Are your partners allowed inside the birthing suite?
« on: March 29, 2016, 06:06:36 pm »
I din't think it's common in PH but in my experience, unless you know 'someone' in that hospital, or if you work / hold a certain position, a doctor or resident in the same hospital where you will give birth, they 'might' allow the husband to be there. Share your thoughts and stories.
I gave birth in a private hospital (QC area) in 2009 and regardless if I am employed there during that time, even if I work with the people who are present during my delivery, my hubby can only stay in the waiting area.
This time, since i'm giving birth overseas, i was told by the midwife that my husband should be there. If he chose not to, or kung ayaw ko daw, it's ok.. but they advised na dapat andun sya as your support system. And i think I like it better that way.

Sis i think as a general rule dito sa pinas hindi allowed ang husband sa delivery room or operating room. Sa labor room pwede. I have heard from friends na hanggang labor room lang talaga pwede ang husband.

Pero my nurse friend told me na nasa batas daw na pag idedemand ng mommy na kasama ang husband dapat daw payagan pero i dont think hospitals are following that rule.

Luckily, my OB and my husband are colleagues so malaki ang possibility na papapasukin siya though wala pa kami assurance from my OB kasi hindi pa namin siya natanong about that. But hubby said gagawa siya ng paraan to be with me mula labor hanggang paglabas ni baby. I am hoping for this din kasi iba yung comfort na nararamdaman ko pag alam kong andyan lang siya sa tabi ko. Hihi

gave birth in Australia 2.5ish years ago and yes, he was with me the entire time. I ended up having a c-section and he was also with me inside the operating theatre... cut the cord pa (they cut the cord themselves so shempre madala nila sa tabi ko and malinis... pero nagtira sila ng enough area ng cord para ma-cut rin ni hubby before linisin si bubby). support system sila, it would be good to have them there.

^gumdrops, i was told by the MW nga last check up ko, even my parents can go in, pati my son (but of course, di ako papayag) coz that will be traumatic for him. ok na yung si hubby lang para makita nya gaano kahirap manganak lols!

May nabasa rin akong post from a guytalker, he said he was with his wife during the entire operation. I remember one time we were watching "one born every minute UK" series sa tv, yung isang wife doon na-cs, sabi nya baka himatayin daw sya pag ganun tapos gusto ko pa raw syang isama. :P

I gave birth in SLMC via C sec. When I was admitted, walang available room sa HRPU kaya sa ward muna ako. Bawal husbands sa ward (from what I read, pwede if may certificate ata that the couple went thru a birthing class or something, didn't really ask kasi di naman kami nag classes. The nurses didn't say anything din naman). Pero nung nagkaron ng space sa HRPU, which is just a name for the area, di naman talaga kelangan high risk yung mother, dinala na ako dun and sinamahan na ko ng husband ko. I labored for 12 hours before my doc decided to do a C sec.  In the delivery room, my husband was with me. He saw me being cut up, pati daw kidneys and intestines ko nakita nya lol. He's not at all squeamish so wala naman naging problema.

My hubby was with me during my labor until I gave birth. Tinanong na namin beforehand sa OB if pwede siya pumasok at sumama sa delivery room and okay naman kay OB. Not sure if pwede sa lahat or depende sa OB din. Haha! Or kung hindi talaga kaya, pwede namang lumabas. I gave birth in SLMC Global City. My hubby even cut the cord of our baby. I guess it all depends on the hospital and the OB.

I think one of the reasons why ayaw papasukin din ang husband kasi baka mamaya maraming itatanong e mairita pa yung mga doctors, etc. or baka biglang magpanic yung husband pag certain circumstances like bumaba yung bp, hr, etc. syempre wala naman panahon mag-explain pa yung doctors.

I am leaning on the possibility na papasukin si husband. Yun nga lang we might choose a hospital na medyo hindi niya kilala yung mga doctors, nurses other than my OB of course. Hehe

yes belle, pwde nga rin sila pumasok but only if you want to... I drafted up birth plans and one of the things I included there was Only my husband is allowed in the birthing suite. Bold, italicized and underlined pa.

I'm just looking back... kasi when I was in labour, my hubby was just sitting beside me. My OB kasi told him na bawal mag peek... kasi I asked if they can uncover me, kasi I wanna watch them ;D I can't remember why they said bawal. And besides, ayaw rin naman nya makita talaga.

Siguro naman if may disclaimer, or remind nila mga husbands na o pag hinimatay ka kasi pamacho macho ka kuno dyan, hahayaan ka muna namin at itong asawa mo priority namin, lol siguro naman papayag...

Yes. But he opted not to be there! baka daw umeksena pa sya ng himatay. Iniwan nya lang yung camera sa nurse.

It was only later on that I found out na sobrang tagal nya pala naghintay sa labas.  My OB did not inform  him na nanganak na ko. He waited for more than an hour outside considering na CS ako and we're done in less than 30mins. OB did that kase nga "maghintay sya, ayaw nyang makita kang nanganganak eh".  ;D

My brother was with my sister-in-law the whole time, sa Cavite hospital naman to. Can't remember the hospital name, kaya yung pamangkin ko dami pictures with blood pa and all.
