If you plan to use the money in 5-10 years time, tingin ko hindi masyadong safe ang stocks now. But kung ang timeline mo is 15 years and more, kebs lang kung pababa or pataas ang stocks kasi nagsa-cycle talaga ang market. :-)
I started in 2012, so far ang overall gain ko is only 15% (pula kasi ang ilang stocks ko sa industrials) pero di ako nagwoworry masyado. Kasi ang target ko to use the money in 18 years time pa. So kampante lang. May target lang ako every year na X amount na kelangang ma-set aside for stocks. So far okay naman. I do not think I will gain big sa stocks, like 5x the amount etc.  but I think it will be enough to more than cover the inflation rates.
Depende talaga kasi ang gameplan mo sa stocks :-)

pero if I have to choose between shell and shakeys, mas pipiliin ko ang shell.

Nakabili na ako ng pinapangarap ko na JFC kahapon when it was at 245. Yung budget ko na dapat ipambili ng SHLPH na hindi umabot, dun ko nalang nilagay.

Tested BDO Nomura last August,  nagreflect na sa portfolio ko  ang average price at my confirmation notice (email) ang buy transaction ko.  Ibebenta ko na sana nun later on pero ang naging avg. price ay 5.3 ; their reply ------current error for avg cost price is that it captures the previous closing price of the stock.

 hindi pa sya advisable sa trading pero sana naman maayos na nila.

^i have some money saved up with the intention of paying off a property that will be turned over mid-2017. hindi ko tuloy alam if i should put it in stocks muna. baka kasi hindi tumaas within 6 months. pero the bargains are really tempting!

Same here. My money is ready. Invested a very few shares of JFC and PSIF yesterday. Sana mag deep pa. Any idea whats the support for PSEI?
