Hair and Makeup on Your Wedding Day Part 16

So... nawalan ako ng makeup artist sa wedding ko na two months away. I had to cancel my contract kasi di ko nagustuhan yung output nung trial ko last weekend. I booked her way, way back pa. Ang mali ko, nagbase ako sa rate and di ko masyado tiningnan ang portfolio believing in the mantra na "kahit na sino pa yan basta may kaunti kang face value pwede na" Hehe. Sorry. Feelingerang froglet lang. Anyway... dalawa palang sa dami ng pinagtanungan ko since last night ang nagreply ng rates:

Dito ko lang nabasa na sobrang in-demand pala si Soleil Capulong. Di ko na tuloy sure kung available ba talaga siya sa date ko or auto-reply yung nareceive ko from them (I stated kasi yung date ng wedding ko: 01/07/17 sa inquiry ko). Yung iba, ang reply sa akin eh booked na sila. I am torn between getting a more known HMUA or getting my lesser known HMUA nung prenup ko. Wala kasi si prenup HMUA masyadong brides sa portfolio niya pero he's actually good kasi nagustuhan ko yung look ko nung prenup. Yun nga lang dahil sa recent experience ko sa HMUA na kinancel ko, di ko tuloy alam kung magpupush ba ko ng mas kilala bilang di ko na sure kung afford ko pa ang magpatrial.

Ang tigas kasi ng ulo ko. Di ako nakinig sa mga nagsabi sa akin na pag-aralan mabuti ang portfolio at wag padalus-dalos magbook. Oh well.

^sis sino yung nauna mong HMUA? Sana magustuhan ko din trial ko para di rin ako magcancel. Mahirap na kasi sa paguwi lang ako makakatrial at mahihirapan ako makahanap if within the month dahil lahat booked na.

Girls who have done their prenup shoot outside metro manila or out of the country, do you fly in your HMUA as well? Is their OOT rate per day basis? has anyone here tried to ask for a discount/waiver on the OOT rate?

Try Ish Sison (natagalan ako mamili sakanila ni Soleil-been rooting for her since day 1 pero lately narealize ko na super makapal sya mag foundation and kilay, and my features na medyo tisayin, mukang tatapang masyado hitsura ko), Glow by Gerly (I've researched A LOT and isa sya sa pinaka mura as in way way mura than the rest with a pretty decent portfolio, I'll be getting her sa prenup shoots ko), Mariah Santos (my official HMUA team for me, my moms and 5 ento, I followed my guts, ayoko na kabahan sa kakalabasan ng hitsura ko come my wedding, 100 % akong kampante na I'll look my very best since I'm based abroad so I can't do trial makeups), Eds Go (nice portfolio, too) yan usual dito na mabanggit ng b2bs. Sorry to hear na you had to cancel last minute.

I know where you're coming from, hinde sa arte lang din eh, the confidence that we aim to have on our wedding day is very important, not only maging maganda, but to feel maganda as well.

Mga sis try FroilanErik Artistry, search niyo sa fb, siya hmua ko on my wedding this saturday most of my friends who got married siya ang hmua, i checked out his fb page magaling nga siya kaya i booked him agad kahit walang trial makeup. super nice kausap and sobrang kwela din ng team niya para ka daw nasa punchline hehe

^^binalikan ko yung portfolio ng mga hmua na nahingan ko ng rates. At grabe, sa lahat ng chineck ko, si mariah talaga yung ibang klase yung dating ng make up. Parang ang lakas maka artista hahaha! Kaso ang mahal niya hehe. Tapos si ish din ang galing din magmake up. Pero bet ko make up ni mariah, hindi ko lang kaya magcash out ng ganon kalake for a single day event. I'm not saying naman na wag gumastos sa hmua, saken lang kasi yung price pagnaiisip ko, makakabili na ko ng appliance or furniture sa bahay nun haha! Kaya i'll look for hmua na sakto lang yung price pero hindi macocompromise yung make up. Lahat naman tayo gusto maging maganda sa wedding natin hehe..

Mga sis i booked Muriel Vega Perez for my wedding day! I'm happy with our trial make up session, I felt like that was best version of me. With my previous HMUA kasi parang nag transform yung face ko, and nagmukang mataray. Haha. ang advise ko lang to my fellow B2Bs is, we have to remember na madaming magaling na MUAs pero hindi naman lahat babagay sa personality natin. Haha. Anyway Muriel's price range is higher compared to my 1st booked MUA pero Ok na din sakin, kampante na ko. For my Pre-nup naman I got Jeny Cedillo- very competitive ang price niya and magaling din!

BTW, sila din yung HMUA ng sister ko nung kinasal siya 4 years ago.

raiizea haha true, lalo sa overseas bride like me na walang chance magtrial make up. Takbo na talaga don sa kampante kami na can deliver.

Our HMUA is Ms Abbie Ferraren. Di ako particular sa hair pero ok naman yung asst nya sa hair. Magaling si Ms. Abbie sa bridal makeup. I think forte nya yun. Depende rin sayo kung ano gusto mo kasi tinanong nya muna ako kung gusto ko raw simple o makapal, sabi ko since hindi naman ako pala makeup, gusto ko iba itsura ko sa kasal, so makapal ang gusto ko...  at para naman masulit ko yung bayad... Ayun. Inavail namin [textspeak!] airbrush makeup. Makapal nga! At ang ganda ko. Promise. Haha. Yung ibang friends ko sabi saken sana ganun din daw sila kaganda sa kasal (kakapalan ko na muka ko pero totoo talaga yan). Nag mockup din ako sa kanya pero hindi sing ganda nung kasal ko mismo eh.

^^ mga sis you may want to check Nini Marquez especially if Tagaytay brides kayo because super reasonable rates niya, below 20K if I'm not mistaken rate niya. She was my hmua a couple of years ago, I got her over Kris Bacani kase mas nagustuhan ko work niya and syempre sobrang mura rate :-) she has fb page and Ig @nini_hmua which I always stalk hihi :-)

Mga batchmates ko kay Mariah Santos (HMUA), aren't you ladies both excited and freaked out on how good he is haha, I'm super excited and nervous na baka maiyak ako sa hitsura ko sa kasal haha!  I might want to sleep on it, sa ganda. Cray-cray thoughts, every day kasi I see his posts, I'm in awe. When I signed the Contract, ang kilig level ko umabot sa roof.  Happy to have not scrimped on it, super sulit, I'm happy he gave me a reasonable deal, ambilis kausap with regards sa rates nya.  This is the first time that I'll be made up by a professional HMUA, I'm glad it will be Mariah.  Thanks to GT for inspiring me to get the best Suppliers.

Sis rory, dont worry hindi ka kakabahan sa wedding mo dahil sobrang cool ng team nya as in. During the preps naaliw ako sa kanila and sobrang bait ni mariah as in and dami kwento at hindi ka maiinip sa haba pa naman ng preps. Magtrial ka pa ba sa kanya?
