, food, yaya (if any), tuition (if studying na) etc? Thanks!

here's my rough estimate for a monthly expense:

for a baby---
milk formula - 6000
diapers - 2000
toiletries - 1000
clothes/ shoes - 2000
yaya - 4000
pedia visits / vaccine - 500-7000 (depends on price of vaccine)

>>> no need to buy milk if you are breastfeeding your baby..  no need to buy diapers if you have cloth diapers, although you need to build your stash of CDs for this but it is economical in the long run.  good to note that it is also environment friendly.. an additional cost however will be for the laundry detergent for your CDs.

for preschooler---
fresh milk - 500
snacks - 500
toiletries - 1000
clothes/ shoes - 500-1000
yaya - 4000
pedia visits / vaccine - 500-5000 (depends on price of vaccine)

you don't always buy clothes/shoes but its nice to set aside money for that.. my practice has been to shop every 3 mos for my baby boy before because this is the time when you notice that he/ she has outgrown some of his clothes. then when he got older (toddler age) i shop for his clothes and shoes on a 6 mos basis because he / she is not growing as fast as a lil baby..

the tuition fee is variable and you need to factor in school service expenses, school meals / snacks and other fees that is charged by the school of your choice ex: school programs / field trips / projects etc.

Hi Sis,

It is really case to case basis. Depende din sa choice ng parent. For us though, ito yung mga naalala ko na expenses namin nung infant to toddler yung anak namin.

formula milk - 1k per week (lactose free milk, hindi kasi sya pwede ng hindi lactose free)

Diaper - Mga 3k to 4k a Month. (Pampers brand)

Vaccines - Sa naalala ko 1800 (flu vaccine) yung lowest vaccine ng anak ko to as much as 5k (vaccine for pneumonia) per shot. Sa Medical city yung clinic ng Pedia nya.

Pedia visits - 600 to 800 depende ano papacheck.


yan yung mga very important, wala pa dyan toiletries, kapag nagkakasakit yung mga meds, etc.

Yung clothes and shoes - For me luho lang ito, baby girl ang anak ko so aminado ako, magastos din ako dito haha! I buy almost every month! lol


She is 4yrs old now so nag aaral na - Tuition, books, uniform, school service, misc. - Around 120k to 150k a year. (estimate)


Nagmimilk pa din sya pero Mas mura na milk nya ngayon since pwede na sya ng full cream milk. Super bihira na sya mag diaper (pag aalis nlang or pag tulog) so nakakatipid na kami dito.

marami pang ibang gastusin, small stuff lang yung iba pero kapag pinagsama sama malaki din gastos.

In a Month
For my 4y/o kid
Milk - 1.6kl box x 4 weeks = 2600.00
Diapers - every night nalang = 600.00
Tuition Fee - for 1 year 22,000/12 = 1,833.00
Yaya - 5,200.00
Clothes/ Food/ Toys (kung ano mahiligan)- estimate 5,000.00
Total = P15,233.00

For my 15month old
Milk - 1.6kl x 4 weeks = 6,600.00
Diapers - 2000.00
Yaya - 3500.00
Clothes/ Food/ Toys = 5,000.00
Total = 17,100.00

Kung titingnan mo sya in a big picture, nakaka-loka ang gastos. Pero kapag nandun ka na, everyday and enjoying every minute of it with you child, hindi mo na mararamdaman ang gastos. baka nga mas more pa ang magastos mo sa alloted budget mo, bastat alam mo na ang bibilihin mo ay makapagpapasaya sa anak mo. yung makita mo yung ngiti nya, reward na sayo. Lalo na kung meron pa kasama kiss and hug.

Agree ako kay sis izabelle, depende sa parents kasi marami choices for milk, diaper brands, toiletries, vaccine (pedia or via free sa health center).

For us, ito yung gastos for our toddler (18 months) monthly:

Milk - 1800
Diaper - 2000
Toiletries - 1000
Snacks/Vitamins - 1000
Yaya - 4500

Occasional expenses
Pedia's fee - 400 (kung may check-up or may sakit)
Vaccine - 2000-5000 (depende sa kung anong klaseng vaccine)
Toys/Clothes/Baby books - 1000-2000 (depende sa item)

milk - 1.6 kl x 4 (lasts for 7 days so minsan we have to buy 5 in a month) = 7400
water (Wilkins: 1 gallon lasts for 2 days) -  85 x 15 =  1275
Cerelac (for breakfast or if hindi ako makaluto ng food nya) - 103 x 10 = 1030
Cetaphil baby 280(something) x 2 = 560
Vitamins - 600
diapers (mamypoko) - 1500
Clothes and stuff - 1500 (occasional)
yogurt (pascual's greek style is his favorite, every other day lang sya nito) 600
potatos, bananas, etc - 500
yaya 4000
vaccines 3000 to 4000
malaki din ang bill namin sa kuryente ngayon because naka open ang AC halos 24/7

it's not easy having a kid. i realized that now with all his expenses. but at the end of the day, it's all up to you naman. i just want the best for my baby boy because i waited for him for so long and he's a wish come true. im investing on him now because whenelse? di ko na maibabalik ang time na to so im giving what i think he deserves. this is his future din naman. we're not rich and wala kaming maipapamana sa kanya but good foundation.

Depends kasi sis eh. I agree with Izabelle. Not every parents are the same. Anyways. Here's mine.

When my son is still a baby..

Milk - around 1500 nan hw
Toiletries (milkbath etc) around 3000 ( he uses physiogel kasi may skin allergies sya at that time)
Pedia - drs fee 500
Vaccines - depends sa vaccine. Pinakamura nya is yung oral before around 1500 lang but he has vaccine na 7k
Vitamins - 2k (i buy the biggest sizes na, para mas matagal)
Yaya - 4k
Cerelac (nung kumakain na sya) 500 lang coz i prefer feeding him with smashed veggies.
Clothes - around 1500 ( tip i buy bigger clothes para mas matagal. Mabilis kasi lumaki kids now. So if you buy exact size mas mapapalaki gastos mo.

Now he is in grade 1 na this coming school year.

Tuition fee 110k (with books, supplies, uniforms.) wala pa yung bag and black shoes and rubber shoes here.
School bus - 3900/mo.
Yaya -8k
Snacks - 3k every week
Clothes - 5k every two months
Pedia - 500 drs. Fee then depends sa boosters nya. Basta every month may check up sya.
Dentist - 2500 every 6 months (propalyxis with flouride treatment). Then depends if may tutubo sya na permanent na tooth, pinapalagyan ko na ng sealant to avoid na masira. Last Sunday his dental visit cost me 7k coz he also needs 3 sealants, and one pasta aside dun sa regular cleaning nya,
Eye check up/year - 2500
Then misc sa school (projects, gifts for their friendship day, christmas) around 15k/yr.
Toys/books - depends sa mahiligan nya. Pero nasa board games na sya so around 1500 yung isa. Then ps4 games or itunes card na hinihingi nya.
Then yung reward nya for his awards. Hubby set up reward system kasi. So depends what place Sya. So this gastos naman every grading period lang naman. Si baby knows he needs to put the money sa bank account nya after receiving it from his daddy

Naku sis sobrang mahal talaga and magastos magka-baby, pero nasa sayo parin yun if paano ang style mo, kung gusto mo bang tipidin yung baby, like cheaper Milk or breastmilk na lang para healthy na wala pang gastos, sa vaccine naman it's your choice kung sa health center lang ba or sa private clinic, and kung branded diapers ba, generic diapers or lampin lang.

and sa clothes branded ba or yung mga sa tiangge lang. sa school if public or private, nasa sayo yan sis.

may mga nanay lang talaga na maaarte na gusto best yung sa baby nila..isa na ko dun hahah.. my son is now 2 yrs & 7 months.. pero lakas pa din sa milk and diapers.

nakatipid na ko sa check up ngayon, kasi wala na siyang vaccine unlike nung baby pa na mothly talaga. hindi ko na sinali sa expenses yung mga clothes and toys kasi hindi naman din kami monthly bumibili.. pero  sa toys, sobrang dami niyang toys, wala kasi siya playmate. mahilig din ako bumili ng mga damit and shoes niya.

dami nga nagtatanong bakit daw di pa namin sundan, sabi ko wag na muna, enjoy ko muna yung anak ko, parang nakakaawa din kasi pag masyado pang baby yung panganay tapos nasundan agad, syempre mahahati na yung oras mo, nababawasan na yung time mo sa eldest. like sa ka officemate ko, wala pang 1 yr old yung panganay niya nabuntis agad siya.. naaawa daw siya dun sa eldest niya kasi di niya na masyado naaalagaan and nalalaro kasi mas focus yung attention niya dun sa bagong panganak na baby niya, kasi symepre alagain pa.

Wow talaga. Like cute ama isa ako sa maarte na parents. My hubby rin kasi only wants the best regardless magkano yung price nya. Even the car assigned to his kid, kailangan luxury rin. Although I chose na iservice sya para matuto makisama and magkaron ng friends. But on weekends na lalabas si kiddo, yung kotse nya gamit nya. Ako na nga lang nagda drive kasi nahihiya naman ako hiramin yung driver ng MIL ko kahit na pinapahiram nya. Then sa food, medyo expensive rin ang taste bud nya like his dad. But its all good. Happiness naman nya eh so okay lang. Buti nga di lumalaki na brat and he knows how to share.

Kaya ako namangha kasi naisip ko nung bata pa kaming magkakapatid, mga tig-2 years lang agwat namin, mom ko gov't employee, dad ko sa private company pero di naman bonggang bongga ang sweldo. And based sa mga figures na binigay nyo, naisip ko lang pano kaya nagkasya sweldo nila samen haha. Although shemps di hamak naman na mas mura noon. Siguro yung cost naming tatlo katumbas lang ng isang anak ngayon. Nag-iisip isip na din kasi kami mag-baby so at least may idea na ako how much ang monthly. Salamat sa pag-share.

True. Yung Tuition ng kid ko now na nga lang I remember nung panahon ko, mga two years na tuition fee ko na yun halos. Or 3 semester na yun haha... When I was asked to have another kid na kasi nga big boy na kiddo ko, sagot ko lagi "di na, ang mahal eh".... Although afford naman namin kaso practical na lang rin. Baka if magbaby kame ulit, x2 na yung costs sa current cost ng kiddo namin. Eh pahat ng bilihin ngayon, pamahal ng pamahal.

expensive talaga ang child care.. most parents want the best for their children. sabi nga ng nanay ko i had the best so i have to strive more to give my child the best.

i set priorities lang nga like impt un health & nutrition, kase if the baby has poor nutrition gagastos ka rin for medical expense. mas ok naman ako buy ng milk at food kesa bayad ng medicine at hospital bill. and for school age kids impt un education.

priceless lang talaga un happiness and joy na bigay ng mga bata sa bahay at buhay natin so ok lang un gastos.. kikitain mo naman un.. =)

Magastos talaga magpalaki ng baby. pero depende kasi. Lagi naman may choice ang parent.

Example pwede naman sa center lang pa vaccine, pwede din public school ang bata kapag nag aaral, pwede din hindi bilhan ng mga bagong damit or laruan lagi, pwedeng tipid sa food, pwedeng hindi naka AC whole day, pwede na mumurahin lang ang infant milk, pwedeng mag lampin lang, etc.

Ika nga, if gusto mag tipid, pwedeng pwede, same as kapag gusto gastusan pwede din. Haha!



Syempre, at the end of the day, if you can give a better life to your kid, why not?
