For those who breastfeed please do not judge us who are unable, kasi it's not our choice. So please don't be harsh. Don't bash.
[/b]

I was under medication, I gave birth via CS and had traumatic delivery. The pedia advised us not to room in the baby for the first couple of days, therefore hindi nakalatch si baby, and I was under a lot of medication kasi meron akong medical condition before having a baby and was advised not to breastfeed. I also had postpartum depression and because of this it affected my supply and had no choice but to formula feed my baby.

Tanong ko sa mga moms na nag formula feed since birth, how did your kid/s turn out? I hope healthy po sila. I'm starting this thread to para magkahope kasi I will do anything para mag breast feed ang anak ko unfortunately I'm unable.

All my kids were mixed fed since birth. Normal delivery naman ako lahat pero physically painful talaga for me ang breastfeeding. Especially pag kakapanganak mo pa lang na masakit ang tahi at katawan mo, then, sa experience ko ang supply ng milk ko talagang after 3 days pa usually dumarating. Mixed breastmilk and formula sila for the first 2 months then formula na when I get back to the office. Okay naman sila lahat di naman sakitin. Etong sa last ko..just gave birth a week ago, formula and breastmilk din. Hirap kasi nga nagpapagaling ka pa, then wala pa ko yaya so ako ang puyat talaga in taking care of the baby, parang super pagod and physically painful yung nararamdaman mo tapos bibigyan ka pa ng guilty feeling for not breastfeeding. Naiisip ko tuloy does that make me less of a mother pag hindi ko sila napurely breastfeed. Basta ba we always let our babies feel our love by taking care of them, cuddling them, protecting them, making every moment with them precious and fun, we're still good mothers.

a few years ago ko lang nalaman from my friend na malunggay capsule daw taken 3x a day nakaka boost ng milk production. i wish i had known about it nung nagka baby ako.

hi sis, i was exclusively formula fed, including my 2 younger brothers. the reason was that my mother had cysts in her breasts and instead of milk, pus came out, so it was impossible for her to breastfeed any of us.
we all turned out fine and healthy. my brothers and myself also don't have any major illnesses (knock on wood). we didn't have any developmental problems, we all did well in school, and are doing well in our lives :)
i think the important thing is to make sure your child gets all the nutrients he/she needs through other sources if it's not possible to breastfeed him/her and of course to let him/her grow up in a safe, happy environment.

Before I gave birth to my 2nd son, I joined a breastfeeding group on FB. When I gave birth I was so keen on breastfeeding my baby. I didn't get any yaya yet as I was still on mat leave. Turned out, the baby wakes up the entire night and slept during the day and because of lack of sleep, it caused my anxiety and ended with diminishing my milk production. I started then formula feeding my son. Breastfeeding is not for everyone I guess and it wouldn't make us less of a mom if we formula fed our baby. Don't give in to pressure, I almost lost my sanity to it.  ;D Both of my sons are formula fed, they're both ok naman though the anxiety is always there whenever my bunso would not feed ( he's 15month old)

Purely formula ako sa first child ko then mix feeding sa second child.
My First child (4y/o) - i gave him all Wyeth Milk. Madaling matuto, very active and very articulate and very adventurous. Health is fine, not sakitin (gave him all the vaccines needed). Height is ok.

My second child (15months) - Mix feeding. Low supply of milk. C tapos Pneumonia Vacc agad. for 90 days i breast fed + Hipp formula milk. When i got back to work, formula nalang. I shifted to Wyeth Milk. I blame my DM2, i can not eat everything when i was pregnant. dependent ako sa insulin that time. I give the vaccines needed by my child. Hopefully, in time lalakas din ang kanyang immune system at lungs.

No worries.

I purely breastfed my son for a little over a year then i introduced him to straw cups with formula or freshmilk. When he turned 6 months, i tried several times to give formula in a bottle but he wont take it. Hindi ako breastfeeding advocate. It takes a lot to breastfeed, patience, effort etc. Nakaka stress pa nga siya, nakaka baliw. I remember i felt like i was going craaay kasi super puyat during the newborn days.

Tanong ko sa mga moms na nag formula feed since birth, how did your kid/s turn out? I hope healthy po sila. I'm starting this thread to para magkahope kasi I will do anything para mag breast feed ang anak ko unfortunately I'm unable.

I was able to breastfed for only 2 or 3 days yata. So technically, halos buong buhay ng anak ko formula fed talaga sya.

4yrs old na anak ko ngayon. Hindi sya sakitin. She has speech delay though dati pero hindi dahil sa gatas kundi dahil sa kakapanood ng TV since baby palang sya. She's very much fine now.

She is very active, fast learner and a lot of people says na very nice ang diction nya.

She is also tall for her age, pero I think this part ay nasa genes kasi namin.

I made sure all her vaccines are complete and laging malinis her surroundings. I think at the end of the day, nasa pagpapalaki talaga yan.

Not saying though na ok lang mag formula fed, of course, if you can breastfeed your baby for a long time, go for it but it is not really for everybody.

I agree huwag papressure. Just because hindi nag breastfeed e masamang mom ka na. Same as kapag hindi ka gumamit ng cloth diaper, kapag hindi ka fulltime sa bahay, etc. Sometimes, I don't get it nga bakit ang babaw ng basehan ng iba sa pagiging mabuting nanay. :)

My Mom never breastfed us (me and my sister) pero we grew up just fine. Wala pang sira teeth namin at this age. (I'm 31, my sister is 25). Marunong din naman kami sa school when we were studying.  :)

Hi i just breastfed my baby for only one month.. and the rest formula fed na kasi im working.. from what ive observed nagkakasakit lang ang baby kung inherited lang o kung nasa genes na.. like my baby he has an asthma, sometimes pneumonia and allergic rhinitis.. eh both sides have the hstory ng mga ganun..  but of course its important to have vitamins and laging may monthly check up si baby.. :)

I'm having the same problem. Low supply ko and, since I have a home-based business to run, I have no choice but to start working at 2 weeks ni baby. Stressful talaga for me kasi walang tulog tapos I need to work sa umaga. I try to breastfeed my son pa din pero more on formula. Kaya ako nalulungkot :'(

Hi Sis! don't be sad naman. I breastfed my baby for 6 months only tapos mixed feed na siya after that.

I for one was not a breastfed baby.  Hindi din nakapagbreastfeed ang mother ko back then... same sa mga siblings ko, pero we all turned out okay naman. Hindi naman kami sakitin and I can say na when it comes to intelligence eh matatalino naman kami ng mga kapatid ko and we are very healthy and active when we were younger.

It will not make us less of a mom if FM ang iniinom ng babies natin - motherhood is YOUR journey with YOUR kids. so for me don't be so affected sa mga advocacies ng ibang mommies. :)

Gusto ko to. Lol.

I'm not due until June, although I'm planning to exclusively breastfeed for as long as I can, sabi ng husband ko wag pilitin if hindi kaya. Sa family namin no one did ebf for longer than 6 months. My sister only breastfed for 2 months yata after that formula na lahat. The last time he was hospitalized was 6 months pa lang sya, he's 4 yrs old now.

Hi Sis,

I think case to case basis talaga. :)

wala naman masama sa formula fed, i gave birth last 2013 and its premature 28 weeks lang si baby and needs to stay in NICU for 2 months. during her stay in NiCU talagang exclusive breastmilk dahil bawal ang formula. my baby weighs only 986 grams, imagine that super liit. and naka 3 weeks na sya before makapagbreast feed talga sa akin dahil nakaintubate sya for 1 week and whole stay in NICU ay naka oxygen sya, so napakadelikado talaga. during nasa NICU i only pump my milk to give para meron mapakain sa kanya thru syringe. and konti [textspeak!] talaga milk ko kc via CS din ako dahil placenta previa totalis ako, severe bleeding kaya napaanak ako ng maaga, kailangan pa namin bumili ng breastmilk para sa baby. after 2 months nauwi na namin sya but still nakaoxygen pa rin sya. so kami lang talaga ni hubby pwede mag alaga sa baby and no yaya dahil super liit pa rin nya. Di sya nakakafeed ng maayos and we decided to help na ng formula dahil laging nagigising si baby dahil nga gutom. Now our baby is 3 years old and di naman sya sakitin and she super kulit na.

^ I agree with sis izabelle. As much as possible, limit the baby's tv time or gadget time. It will cause speech delay because the tv doesn't ask you nor respond to you or teach you how to talk. Unlike if you personally interact with the baby. Pedia also advd us na tv time/gadget time causes hyperactivity sa mga kids.

When It comes to development naman, advance sya maglakad. 10 months nakaka ilang steps na sya. Sobra likot nya, takbo ng takbo at talon ng talon. Medyo mabagal lang sya magsalita. Mag 2 years old na sya next month hindi pa nakakausap. My bunso mag 2 months pa lang. Breastfed sya 1 & 1/2 months, nag iwan ako ng stash of BM good for 2 weeks... back to work ulit ako... I still have milk... super sad kasi sayang un gatas ko, dapat iniinom ng baby ko un... pero no choice again but to formula fed him. And thank God both of them are healthy.

speaking for my sister who has a 4 year old and 7 year old, both mix fed. mahina supply nya, i guess asa lahi namin kasi ganun din mother ko, at ako.

my history ang family ko ng ashtma, allergies at eczema. so far healthy both yung anak nya. as far as mental development. mas bright yung isa nyang anak.

so i dont think nakaka bawas ng development kung formula fed. :)
